"Grizzle!" they shouted, hurling stones at him. "Beast! Monster!". He didn't understand them, but their mockery and hatred were clear. He had seldom before seen anyone that walked like him on two feet. Well, he mostly walked on two feet, when the twisted hump in his back didn't hurt, forcing him to lope along on all fours like his mother... Before the Forrest burned... Before THEY came. They would pay for what they did to her...

...maybe some of them were not spoilers and corruptors... The old man had been nice to his mother. They had a bond that grizzle didn't understand, but it was unmistakably deep. After she... After the fire... The old man taught grizzle to bring the bear outward from within; The part of him that was her. When he was the bear he was neither deformed nor despised. The bear was his escape and his Homecoming. Further he retreated from the man-monster until all that remained... Was the bear.

ORIGIN

She was near dead when the old man found her. The battle had been feirce, but she had succumbed with the death of her cubs. The old man sensed no will to live in her, but he had felt the Same once. Moved by mercy he let a little of his lifeforce ease into her heart; and with that, a little of his spirit into her failing soul. Her eyes softened and she nuzzled his leg with her snout.
She would live, and her maternal need would have an outlet. He had a... Cub... For her. He could not train a child and he could not raise an orc. They could work together. They could restore what remained of the wilds... The war was not over. THE BOY would be the one to avenge.

Still proficient w armor from cleric levels. I was beginning experimentation to see whether a few well chosen magic items can make up for some deficiencies

IMO Mystic Theurge is just the ultimate caster.  A perfect class for using leadership to have a flunky protect you while you keep casting.
