thanks for the reply, sorry for the delay on my end....

    at 14, the Xeno-wasps go...

1 breaks free of Argul's mental thrall, the other remains prostrated

The 2 that lost their target when Argul vanished, find new prey and dive bomb Skree!

The first wraps its long tail around the raptor, Skree is Grappled!
The second misses with its acid-stinger attack

The 2 on Zang renew their attacks with the help of the freed one.  Sadly, the dice gods are not with them today, as all 3 miss their attacks\grapples  Crying or Very sad

    SR - 20

    Phrenic Pool - 6/8

    Potions used: Heal Mod
    Racial SLA used: Vanish
    Action points used: 1

    GM FYI -

The wasp that broke free from OvPres cannot take any actions (I know he missed, but just fyi) - making a save to break free is a full round action. Additionally, it now takes WIS dmg and is staggered for 1d4 rnds. See spell description copy pasta below.

Which should affect its saves for the next attack Wink

Argul sees that he and Zang have drawn the Wasp's into a tight, easily targeted knot, and his hand instinctively reaches for the silver chain of pyro-kinetic blasts (necklace of fireballs) worn around his neck, ready to unleash a fiery blast into their midst...

Seeing at the last moment that Zang was unable to free himself, he changes plans, once again tapping his deep reserve of OVERWHELMING PRESENCE, anchoring the attack at the intersection of N-O/11-12 to ensure all of the airborne Wasps are struck.

    OVERWHELMING PRESENCE
    School enchantment (compulsion) [emotion, mind-affecting]; Level bard 6, cleric 9, inquisitor 6, sorcerer/wizard 9
    Casting Time 1 standard action
    Components V, S, M (a swan feather)
    Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Targets one creature/level, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart
    Duration 1 round/level
Saving Throw Will negates, see text; Spell Resistance yes
Your presence inspires incredible awe in those nearby. A creature that fails a save against this spell falls to the ground and prostrates itself before you, believing it bows before a divine presence. A flying creature incapable of hovering must land immediately in order to prostrate itself. These creatures are considered to be helpless for the duration of the spell. Each round on its turn, a target of this spell may attempt a new saving throw to end the effect; this is a full-round action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. A creature that recovers from this spell early after being affected by it for at least 1 round takes 1d6 points of Wisdom drain and is staggered for 1d4 rounds. A creature that makes the initial save to resist this spell is merely staggered for 1 round.

    Save DC 19
    (10+ Spell lvl 4 + INT bonus 4 + phrenic amphlificaion "overpowering mind" +1)

This causes him to become visible again.

Knowing he is battered and torn from earlier attacks, he spends an action point for an extra standard action, and downs a potion of cure moderate wounds.

Result of the throw of dice "2d8 +3" :

    6 + 8 + 3 = 17

    17 dmg healed

affraid my bad on the spell results, sorry.  That wasp is indeed staggered for 3 more turns (max, since I goofed) and took -6 WIS damage.

All but one of the wasps bow and hover in the air towards Argul.   The two on Skree begin rubbing their hind legs together which makes a chirping sound.

at 11, the Xeno-Saurus Rex makes to charge Brick, but then pauses, as if evaluating the situation.  The King is showing signs of higher intelligence than the drones or warriors.  The King's body flahses momentarily with a green hue as it whips its long tail over its head like a scorpion.  A jet of acidic mucus flies at one of the Bricks.  (chain lighting re-skinned to acid, 1\day  cast at 12th, DC17). The King does not move, as if waiting for Brick. Acid drool drips from his smiling maw Twisted Evil

Luckily, it hits one of the images!  But much to Brick's dismay, it seems to bounce off each image, also hitting Brick.  Both images disolve and Brick is hit with a secondary jet of acid

Reflex Save of 17 -2 (secondary bolt) = 15 for half damage, all acid

Result of the throw of dice "12d6" :

    1 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 1 + 3 + 1 + 4 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 3 = 37

Argul can see the acid jet heading his way, but he is safely out of range.  The acid jet fizzles out, leaving a smoldering trail of slime on the battlefield.

at 10, the Facehuggers, who are left with no other viable targets (invisible or flying) swarm on Skree.  2 reach Skree, but both miss.  2 more on nearby.

good job using the 5e combat mechanics!

The King looks down at his stubby arms with disdain and wonders about his choice of host body type.  Perhaps a Pteranadon would have been better, the queen is always right That blow definitely hurt the King, who had also taken a good fireball earlier from Korvaq (you guys have done 90 total damage so far!)

The Psychic class has a lot of potential in a controller/debuffer role. Just scratching the surface!

the abilities remind me of Presence and Dominate from Vampire. that spell you keep using is like Presence 5 - Majesty, where they just drop in awe of you and can't possibly think of raising a hand against you

I could also see it re-skinned into the mental side of Force powers - affect mind on a larger scale, "You will desist from attacking me"

Is Skree still grappled after Argul cast Overwhelming Presence? Also, can the bug that grappled Skree be able to rub his legs and still keep the grapple?

Zang lets loose with a lightning bolt. the target is the xeno bug grappling Skree, or if he is no longer grappled, then one of the bugs surrounding Zang. Electricity damage: 3 + 9 + 9 + 1 + 7 = 29 electricity damage.  Reflex Save vs DC 21 for 1/2 damage.

Skree will go once my questions are clarified.

The creatures that are affected by the spell all have the condition "Helpless" -

Helpless: A helpless character is paralyzed, held, bound, sleeping, unconscious, or otherwise completely at an opponent's mercy. A helpless target is treated as having a Dexterity of 0 (–5 modifier). Melee attacks against a helpless target get a +4 bonus (equivalent to attacking a prone target). Ranged attacks get no special bonus against helpless targets. Rogues can sneak attack helpless targets.

As a full-round action, an enemy can use a melee weapon to deliver a coup de grace to a helpless foe. An enemy can also use a bow or crossbow, provided he is adjacent to the target. The attacker automatically hits and scores a critical hit. (A rogue also gets his sneak attack damage bonus against a helpless foe when delivering a coup de grace.) If the defender survives, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die. Delivering a coup de grace provokes attacks of opportunity.

Creatures that are immune to critical hits do not take critical damage, nor do they need to make Fortitude saves to avoid being killed by a coup de grace.

    sorry the narrative wasn't clear!

the leg rubbing, by the ones on the ground, is just their way of showing admiration for their new lord Argul

All of the bug tokens turned sideways are "disabled" and HELPLESS (thanks Matt) by Argul's spell, which includes the 2 on Skree.  Skree is free of the grapple.  The only bug not disabled is 1 on Zang.

    Which wasp does Zang target?
    Zang still has a move

Skree is free to act as well

    OK, thanks for the clarification.

Zang zaps the bug that is not Helpless next to him. If it's dead, he moves 30' higher. If not, he remains where he's at.

Skree takes the opportunity to do a coup de grace on a prostrated winged bug. Spend a Hero point and kills the second one too.

    Resist Acid 10 points
no other effects, wand -6 charges

As Korvaq becomes visible during his attacks, he shouts at the beast "You will decorate the walls of the house of Martok! You are nothing but a dishonorable demon that deserves death!"

affraid ack... GM's eyes have been critically hit with a wall of text!

    1st shot hits = 30 total damage
    2nd shot misses = 0
3rd shot - crit! = but you didn't calculate damage correctly drunken
quit using that old 3.X crap Evil or Very Mad

    if PF
A critical hit means that you roll your damage more than once, with all your usual bonuses, and add the rolls together. Unless otherwise specified, the threat range for a critical hit on an attack roll is 20, and the multiplier is ×2.

study I will give you the benefit of a good roll, so crit damage is 2x(8+3) = 22

Fire from the want (barely made that UMD check) does double damage, but the King made his save, so it's still 16

    cheers 30 + 22 + 16 = 68 total!

The King staggers from multiple big hits, but he is still on his feet (barely)

Argul turns to regard the Xenosaurus Rex below and glares in disapproval at his extremely aggressive behavior.
"SHAME on you!" he declares as he admonishes the creature with a psychic attack...

Argul bumps up the save DC by burning a Phrenic pool point.

    MIND THRUST IV
School divination [mind-affecting]; Level psychic 1
    Casting Time 1 standard action
    Components S
    Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
    Target one creature
    Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw Will half; Spell Resistance yes
You divine the most vulnerable portions of your opponent's mind and overload it with a glut of psychic information. This attack deals 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 5d6). The target receives a Will save for half damage. This attack has no effect on creatures without an Intelligence score.

    MIND THRUST IV
    School divination; Level psychic 4
This functions as mind thrust I, but the target takes 1d8 points of damage per caster level (maximum 15d8) and is fatigued for 1 round if it fails its save. This spell can be undercast.

WILL Save for half damage and 1 round of fatigue.

The Xeno-saurus Rex looks up at Argul after being scolded.  It opens its maw to reply, but the light in his eyes just seems to fade out.  The King simply slumps face forward onto the ground, utterly defeated.

The remaining Facehuggers scuttle away under rocks, their morale broken.

Xeno-Praxia cries out in anguish at the loss of her king.

Congratulations, you just beat a CR 12 mythic enemy with some lesser adds, totaling about a CR15 encounter!

study the party receives a battlefield promotion to 10th level cheers

and since you defeated a Mythic opponent.... you can also choose a mythic archetype and 1 level of mythic hero

the scene is going to continue and roll basically into another fight, but I will start a new thread for it shortly and give everyone time for their +1UP +1mythicUP

you'll understand in the next thread, but go ahead and assume you are fully healed and rested

Bricks theme increases in volume.  Having not SEEN Argul's attack, Brick Rockman swoops in for the PIN.   Ghost sound rings the bell and Brick stands up with his arms high to acknowledge the cheering crowd.

    ROFL!

Argul can't help but grin at the self-absorbed antics of the strange grappler. He lowers himself to the ground while turning his attention to Xeno-Praxia -

"Now then, Madam - explain yourself! What is this nonsense?!"

Thrown out as potential role-play fodder while we update.

luckily Korvaq had ACID resistance up, but whatever tool you used to cut off the claws gets melted by his acidic blood

the claws could be used to craft a weapon with +acid damage
its chitin could be used to craft armor\trinket with resist acid 10

fair warning: this is likely the final battle

take whatever mythic and combat feats you want. this will be a big fight, but likely the story will end shortly afterwards

also worth considering for magic items

Are you saying we can "re-spec" our feats? Because 10th isn't a feat lvl....

    no re-spec

but just a suggestion to go for combat as there won't be much else, beyond storytelling

mythic gets a mythic feat, ability, class\archetype
