Lumenor's flame hits the pilot and seems to do some damage, though perhaps less than expected.

Emil is up, map is current

scale updated, since we seem to be in only 1 corner of the original map, but I can zoom out again if needed.

I hope that helps with placement issues

Emilian wants no part of going toe to toe with these big guys... He'll take a double move past Granish, around the corner, and stop in square H-12..

    He's got an idea..

Red soldier spends the round putting out the fire. Blue soldier crawls into the building next to him.

    Top of round 2.

Goblins line up straight and attack chef.

The first two slash and snap their claws at him, missing, until finally a claw just scrapes across chef's armor harmlessly. The flamer is another story:

    Chef needs a reflex save.

It is medium sized, but clunky. Acrobatics or CMB check vs. Its CMD.

I have a +3 in both of those, so I'll just go with CMB check. He wants to duck under the machine and heave-ho it into the air, possibly on top of another mech. Is that a grapple check or strength check? I'll go with grapple. At the very least, maybe he can knock it prone. Chef is no goliath, but he's fairly burly for a Dex-based fighter.

    CMB Check: 12 + 3 = 15

If that's a fail, can I spend a Hero Point?

This is the first time I've played a fighter in Pathfinder and can't believe Acrobatics isn't a class skill. There's no Athletics in PF either... Are we just condensing Climb and Swim and Strength checks into Athletics?

The hero point will add +4 to your check. I need to read the grapple rules right quick. Underneath, Chef finds cables, pulleys and linked rods.

Looking at the rules, I think you can use acro to duck under it or grapple to grab it in front of you.

Well, he wants to duck/hide under it first. Lifting the mech from underneath is a standard action, no? Can he spend a Hero point to gain an extra action and do that?

Same roll, but for Acrobatics, would be the same result: 12 + 3 = 15.

Climb and Swim are separate Str-based skills.

    http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/skillDescriptions.html

Acrobatics, like in other games, is almost always exclusive to the light armored classes like Rogue, Bard, maybe Ranger. Acrobatics is essentially Tumble + Jump combined.

Acrobatics is correct here since Chef is moving within the melee threat zones of all 3 mechs, so he needs to beat their CMDs to avoid AoO from each. That is part of the move action, which still leaves the Standard action for your grapple\lift\whatever you want to do to the mech. Chef, assuming he survives\negates the 3 AoO, can do both - duck under it and lift\grapple it, without spending a Hero point for an extra action.

    Who is DMing?

In some other games. But Athletics is a Fighter class skill in 4e, and in 5e a Fighter can be proficient in both Acrobatics and Athletics. Pathfinder severely penalizes the Dex-based fighter. Which is why they had to invent the Swashbuckler class.

Nevermind about Chef trying to go underneath the machine. I had it in my mind they were big, since first they were Large-sized and now they're Medium. No doubt the CR is well-balanced.

Chef will attack with his sword again. This time, he targets the pilot. Spend a Hero Pt for +8 to roll.

    8 + 5 + 8 = 21
    if hits: 8 + 3 = 11 damage

Having just been playing my rogue, I am pretty familiar with the movement-based AoO issues.  You are probably right though, given the size, you don't even need to go under its legs at all.  Chef could just grapple (or Trip) from his adjacent hex, which would only proc an AoO from the target mech, since Chef doesn't have improved grapple\trip, but not the 2 adjacent ones.

Anyways, you can take any skill you want, with any class.  There is no Cross-Class skills with PF.  You just don't get the +3 bonus if the skill isn't on your class skill list.  I thought there was a Trait for it, Logroller, but that just gives a +1 it doesn't make it a class-skill, which is kind of lame, since you can get most other skills as class skills via the trait system.  I think Logroller should make it a class skill but not give the CMD bonus vs Trips, but whatever.....

sorry about the back-seat driving lol!

You can attack the heavily armored pilots, or attack the mechs themselves. A variety of possibilities exist for either.

Attack the pilot I guess.. (noticing the chef's successful attack) move up to attack and take the biggest swing that a half-orc can muster. (unarmed attack of course)

Move to space G-9?  the numbers are a bit off, basically due south of Chef attack the one to his (Granish's) 9 o'clock:

    Roll(1d20)+5:
    15,+5
    Total:20

    no idea if that hits...

    damage if hits:
    Roll(1d6)+4:
    6,+4
    Total:10

    ooh.. max damage!

    Ok, mounted combo coming up.....

Tuq will sling another stone at the pilot (standard)

    Roll(1d20)+5:
    3,+5
    Total:8

    (probably a miss)

Tuq will stow his slingstaff (move)

Tuq spurs Ila forward, she instinctively knows what to do against larger prey - bring them down!

Ila charges forward and bites at the cables and pulleys in the legs of the mecha - where an ankle tendon would be on an animal

    Bite +2 +1 (animal focus) + 2 charging

    Roll(1d20)+5:
    18,+5
    Total:23

Trip (Ex) A creature with the trip special attack can attempt to trip its opponent as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity if it hits with the specified attack. If the attempt fails, the creature is not tripped in return.

    if that attack hits

    damage 1d6 + 3
    Roll(1d6)+3:
    4,+3
    Total:7

    + trip
so take his attack roll result of 23 and apply it against the mech\goblin's CMD

If your attack exceeds the target's CMD, the target is knocked prone.

Ila's AC is -2 from charging, 15 currently

Target one humanoid creature of 4 HD or less
    Duration 1 round
Saving Throw Will negates; Spell Resistance yes
This spell clouds the mind of a humanoid creature with 4 or fewer Hit Dice so that it takes no actions. Humanoids of 5 or more HD are not affected. A dazed subject is not stunned, so attackers get no special advantage against it. After a creature has been dazed by this spell, it is immune to the effects of this spell for 1 minute.

The one in front of Granish is dazed, the middle one is dead, and the one in front of Tuq is down, havi g fallen backwards. The pilot of that mech is one sqare straight back.

Emilian hears the ruckus and peeks around the corner.. he sees one of the critters obviously dazed and another toppled.

Sensing his opportunity,  he rushes forward, drawing his slim bladed rapier as he goes.

Emilian advances to square E-7/8, and attempts a killing blow on the dazed creature.

Rapier attack on dazed mech pilot: 1d20+1 (16+1)=17

    Damn, almost critted him..

    If that hits, 1d6+2 (6+2)=8 +1d6 sneak attack (5)

(I think I can sneak attack anyway, a dazed monster ought to be denied his Dex bonus..)

    Total damage=13

    Emil is done.

Sorry, daze doesn't give an attacker any advantage, (I think because it is a cantrip they didn't want it to be too powerful).

Emil's flanking maneuver is clever, but he finds that the pilots are better protected from behind. He loses sight of his target in the mess of mechanical marvels he needs to stab through to get to the dazed pilot.

Gotcha, makes sense. I only took a brief look in the book, and never played a PF rogue before. I knew you'd catch it if it wasn't legit.

Emil's blade meets nothing but armor and he curses to himself in his strange native tongue..

Blue soldier stays put. Red soldier gets the flame extinguished and hefts his spear again. "Gordy, you ok?!"
"Been better!" The reply is weak and faltering.

The goblin on foot draws an odd looking device made out of wires and glowing purple crystals. He points it at Emil, who is the immediate threat.

Emil give me a will save.

Tuq whispers to his wolf, "I have seen many spirits, but I have never heard of this singing buglar, have you?"

Ila scrunges up her nose and snorts in denial.

Does that mean Granish's opponent is still at full? Dazed? Chef swings at that pilot.

    attack: 10 + 5 =15

    if that hits, 8 + 3 = 11 damage
