    Top gets an AoO

Ian's Trip attack vs CMD (same size)
Result of the throw of dice "1d20 +6" :

    10 + 6 = 16

let me know if positions need adjusting

Ian's blade makes contact, but fails to to penetrate. The top teeters temporarily, but skitters across the floor to Q-16. It slams into the wall, which scoops it off to G-20. It careens into E-10 before slashing back at Ian. The pilot's intense glare is all Ian sees as it barrels down on him to Overrun! Twisted Evil

The aging Paladin sprawls and takes 8 dmg as the top moves on to p-17

scratch that didn't work out as planned.....

Ian lays on floor, talking to nobody in particular, "I'm just telling everybody. We can look for the North Pole, or we can play 'Here we go gathering Nuts in May' with the end part of an ants' nest. It's all the same to me."

Follow earlier plan. Huffing up the steps, he attempts to get to M-11.  Takes a swing at the top, using earlier attack formula:
    Attack: 8 + 8 = 16 (18 if Flanking)
    If that's a hit, 9 + 3 = 12 damage

Chef has one Hero point remaining: can I spend that to help Ian up, so as to gain Flanking?

Chef springs into action, his second wind gets him moving to help Ian up.

As I am applying a strange mechanic here, I need more descriptive attacks from everyone. Particularly directional factors.

Perception che for Chef as well.

    HP: 17/30
    AC: 16
    Move: 30

Theodras hurries up the stairs behind Chef, stopping just behind him. He peeks into the room past Chef to see what they are fighting. Abhorred at seeing such a thing, he scans the strange spinning top for a weak spot or an exposed power source.

Chef sees a door on the far wall.

The top lurches, back-spinning off of Chef's blade.  Theodras can see the pilot's eyes go wide, but the machine stays loosely under his control, bouncing backwards and back at Chef like a flailing tenderizer!

Chef has a vision; a ham being slow-smoked; cured to perfection. The Chef prepares it with loving care. He stokes the fire and then rubs the mustard and sweet rub in as the coals dim and smoulder. The ham is placed on the grill and the fire nurtured several hours at the perfect temperature. A sweet honey glaze is added to the sauce as the Chef bastes the ham liberally. Finally it is ready and served with potatoes and a garnish to a delighted table of eager guests, both noble and peasants alike.

Chef is whisked into his past; he is a boy. "I need a good strong boy to chop wood for my hearth and ovens," the innkeeper says to Chef's father.

    Time

"No, lad, we don't chop the mutton, we SLICE it..."

    Time

"No, young man, we do not mix the sauce, we INCORPORATE ingredients INTO the sauce..."

Then darkness and a distant glimmering.

Sorry I let it get so messy.

    Tarek m-11
    Theo k-14
    Top p-16

Lumenor is at bottom of steps.

After all delay and shifts in action, here we are:

    Ian
    Chef
    Tarek
    Goblin
    Theo
    Lumenor

Theo still has a standard action.

    Lumenor is on deck.

Reacting to the glimmering visions of baked ham and a childhood lost which eminates from his dying psyche, Chef absently licks his broken lips. Blood and spittle pools around his downward face, chocking him in his own juices. Like some gutted bull in the field, he is left to perish in the lonely darkness of the unknown. If only he could suck on Grandma Gertrude's home-baked peppermint candies one last time. That was a long time ago. His mind turns to the divine... 'Cullen, I am coming!'

Lumenor will burst up the stairs to end in K/12 (top of the stairs, where Theodoras is moving Chef through) - and as they pass, will wave his torch in a short but complex pattern over his head - casting "Stabilize" on Chef.

School conjuration (healing); Level cleric 0, druid 0
    Casting Time 1 standard action
    Components V, S
    Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
    Target one living creature
    Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless); Spell Resistance: yes (harmless)
Upon casting this spell, you target a living creature that has –1 or fewer hit points. That creature is automatically stabilized and does not lose any further hit points. If the creature later takes damage, it continues dying normally.

Ian flips his greatsword around in his hands, so the point is now downward.  He takes a couple steps (5ft step to N-16), just to get his weight moving, then jumps up in the air bringing the point of his greatsword down with all his mass.   Ian is trying to pierce through the spinning top, from above, hopefully driving his sword point all the way through and to the stone to stop the spinning.

"Then again... I might be going for a ride" Ian thinks to himself, mid-jump, "I better hang on tight!"

Chef's vision jumps, he is outside his body, watching.

"I am the Chef," says a voice from above. "I have known you since before your birth. You are tender and well cured. I have long prepared you for the tasks ahead; I have seasoned and simmered you, tasted and garnished you. I present you as a pleasing delight to my starving world. Feed my people and give them strength for the battle."

While Chef knows the voice speaks metaphorically, he also knows that his cooking can heal the wounded and the sick.

Sparks fly as the mighty great sword drives home, though not quite to the stone. It sends the top out of control for a moment. Ian's sword luckily comes free as his weight and leverage replace the top's axis. The pilot's head bobbles helplessly as temporary run-out sends it bouncing around the room and finally to M-9 provoking AoO from Tarek.

Attacking the pilot is considerably more difficult, but Tarek hits, (no crit). Vulnerable from the side spin, the pilot takes a slash to the hard bones in his skull above the temple.

Chef is up. He is out of his body.

Chef remembers a time long ago in his past, when he was just a wee lad, even before he was a baker's apprentice. On hot summer evenings Granny Gertrude would often spin yarns on the back patio of the family hovel. She'd rock steadily in her old pine chair, her one good leg wrapped around the peg and swigging rum like a true sailor. She often told the young ones about her days of piracy and once she'd nearly drowned due to a kraken attack. Dragged from the caravel, she breathed water for several minutes. She had explained how she'd been witness to it, observing it all during an OOBE (out of body experience) while hovering in the air over the scene, watching as her shipmates fished her body from the sea and revived her.

The image had stayed with Chef lo these many years and now he played witness to a similar vision.

Judging that his comrades have the death-toy well in hand, not wanting to waste any more time, he makes a beeline straight for the door across the room. If it is closed, he attempts to run through it.

Make a Will save DC 15 to walk through the door without feeling the need to bounce off of it.

Chef finds a staircase behind the door.

Tarek manages another slash to the pilot's head before it gains control.  The machine rocks into the wall and back at Tarek, who dodges cleverly.

    Not done yet.

    Action pending.

As if inspired, the goblin pilot leans his machine onto its side and kicks out its footing to roll it laterally at Tarek, running him down.  Appearing as though it would have continued to trample Ian, it fails, coming up short at m-14.

Tarek takes 9 Dmg and is prone.

    Theodras is up.

The top is back squarely on its point.

Chef finds a makeshift alchemy lab, filled with curiosities. Cages line the walls, many empty, but some with strange creatures. A goblin alchemist and two apprentices work hurriedly to finish a concoction, whilst the goblin Knight is preparing to let a monster out of its cage. Chef also sees the wounded hamster from before in a cage with one other.

He has very good cover, but you do have line of sight and effect.
