Aye, the devil is in the details. There are a lot of abilities that have the same effect, just different names; those are legal for double-dipping. For example, the Martialist has a +1\+2 to attacks called Favorite Weapon.

A fighter has the same ability called Weapon Focus. For a Paladin it is called Holy Weapon, etc etc

For a Monk it is called Sublime Fist. This would stack with the Martialist Favorite Weapon (fist). Or it would stack if you multi-classed into Fighter.

    28 vs Fort = 32 acid damage.

Does this count as a melee attack by the creature, since it is using it's "Maw" (ie: jaws or throat) and it is an adjacent attack?  If so, Virgil will Dodge (-2 vit)

if not, Virgil soaks DR6 and takes 26, wallowing in its bile

Monk can switch out any abilities that are redundant.

Virgil dodges the melee attack of the maw of doom. I prefer to think of the inside of the cabin as the belly of the beast. The core is the tongue/appendage thing, but mouths and teeth can form anywhere.... either the walls or the core can attack, and the core can move inside, but cannot leave the wandering cabin.

    Neraka viciously claws the mimic.

    Virgil is up.

Nevermind, I forgot Virgil was dazed last round. Dodge is an immediate action and a dazed character can take no action.

    yeah, that makes sense.  drat!

Virgil doesn't know about John Henry's condition and probably couldn't do much to help him if he did.  Virgil shouts at Traveler, "Come on, Monk!" as he blasts the core before diving into the Secret Haven.

Virgil will stand (move) and use Rapid Shot to fire twice at the core (standard).  Virgil Hustles (-1 vit) and dives into the Secret Haven portal.

With a deadly double-shot, Virgil sends the diabolical mimic to it's grave. Actually it implodes, depositing Monk safely outside.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Need a Perception check from Neraka and Monk who are standing outside.

JH is still unconscious and bleeding.

Oli and Virgil hang out in the Secret Chamber playing cards and fielding SW trivia. Time exists there 6:1, six hours in astral plane equals one hour on Aerth. After a while they decide to come back and check on their friends...

Congratulations you guys defeated a 20th-level monster!  cheers  It was a team effort. I did go somewhat easier than I could have, but it was a pretty nasty fight and you guys wasted the mimic by the third round.

Just a heads' up: I'll be on vacation next week (10 days) and won't be able to attend to the forum. We can either take a break or switch to another game and come back to Weird West some time later.

stabilize JH, I think it is only DC 10 on a Heal check

Result of the throw of dice "1d20 +4" :

    3 + 4 = 7

    frak, human reroll

Result of the throw of dice "1d20 +4" :

    12 + 4 = 16

"Easy, big fella, we got ya. We wouldn't have survived without your heavy hitting!"

GM - how much did Blue Twig help? I am psyched that we beat a CR 20, but I wonder if it was due to the help (I think he made attacks over 2 rounds) or JH's big hits and a couple lucky crits.

Virgil does a +1up dance  afro

Maybe this would be a good time to transition to WoD for a bit?

Traveler sees a black-robed and hooded humanoid figure watching the fight from behind a boulder. The stranger sees that he has been noticed by monk and ducks down behind the rock. Then there is a flash of orange light from behind the boulder. If Monk goes to investigate, he finds the figure is gone, as if vanished.

    Monk made it through unscathed.

Since nobody has listened to any of his counsel since this adventure began, he keeps what he sees behind the boulder to himself.

He will ask Oli and Virgil

"Did either of you detect any magic or evil around the henge?"

He will head over to investigate. He's looking for any artifacts, signs of activity or rituals, or runes/markings on the stones.

His DR+4 is still active, btw.

The circle of stones emanates magic. The magical vibe seems to be more of a residual nature, as though rituals had been conducted here in the past.

    No fiends or undead detected.

Judging from the sun, it's about 3:30 pm. The eclipse will occur in approx. 30 minutes.

"I too was surprised by the strange cabin-mimic," admits Bluetwig. "Yet I continue to have a bad feeling about this place. As though a dark plot is unfolding right before us and we cannot see it. I also believe the solar eclipse bodes ill tidings."

"Vrym said that near the cemetery, there's a staircase leading below ground," chimes in Klandor.

Since nothing interesting was discovered in the henge, Traveler Monk will make sure his horses and wagon are secured before it gets any darker. He pulls them off the road and parks next to Oli. He feeds the horses, blankets them, and leans against his wagon to watch the sun disappear.

    "Evil omen. Esmariah protect us.."

He mutters to himself as he makes the sign of his Goddess.

Any chance leveling up will restore vitality pools?

Some of the stones have primordial runes chiseled into them. Who can read Primordial? For now, it seems the party is okay with camping at this site?

Monk prepares the wagon and horses and meditates.

In time, the moon passes in front of the sun.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

At the moment of the apex of the eclipse, the stones in the circle begin to hum strangely. Bolts of electricity crackle between the inert golems.

Then suddenly, from the center of the circle, a burst of chaotic energy erupts into the sky.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

It forms a beam pinpointing the center of the black moon. The energy beam expands enveloping the moon in light. Then the moon disappears, replaced by a swirling void: a black hole.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

In time, the sun emerges once again, bringing back the light to the sky, but the moon has changed. It is now a dismal void hanging in the sky.

"What fell magic is this?!" Bluetwig demands, abhorred at the turn of events.

Nothing else noteworty happens while the party rests. It only takes 6 hours to be fully rested (10pm), but I take it the heroes just camp until the following morning?

Player characters can now be leveled up, once they've had a 6 hour rest. Full Vitality is restored after a 6 hour rest. One wound point is healed per 24 hours after a 6 hour rest. Leveling up also grants additional 5 + Con mod Vitality.

Before sleeping, oli will cast detect traps and look at virgils door and levers and such. Also reading the runes at the henge and anywhere else they are found.

If we are camping here, Traveler will see to preparing an evening meal from our supplies.

He also volunteers for first watch, since he is still at full vitality.

He will tend the fire and patrol the area occasionally.

I need a mechanics check on the levers. On the golems as well, if Oli investigates them.

    The stones read:
"That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die."

Oli will not yet touch the levers. Just looking.
    14+14=28 mechanics.

    Golems 9+14=23

And he tried to get me with an insanity taint during that last combat..

That plus giving us a level incresae may not bode well for us lol.

Speaking of level increase,  faith points and attack/save mods for half level round down, right? So at level 9 they are still +4 and go to +5 at level 10..

yeah, that's the break down. 9th level isn't that great (the advanced power is nice though).
