a Noble idea Empty a Noble idea

    Post  Chirs2 Sat Apr 19, 2014 5:32 pm

I think we agree that Noble from SW is pretty weak compared to PF characters.  I have been checking out the d20 (future) and Prestige classes in SW for some other ideas.  1 of them is remarkably similar to something you suggested the other day via email.  I think they could be staggered at levels (like Field Officer) and added into a Noble's class line.  Field Officer and Officer have very similar abilities, just worded a bit different.

    Some examples:

    a Noble idea Field_11

    a Noble idea Noble_10

    a Noble idea Fo10

Here is a proposed revised Noble class.  It basically keeps most of Noble (dropping a few things) and adding in the Field Officer abilities at empty levels (which PF doesn't have) or replacing Noble abilities.

Noble 1 - Favor +1, bonus class skill (unchanged)
Leadership (1) is basically the same as Inspire Confidence (noble 2)
Noble 2 - drop uncanny survival,  with Leadership\IC (unchanged Noble, no add from FO)
Noble 3 - Favor +2, resource access (unchanged)
Noble 4 - drop Coordinate (redundant anyways) add Tactical Experitse  (FO4)
Noble 5 - noble is empty here, add August Leadership (FO5)
Noble 6 - bonus feat (both Noble and Field Officer have bonus feat listed) from Noble or FO list
    Noble 7 - Tactical Mastery, Favor +3  (FO7+Noble 7)
Noble 8 - drop Coordinate +2, add Commanding Presence (FO8)
Noble 9 - bonus feat, again same for both
Noble 10 - empty noble, add Action Trust (FO10)
    Noble 11 - Inspire Greatness (N11)

use all other Noble stats - BAB, DC, Saves, Reputation

    There's the Noble Scion : http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/n-r/noble-scion

Also, D20 Dragonlance had a pretty good noble class, you could work from... The DMG has the Aristocrat, but that really relies on the Leadership feat.

Thanks, but that is more along the lines of Leadership Feat, which I still think is completely broken. What I really want is more like the 3.x classes that were Marshall or Knight, which had group buffs via non-magical means.

Honestly, I will probably just make a Bard, they have everything that Noble and Field Officer have PLUS spells and UMD. He will just be an "Oratory" bard, not a musician or singer.

I am now leaning towards a Dayborn Vampire, Bard (Toreador)

Bard can do all the Noble stuff, better and he gets spells

I am now leaning towards a Dayborn Dhampir that uses Monk levels to simulate his vampiric Disciplines from old WoD.

swift movement, flurry of blows = Celerity
stunning fist, d8 unarmed damage = Potence
    high saves, AC = Fortitude
    etc

I am looking at the "Hungry Ghost Monk" archtype, since they siphon Ki from their enemies, which is lifeforce in the same way that Blood is lifeforce for a vampire, using his Ki pool as a de facto Blood Pool from WoD to increase speed, AC, jumping, etc.

I haven't read either the dhampir or the hungry ghost monk, but is there a way to combine blood-drinking and ki-extraction into the same action? Does the character have to physically drink the enemy's blood every time he gains Ki from his enemy?
