    In space combat, PB is the same hex that your ship occupies, because of the size, multiple small ships\fighters can occupy the same hex. Short range is 3 (I think) hexes. Since you are on a planet and not in a space-sized hex, everything is considered PB. Remember to apply all feats you may have, but apply a -2 to your rolls. Roll 4d10 and double it (x2) for damage!

    Only the crit hits and it IS a crit, so it will go straight to the wounds (ouch)

    There is a size conversion chart on pg 211, SWCR, table 11-6 that shows how to convert starship sizes to charcter sizes. For example, a Small starhip (like this one) counts as a Colossal character size. This makes it harder for ships to hit small characters and easier for small characters to hit the relatively larger targets.

    Are we attempting a rescue, or just killing all the tuskbeasts first?

    If Daxx positions the ship above the doc and his crew, Sharn will (on his turn) access the belly hatch and try to get to them. He can try to pull them up with the force, or lower himself down on a rope.

    just remember that you need to be within 10m to initially gather someone\thing with the Force when using move object.  in other words, Daxx would have to hover directly overhead and not less than 30ft off the ground.  It is certainly doable, though it will be harder than just hovering w\o worrying about altitude.  

    the lowering Sharn down idea, like a helicopter rescue at sea, is also possible, though the risk is more on Sharn if he were to hit the ground or swing into something.

    perhaps Sharn and the pilot need to coordinate?


    Dr. Helian is up, but he seems engrossed by holorecording the 2 tuskbeasts eating one of his nikto crew at the bottom of the map.

    The Tuskbeasts are up!

    The 2 tuskbeasts at the bottom of the map continue to feast upon their nikto-nuggets.

    The TB I-27, on the right side of the map, who was chasing that nikto, lunges and impales the poor fellow with its 2 massive tusks.  The nikto fails his arms trying to keep himself out of the Tuskbeat's mouth.

    TB K-16 lunges at the nikto on top of the sand sail, but flails wildly and only manages to hit the side of the boat.

    TB P-9 charges the left nikto and gores his side with one tusk.

    ok, please reference the map for your ship's location.  not counting altitude, the Mitochondria is some 12-15m from the sand ship, certainly within visible range, but not directly overhead, your pilot hasn't had a turn to move the ship yet, nor have the two of you communicated your plan with each other.

    Irwin, for his actions, unplugs from the ship's computer in the cockpit and flies down through the hatch with Sharn, camera rolling.  "Crikey boss, this should make a fine shot!"

    Sharn secures a safety cable (1 action) onto his utility belt and lowers himself down about 5m (half speed climb).

    Nikto are up.....

    Sharn gets the attention of the 2 Nikto crew on the sand ship, they begin waving their arms frantically.

    Nikto at I-27 tries to stay out of the TB's mouth

    other 2 nikto try to climb some mooring ropes back up into the ship and avoid being eaten

    I agree that players should try to plan stuff "in character." It helps to make it feel more story-like. But let's face it, it's only a game.

    Do people in online vids ever talk "in character" to each other? Like when they're planning a raid in WOW? I'd say hardly ever. Mostly it's gamist jargon and cussing. geek 

    Our first encounter began with a lot of metagaming, so I'm not sure how or why it should change now.



    "Crikey!" chirps Irwin. "Lower down the ship, Daxx. Get in close and easy now. The boss is climbing down, attempting a rescue."

    "Varrrghraat!" shouts Sharn, hanging below. The jostling ship swings him out on the rope like a pendulum.

    "Oh dear, I can't bare to watch," responds the droid. He would grimace if he could.

    that is very true, most people don't role-play in MMOs.    Do you play WoW?    
    Since it's SW, I can't help but think Irwin has a little c-3po in his personality.

    Sharn is a mystery. Partially because he's still developing... drunken  In D&D terms, his alignment would be Chaotic Neutral. He's definitely future Sith material. Evil or Very Mad 
    I see him as jaded, with a sense of honor. Being a Wookie, it's inherent, but has been totally twisted by his rough upbringing.

    the laser turret hisses and something "pops" inside the control panel.  The fire control screen goes blue with an error msg and crashes.  For no apparent reason, the power windows also now fail pig 

    The weapon system is without power (like a gun's power pack).  However, you can't just replace it during combat.  Reference the last post of "house rules" on how to use REPAIR to reroute power from another system to the gun, if you choose.  It is 1 move action to disable the first system and a 2nd move action to reroute the power back to the gun.  Both require repair checks.

    Daxx maneuvers the Mitochondria (with his natural 20) directly over Dr. Helian, fighting the wind and radiation buffets with ease.  Sharn is now 1-2m directly over the good doctor.

    Helian is up, he is paying no attention to the ship hovering less than 15m over his head or the Wookie on a rope who is literally 1-2m over his head.  He grows weary of the stale footage of 2 TBs eating his poor crew member.  Helian moves about 4m near the bow of the ship and begins filming and narrating out loud about the TB that gored another crew member.  This now puts him about 4m away from where Daxx positioned the ship for Sharn

    Tuskbeasts turn:  

    I27 continues to chew on his lizardman lunch

    S18 +S22 finish their meal this turn and are just crunching bones

    P8 again gores the nikto, who sprays blood, much to Dr. Helian's filming delight.  This TB looks up and sees Helian hanging over the rail of the sand sail, he licks his lips at his next target.

    J16 is the TB Rakhu blasted.  He turned and growled at the ship after getting hit.  He now sees the ship flying low and dangling a furry treat.  Like a cat seeing a toy on the end of string, J16 jumps up onto the sand sail and moves under Sharn's position.  He crouches down on his back haunches, intently watching the furry mouse on a rope swing back and forth..... then he pounces at Sharn!

Is the Nikto also unrestrained, so that he can be easily lifted? If yes to both, then the Nikto will be the primary target. If not, then Sharn will move the doctor. Sharn sees that the doctor is uncaring about his crew. Perhaps he is without honor.

    Sharn can see what looks like a lightning storm, localized on the ground and arcing upwards (kind of like ball lightning) moving towards the sand sail from the SW (direction of the deeper Gluss'elta dune sea, opposite the research station).

    Sharn puts the tuskbeast out of his mind and concentrates on the injured Nikto.  Sharn can feel his lifeforce and reaches out with the Force.  Sharn begins to lift the Nikto up.  A look of surprise and relief comes to the injured Nikto..... until the Tuskbeast (taking his AoO) snaps at the Nikto with it's massive jaws.  Sharn notices that lifting half a nikto is indeed easier than lifting a full nikto, despite his masters suggestion that is all in his mind.  The bloody upper torso of the now dead-Nikto floats up to Sharn.  

    The tuskbeast below crunches femurs and tibia in satisfaction.

    Nikto:

    K17 starts to climb back up into the sand sail, when he reaches the deck, he points to the SW to alert the other 2 nikto.

    N22 pulls out a grenade and throws it towards the 2 TBs in the line of S.
    N19 picks up a large pike and charges the TB jumping at Sharn.  He hits it and gets his attention.

    And just to be clear, Sharn is attempting to levitate any survivors up to the hatch where the rope is hanging from. Irwin can help whoever makes it up there.

    Rakhu hustles to the ship's hatch and opens up on the tuskbeasts below.  Heavy blaster fire sprays the deck of the sand sail, deftly missing the dangling wookie and doctor.  The wounded tuskbeast is blown to bits by the first 2 shots and the TB nearest the Dr. is also hit.

    The 3 nikto on the sand sail's deck, raise their weapons overhead and cheer loudly for Rakhu.

    Daxx is up and can now see the ground lightning storm approaching.  Daxx would estimate by its speed, it will arrive in 2-3 turns.  

    A hot wind is blowing hard from the SW, Sharn and Rakhu can feel it on their skin and Daxx can feel the ship's stabilizers straining against the wind.

    Daxx needs to make a pilot check to maintain position against the elements, plus any other action you want.

    Daxx does a great job keeping the ship steady!   +2 bonus to any skill checks related to the ship's stability, +1 to any attack rolls cheers 

    Dr. Helian becomes engrossed by the lightning storm.

    The Tusbeasts attack!

    P10 climbs up the side of the sand sail and gashes the good doctor!

    The 2 TBs at the bottom charge up to the sand sail, 1 takes an AoO from the pike-armed Nikto and stops.  The other manages to climb on board and he claws the nikto with the pike.  

    J21 moves to the sand sail, but botches his climb check Sad

    Dr. Helian begins to float up in the air towards the open ship hatch.  Sharn can hear him muttering, "ah, yes a much better angle, thank you" as if unaware of what is happening to him.  The tuskbeast at his feet takes his AoO and removes a chunk from Helian's shoulder which causes him to drop his holorecorder and cry out, "No!!!  my footage"  Like an astronaut in Zero-G for the first time, Dr. Helian flails and spins himself upside down, trying to swim towards his fallen treasure as he rises helplessly under Sharn's control.  

    Dr. Helian lands on the floor of the Mitochondria and is greeted by his assistant Thana.  "Are you ok, doctor?"

    Helian replies, "oh, yes, yes, I am fine, but Thana.... what are you doing here?  No matter, my camera..... you must go retrieve it, there is invaluable footage of the hunting patterns of the tuskbeast!"

    Thana's voice is firm, "I am not going back down there and neither are you.  Dr, look at the lightning storm!"

    Dr. Helian's focus shifts to the display of lights, "aaahh, yes, very impressive, I have never seen such a storm......"

    The Nikto continue fighting their respective tuskbeasts.

    The wind in front of the Lightning Storm is increasing in velocity as the disturbance draws closer.

    3 of the 4 are slightly wounded, the one by the Dr. from your fire last round and the other two, very slightly, from the Nikto's grenade.  Starting with the one on the nikto, he takes all three shots like a champ, though he seems worse for the wear now (crappy damage, eek).

    Daxx is up and needs to make a more difficult Pilot check as the Lightning is crashing down just off the map, if it doesn't hit at the end of this turn, it will arrive next turn for sure, but the winds are reaching near hurricane levels at the storm's crest.

    a good roll, but just barely keeping the ship in place. the bonus from last round is gone and now everyone faces a -2 penalty to skill\attack rolls from the turbulence.


    study don't forget about the ship jury rigging rules that could reroute power to the stabilizers or shields if you need it. main gun is still "out"

    Dr. Helian's injury is being attended by Thana.

    The Tuskbeats, seeing and feeling the storm, scatter away from the sand sail and the lightning.
