No problem, Bronson. I don't mean to be pushy with reminders or anything. I tend to get antsy for action... Things seemed to have slowed way down, I think it was nearly a month passed in between Chef's turns.

    Game on!

The inconsistent pace is my fault. I've been swamped. I will try to be more regular.

Nah. Don't take all the blame, Alan. It's a combination of things. Mostly folks just taking 3-4 days to respond or take their turn. I'm guilty of it too. Everyone's busy. Gaming takes a backseat to work and family commitments.

I do try to check in at least once a day (so long as I have internet access), but certainly don't expect others to do as such.

I agree it is a collective effort or lack thereof.  Checking once per day should be doable, barring unusual circumstances.  That generally keeps the pace going, effectively 1 rd per day, which is fine for forum play.

As Big John McCartney would say, "Let's get it on!"

    Lumenor
    HP: 24
    AC: 16

Lumenor reaches into his torch's flame with his free hand, and scoops out a handful of living fire, which he holds in his palm and admires for just a moment while the battle erupts around the doors.

He then flings it like a dart at the armored goblin that stands before Chef (F/16).

    PRODUCE FLAME
School evocation [fire]; Level druid 1
    Casting Time 1 standard action
    Components V, S
    Range 0 ft.
    Effect flame in your palm
    Duration 1 min./level (D)
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance yes
Flames as bright as a torch appear in your open hand. The flames harm neither you nor your equipment.

In addition to providing illumination, the flames can be hurled or used to touch enemies. You can strike an opponent with a melee touch attack, dealing fire damage equal to 1d6 + 1 point per caster level (maximum +5). Alternatively, you can hurl the flames up to 120 feet as a thrown weapon. When doing so, you attack with a ranged touch attack (with no range penalty) and deal the same damage as with the melee attack. No sooner do you hurl the flames than a new set appears in your hand. Each attack you make reduces the remaining duration by 1 minute. If an attack reduces the remaining duration to 0 minutes or less, the spell ends after the attack resolves.

Starts with 3 minutes of flame, each attack uses 1 minute

    Melee touch attack =
Result of the throw of dice "1d20 +2" :

    13 + 2 = 15

    dmg =
Result of the throw of dice "1d6 +3" :

Chef's blade glances off of the armor's pauldrons.

    The Armored Goblins respond expertly:
Chef is slashed across the side-ribs where his armpit is exposed. 5 damage.

Lumenor's partial cover isn't quite enough. The Goblin's halberd catches a lucky shot, bursting an artery in lumenor's outstretched spellcasting arm. 10 damage (was a crit).

Tarek gets an evil grin on his face.... he will move to the space directly behind the guard at 12 o'clock (sorry, but the numbers and letters don't really work for this map, no offense intended)

This requires an acrobatics move to try and avoid an AoO.

Then he will Sneak attack with his long sword from the flanking position opposite Chef

    Acro. Check:

    Roll(1d20)+9:
    14,+9
    Total:23

I would think that would make it but let me know if it doesn't....

    Sneak attack:

    Roll(1d20)+2:
    13,+2
    Total:15

eh... not sure if that hits. If it does...

    Roll(1d8)+2:
    2,+2
    Total:4

    Roll(1d6)+0:
    5,+0
    Total:5

Total of 9 damage if he happens to hit. Tarek is finished (HP: 24/32)

Lumenor makes a double move to run back around to the other door where he can enter the room unopposed. ReR follows.

His goal is to get as close to M11 as possbile, or end there if he has sufficient movement.

Ian chuckles at the cook's comments, but he figures this fight is already in progress and the quickest end is to finish these two.  Ian will charge the goblin at H-14.

The last armored goblin is dispatched.

On the left side of the map there is a lamp stand, a podium with some kind of logue book, and a small shrine to the history of the towers. The goblins have their armor and halberds.

    Perception checks please.

Please also keep up with your stat blocks like the example below:

    Ian Trustram
    HP 39\39
    AC 18 (touch 10, FF 18) **16 after charge**
    CMD 10+3+2 = 15

After perception checks it will be Theodras' turn.

Ian's city watch instincts take over and he will inspect the log book, without touching it. If he needs to flip pages he will use the tip of his dagger. Ian asks the group as he works, "Anybody hurt?"

    The latest logue entry reads:

They attacked at dusk. A few of the villagers were able to retreat into to the tower before we were forced to seal the doors. The rest were slaughtered. Now the tower is beseiged.

An analysis of their other attacks suggests an interest in the meteorite fragments. That puts the whole realm in danger.

We are planning an escape through the catacombs to extract survivors, along with some of the artifacts. Sooner or later they will discover the secret entrance. Our mechanics are working on disassembling the fragments upstairs. When it is ready, we will set a diversion.

There are no further entries. Ian and lumenor hear rattling and ratcheting from the central staircase.

    Theodras is up.

    Theodras
    HP: 25/30
    AC: 16
    Move: 30

    Perception check: 19+12=31 Shocked

Theodras walks over and picks up his longbow from the floor. He then checks out the shrine for anything noteworthy. He's looking for keys, valuables, written notes, etc.

Theodras notes that the volumes in this room appear to encyclopedic histories of the realm dating back hundreds of years. There are also maybe 5 years of recent logues like the one Ian was reading. Next to Ian is an ink well, a jar of quills, a blotter and a wax sealing kit with the seal of the librarians.

Theodras also hears mechanical sounds above and smells a recent introduction of livestock coming from up the central stairwell; presumably the hamsters. He is pretty sure there are more.

Also around the room are a discarded vial with traces of irridescant green liquid and the blood trail of the hamster he shot leading up the steps.

To clarify, the central staircase is a spiral stair, leading upwards to another level, correct? And the noises and smells we are perceiving are coming from upstairs, correct?

Correct on both. To add: the staircase is enclosed in a central column.

"Companions, take heed. Smoke rises from the heat of righteous battle. If enough smoke climbed these stairs to choke the hateful lungs and sting the spiteful eyes of the evils waiting above, might not they descend to meet us rather than wait to spring treachery upon on our arrival?"

Lumenor looks around for fuel that could be used to start a fire on the lower steps. We would not want to burn useful books, so we'll want to identify stuff that might be helpful to spare.

Otherwise - I propose we smoke these guys out rather than charge up the stairs into a kill funnel.

I just spread everyone out, so let me know if you want to be somewhere else on the map.   I tried to put the fire at what looks like the base of the spiral stairs with our 2 heavies closest to the landing and the rest further back.

Chef's placement is fine. Smoking them out sounds like a good plan.

He waits at the ready, pondering the various ways to cook up some giant hamster..

Ian taps his boots, spits, grabs his crotch, adjusts his gauntlets, spits, and then hefts his greatsword up on his shoulder waiting for the pitch.....

Tarek will stand next to the human torch, directly to Luminor's right. He will help build a fire as well but will keep one sword in hand, ready for combat.
