"The confounded alien droid we picked up along the way jury-rigged our engines so that our ship quickly arrived in the Delta Quadrant, a journey that would normally take many hundreds of years. As ship's engineer, it will likely be on my shoulders to repair the warp engines back to normalization. Many long hours of dirty work, I reckon. You know how we wookies require our 16 hours of rest!

Eh, but enough about that business. I am wondering, what is the status of slavery in this region? Is it legalized? Who are the main perveyors of that disgusting practice? I am a liberator, you see."

Jakaroo roars with laughter, "It is a good thing you are a liberator and not an astral cartographer. You are only in Wild Space, just outside of the outer fringe, not that far though it seems like a different world out here. There are no great civilizations out here, just scattered star systems. There are really no laws either, which leads to all manners of barbarism. I have heard stories of other civilizations in the neighboring galaxies, but the distances are so great, I don't put much stock in them... the Eternal Throne of Zakhuul, machine races, the Drayen Dynasty of Dubrillion this bucket head (indicating CB-B3) always yammering about.... we have enough trouble dealing with the indigenous vacuum creatures like the "angels", Leviathans and of course the Eldrazi."

Jakaroo takes a long drink of grog, "Tell me, what news from the core worlds?"

"I'm afraid not much has changed in a thousand years. Sith and Jedi vie ever for control as countless worlds get squashed in the course. And all the while, many intelligent races are abused and enslaved, used as fodder in the war. It is a long tedious battle to bring liberation, but the Living Force keeps us focused.

So tell me, what more of the Eldrazi? How do they trouble you?"

Jakarro glances about, aware not arouse the other pirates, then remembers he is speaking in Shyriiwook.  "They are a plague upon Wild Space.... not a plague, more like.... an infection.  We all come from something, right?"

Jakarro points out a human, a gungan, a gamorrean, "That one evolved from a primate, that one a frog, that one a boar.  You friend Shivak from a cold-blooded reptile.  Wookies of course evolved from tree-dwelling felines."

Jakarro lowers his voice out of habit, "Eldrazi evolved from prokaryotic microorganisms.  They are a sentient biomass adapted for life in the vacuum.  They evolved from a common ancestor of Bacteria and Archaea.  They were probably some of the first forms of life in the galaxy."

Jakarro shudders as if remembering many battles with them.  "They gain energy from both organic and inorganic sources.  In other words, they can eat anything.  They mutate rapidly and seemingly at their own intelligent direction. They are like no other foe I have ever faced."

Jakarro motions to Port Nowhere, "We built Port Nowhere to be able to escape them.  We stay mobile and we run.  Against the Eldrazi, there can be no victory."

"I refuse to believe there is an enemy who is entirely invulnerable. I'm sure your people cope as best you can, but to constantly be running and hiding: there can be no honor in that. For it only delays the inevitable. I shall study this race further. Surely they have weak points within their anatomy and their over-all strategy. My experience is to hit your enemy where it counts and to be relentless. If that doesn't work, toss them off a building!

Do you have any specimens in captivity? Perhaps a library to peruse or veterans to interview? The Edrazi sound like an excellent topic for a new documentary."

Jakarro sits up a little taller in his chair,  "I never said that the Eldrazi are invulnerable.  They can be killed;  I have slain many in my centuries of battle with them."

Jakarro eyes Sharn with a newfound respect, "If you ever encounter them, and I pray to the elders that you do not, let me know if you have any suggestions.  None have been taken alive, for they are not independent life forms, remember they are a biomass of microorganisms that 'act' like individual beings.  In reality, you kill a finger here, a toe there.  They exist only in the vacuum, so as far as we know they have no home.  They simply feed on whatever they find in the depths of space.  I suspect that a star's radiation is too much for them, since there has never been a report of them from any known world in the galaxy."

Generally for violating the Mandalorian Code:

    -Mandalorian Code-

-Strength is life, for the strong have the right to rule.
-Honor is life, for without honor one may as well be dead.
-Death is life, one should die as they have lived.
-Respect is life, for clan ties are what make Mandalorians mighty.

examples: showing cowardice, retreating from a lesser foe, betraying your clan, any act of losing honor (lies, treachery, etc), taking a bribe by a target to let them go free, etc etc

Who would choose to actually wear that mark is a good question cheers

"Yes SDX. The Dockmaster recommended someone for repairs. We may already have enough to cover it. Some of our 'container creatures' may have... Issues... With an ordinary pirate raid. We may have a very good lead here." Or an untimely death...

Once the crew assembles we should hop to The Daedalus. (It appears to be a separate construction?) Tarro will hail Captain Akavi Sparr. "Captain Sparr, this is Tarro Bloodwren, Request permission to come aboard."

    just as a reminder.....

Sensors indicate that the other asteroids are all tethered to each other via tractor beams, probably from the capital ships.  The tractor beams serve to both keep the asteroids together, but also keep them apart so they don't crash into each other.

It reminds the crew of an underwater coral reef in its varied and unusual appearance.

    Chris wrote:

All the asteroid bases are linked together via tractor beams and collectively they comprise Port Nowhere.  Think of the separate ships as different areas of the same port, different docks if you will.

The crew rides a droid-piloted rickshaw taxi over to the Daedalus.  (lots of drunk pirates = free taxi service)

Tarro spots the inverted Mandalorian flag in one of the larger docking bays in the main hangar area.  The crew can see a similar HK model droid standing guard at the hangar threshold to what you imagine is the inside of this asteroid.

    navyik wrote:

The crew is met by a squad of about 15 Mandalorians (or maybe cosplay fans from the last Starcon).

    The Price of Honor 10637810

    The Price of Honor Mandal12

They are all heavily armed, though not aggressive.  Tarro notices that the armor styles vary greatly and he can see several different clan insignia on various members of the group.  They form a loose escort around the crew and lead them back towards what appears to be a Mandalorian ship.  It is similar to the Wrenvenge, but older and probably not as powerful.

    The Price of Honor Akavi_10

Standing in front of the ship is a tall female Zabrak.  She addresses the one dressed in red mando armor.  She speaks in Mand'oa.  None of the crew understand her, which you guess is her intent.

Tarro had forgotten the sound of Mand'oa, it is almost like he knew the language once..... then as if in a moment of deja-vu, he understands her.  Tarro knows this has something to do with his missing memories......

    "Copaani mirshmure'cye, vod?"

Tarro considers Akavi's phrase, which can have 2 meanings in Mand'oa.   It can either mean, more literally,  "Do you need a hand, mate?" or when used as a challenge,  "Do you need a smack (from my hand), mate?"

Sorry; somehow I failed to notice the GM post before Josh's question.

A Mandalorian would recognized the unique tilt of Tarro's helmeted head as a respectfully wry smile. Tarro would like both, but only has time for the litteral meaning. There is nothing a Manalorian man fears more than a Mandalorian woman.

Tarro replies in Mandoa with a business tone. "I need repairs. I have weapons and armor to trade."

    The Price of Honor Akavi_10

There is a bit of low murmuring among Akavi's crew.  Sparr lifts her head, the slightest of gestures, and they fall silent.  She replies in basic, "Tarro Bloodwren, Champion of the Bloodwren Clan in the Great Hunt.  You show the Banchō (there is no direct translation) Honor by addressing us in Mand'oa."

Banchō (番長?) may refer to either a governmental position during the Ritsuryō period, or the leader of a group of delinquents.

Tarro knows Akavi is referring to the second meaning.  Dishonored Mandalorians are less than Ronin in status.

Sparr continues, "We have no need of weapons and armor, only restoring our Honor holds any value to us.   You have 2 choices: Copaani mirshmure'cye, vod?  We challenge you.  If we win, we can take your head back to Mandalore the Pretender (same derogatory title Ionus used) and he will restore our clan.  Or we can die with honor at the hand of a true Mandalorian.  You can then take our ship for parts."

Tarro senses the other Mandalorians are remaining calm, which is a credit to their training and mental state.

Sparr offers the alternative, "Copaani mirshmure'cye, vod? Or, you can give us the chance to capture an enemy ship in your name.  We will submit the needed parts in tribute to you.  We will serve you during the Great Hunt as you desire.  When you claim victory, you must restore our honor by taking us into the clan Bloodwren or your new clan, as is the Champion's right."

You can fight these Mandos here and now to get your parts

    or

I have another fight planned for you while you wait for them to get your tribute

    or

    you can try something else

    totally up to you guys

He IS insinuating that he would defeat them if they were to fight.

it's been 24 hrs, I guess there are no other comments or questions.

Akavi Sparr takes her crew and departs for their intended prey - one of Admiral Harridax Kirill's, known as the Voidwolf, ships.

The party returns to the Tortuga and continues work on repairs to the Wrenvenge

    The Price of Honor 13907810

Bos and T'son take their turn manning the security checkpoint.  HK-55 gleefully hunts womp rats and mynocks in the tunnels.  "Kill count - 6.... kill count - 7...." can be heard following bursts of blaster fire.

Jakarro is chatting with Sharn and handing him tools.  SDX is working on the sensors with Shivak's help and Tarro is still trying to repair the engines.

Suddenly, a klaxon siren screams and lights begin to flash in the hangar bay.

A familiar gruff voice and alien image appears on the giant holo display for all to see

    The Price of Honor Jakarr11

    The Price of Honor Black_10

Jakarro replies, "Rrrhahawwahr, uurrhhggga, kyysyyyrrk"  (Fire up the Port's hyperdrive as fast as possible)

Jakarro bellows and many of the nearby pirates rally to his side.  He addresses Sharn and his crew.  The droid head translates, "If the Eldrazi gain control of the guns (Dockmaster tower) they will turn them on Port Nowhere.  If they gain control of engineering, we can't jump away to hyperspace.  I will take the pirates to one location if you will go to the other.  Which path do you want?"

study  This will be a mini dungeon, with a series of encounters either way you go.  Both are located on the Tortuga (you current location)

    1) up to the Dockmaster's tower, which controls the Port's guns

    2) down to Engineering to secure the Port's hyperdrive, so you can safely jump away

You can take all your supplies from the ship, don't expect to be able to rest during the series of encounters.  Read Sharn's conversation with Jakarro if you want more info on the Eldrazi Twisted Evil

Chris wrote:Jakarro glances about, aware not arouse the other pirates, then remembers he is speaking in Shyriiwook.

No one has been down there, but the Dockmaster can help guide you.    It is pretty much a straight shot through the tunnels, past the cantina area, down the tubrolifts, to engineering.

    I will provide maps.

Shivak will activate Enhance Ability and Combat Mind (full round action to activate both).

    Enhance Ability:

    Roll(1d20)+15:

    Total:31

    +8 to Dex.

    Combat Mind:

    Roll(1d20)+6:
    10,+6
    Total:16

I can't seem to find the book link that I had for this. I believe that's only a +1 to attack rating.

Hold yer danged horses, Im trying to get clarification here. This would be SDX making this clarification the moment the choice to assault the engineering section was made.

So, we have the Dockmaster with us, correct?

"Dockmaster creature, or any companion creatures - can you provide immediate visual observation of the engineering location, such as provided by a security system or monitoring camera?"

Just so I am making this clear, If we have anyway that we would know of to SEE the engineering section, I need to know about it. Such as the standard video phone comm link that one might find in a ship or space station. I just need to see into the engineering room. We've been around the station a little and maybe SOMEONE knows of something that would work for that?

Being able to call up a map on a console/station may suffice too.

No, the dockmaster is not, nor has he ever been, in your physical presence. You have only interacted with the holo of the chubby alien.

Ok, sure Matt - the Dockmaster pulls up a security camera feed from engineering. It is unoccupied currently and seems entirely automated.

    Thanks GM!!!

    SDX interrupts his companion's preparations.

"Travel through tunnels unnecessary. Companions gather in immediate physical proximity. Eidolon, stand away and block entry to this location."

SDX expends one use of mystic power to activate - Path feature, Divine Surge: Inspired Spell

(Su): You can expend one use of mythic power to cast any one divine spell, treating your caster level as 2 levels higher. This spell must be on your divine spell list (or your domain or mystery spell list) and must be of a spell level that you can cast using that divine spellcasting class. If you are a spontaneous spellcaster, you don't need to have the spell prepared, nor does it need to be on your list of spells known. Using this ability does not expend a prepared spell or available spell slot. You can apply any metamagic feats you know to this spell, but its total spell slot level must be a slot level you can normally cast.

Casting spell, Teleport at caster level 13
    http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/coreRulebook/spells/teleport.html#teleport

At caster level 13, SDX can transport himself, 4 medium creatures + their gear. The Eidilon will be left behind.

The engineering room has been seen once. As per the table on the spell description page, we arrive on target on a roll of 1-76.

GM - feel free to do the honors on the roll.

SDX initiates a rapid but intense series of calculations designed to split dimensional cohesion, and begins opening a double ended wormhole between the engineering room and our current location...

    cheers Cool idea!

study However..... I am not sure I understand how SDX is able to cast this spell.  Can you explain?  scratch

I highlighted, in your text quote, the parts that seem relevant and in conflict with SDX's ability to cast it.

    From Summoner:

Spells: A summoner casts arcane spells drawn from the summoner spell list.

Summoner is an arcane caster, thus has no divine spell lists that he is able to access

    Teleport

School conjuration (teleportation); Level sorcerer/wizard 5

Teleport is an arcane spell, not a divine one anyways, so it wouldn't be eligible for this Mythic power, since it isn't a divine spell

and per the Summoner table, SDX can't cast 5th level spells until he is 13th level.

The underlined part may be where the confusion lies - there are spontaneous divine casters.  You still have to be a divine caster, it must be a divine spell only and it must be something you can cast.  The underlined part doesn't negate the earlier text, it just clarifies it, since spontaneous casters have both spell lists and known spells.

    Am I missing something?

Yup. The memories of the conversation we had when I made the character, when you stated I could apply the mythic power to the summoner spell list. Wink

First and foremost, "teleport" is on the Summoner spell list.

I'll make a definitive, notated edit on the character sheet for you. It now reads clearly "Path feature, Summoner Surge: Inspired Spell (Su): You can expend one use of mythic power to cast any one Summoner spell, treating your caster level as 2 levels higher" as per your approval.

Oh! Its all good, I am more concerned with ensuring that we have a mutual understanding of the rules than "getting my way". To be fair to the whole crew, we've got to keep to the rule set!

That being said, I want to request an adjustment to the rule set! LOL! The heirophant mythic path feature " Divine Surge, Inspired Spell" =

Path feature, Divine Surge : Inspired Spell (Su): You can expend one use of mythic power to cast any one divine spell, treating your caster level as 2 levels higher.

Can we change that "any one summoner spell" instead of divine?

That seems fine, summoner is such a small list of spells, as you noted previously.  Just make sure to note that on your character sheet as an approved modification.

The room is full of power rods and wiring.  At first glance it looks like my garage - clearly rewired by someone not trained as an electrician.

The party arrives in Engineering, ahead of the waves of Eldrazi, but only by moments.  You can hear the sound of screams and blaster fire outside the room.  (everyone takes their 1 round of buffs, as before)

The party will be defending Engineering from the waves of Eldrazi, instead of fighting through them to get to Engineering.

The hyperdrive reactor is in the SW corner.  If the Eldrazi destroy it, Port Nowhere is lost.

The arrows show possible points of entry, holes in the walls, doors, etc.

The black squares are support pillars.  H-13 and O-15

There is wrecked mining carts\equipment   I-19

    The Price of Honor 1_tunn12

    Questions?

The party has no LOS currently on any Eldrazi

The map appears to have some forced perspective in it which is confusing me.  Are all the brown squares on the same level, or are we standing in a pit?

Is the hyperdrive a solid mass, or a passable space?

From whence do we hear battle noises?  Off the map, or on the map, but unrevealed?

If the brown is flat, the map is empty, and the drive is passable, then this is Tarro's offering of a plan:

"I can cover most of this from the central pillar.  I will need one of you to cover my back at the stairs and another to cover the blind spots south-east.  The fourth can cover the hyperdrive itself as the last line of defense."  (Zone defense a la The Outlaw Josey Wales).

    cheers Great questions!

1 - you are inside an asteroid, that has been carved out from mining and retrofitted with parts from starhips.  The brown is rock floor of the asteroid itself.  The map is effectively all 1 level, the steps leading up\down into the rooms represent a negligible change in height and are more representative of the fact that there is an entry\exit doorway\archway present at that location.

2 - The Hyperdrive core itself is solid in the area where you see all the tubes.  There are passable areas around all sides of it, though there are some fences in a "C" (from the looks of it) and a tangled mass of wiring.  Consider it "difficult" terrain to go around the backside.

3 - sounds of battle from the N, NW, W.  From your current position, you can really only see the map exit around A 13-16.  The party cannot see anything on the right side of the map.  I didn't add any tokens for areas that you cannot see. I probably should have fogged it over......

Tarro hustles off to secure his kill zone: fog of war reduced.

    SDX begins downloading his nano-dino-bots

Suddenly a large bio-mass of Eldrazi (L) appears instantly (  study SDX ain't the only one with teleports) next to Shivak, Sharn and SDX.  It is a quivering mass of mouths and tentacles.  It is hard to get a good look at it as it is constantly shifting its form, distracting your vision.

The Eldrazi (L) releases a cloud of something, spores from the look of them into the air (free action)!  The spores land on Shivak, Sharn and SDX dealing
    Roll(1d8)+0:
    6,+0
    Total:6

study 6 damage to each of you as they bore into your skin or exosuits.  Any DR applies, but there is no save or SR.

SDX needs to make a Concentration check or lose his spell

Injury: If you take damage while trying to cast a spell, you must make a concentration check with a DC equal to 10 + the damage taken + the level of the spell you're casting. If you fail the check, you lose the spell without effect. The interrupting event strikes during spellcasting if it comes between the time you started and the time you complete a spell (for a spell with a casting time of 1 full round or more) or if it comes in response to your casting the spell (such as an attack of opportunity provoked by the spell or a contingent attack, such as a readied action).

    Concentration check = 10 + 6 (damage) + 5 (spell level) = 21

I need a Perception check from everyone except Tarro (no LOS).  It won't change the outcome, but it might explain things.
