    Menkuare repositions himself near Mime who now enjoys his aura of protection.  The firebolt singes the Spider bot (previously unharmed).  
    Spiders I-6 and J-8 are both injured but functional

    "You're about to have a real problem if you don't listen to me about the spider droids..."

    As a bonus action he casts hunters mark on the spider bot  at I-17.
    Mime fires twice

    Mime advances and lays a double dose of laser beams into his marked target. The blasts seem to find particularly vulnerable spots.

    I-17 spider bot is killed in the middle of his hostile takeover of the Golem's brain.

    Ghost rips into Mask who seems surprised at the amount of fire he is taking.

    Mask decides that this fight is not worth his life.  He targets his orbital laser for maximum casualties - the 2 civilians and Menkaure!  Twisted Evil

    DC14 Dex save for 1/2 damage

    even with Mime's help, the 2 civies are burnt to ashes by the orbital laser blast!

    Mask bravely runs away (to J-4) and yells to the converted golem K-5 "get them, you fool!"

    Spider bot H-8 finishes converting the asuran cop and moves on to J-13 golem, the other spider begins conversion on golem K-7

    Menkaure needs a Dex save vs orbital laser, then he is up

    Menkaure takes 1/2 damage.  I guess he doesn't like being blasted by an orbital laser either?  Menkaure conjures  an impressive burst of speed and damage to the fleeing villain, which frankly caught the GM by surprise too  affraid

    Mask goes down on Menkaure's blade, his Ensaring strike restraining only a corpse now.

    The golem near Menkaure, as previously ordered slams him with a metallic fist dealing 9 damage.

    Goggles\Robot charges Mime and swings his two bladed arms.  One miss due to displacement and one hit for 11 damage.

    cops H9 and D10 fire at each other but both miss

    golem J-13 is having his mind wiped and can't act
    golem I-18 moves to K-17 to attack the blade-wielding robot but he misses with his slam attack

    the remaining civies scatter except for the one at S-3 who is watching the carnage with some interest Suspect

    the one remaining standing asuran cop is too busy being shot at to listen to Mime's well-argued thesis. the other just got plowed by one of his own golems. his large ears are ringing from the impact as he struggles up from the ground.

    Mime tags the spider bot nearest him.  NIce job with the feat to avoid disadvantage penalty when adjacent to an enemy.

    Diagonal movement is 5'. There is an option though, in DMG to do it more like PF does.

    Ghost moves across to K-12. As he does, he lets the SMG drop, it hangs from a harness across his shoulder. He draws his katana and makes two attacks at the spider bot. Use Fighting Spirit (Adv on attks).

    1) 17, 4... 17 + 9 = 26; hit) 1 + 6 = 7R.
    2) 16, 9... 16 + 9 = 25; hit) 2 + 6 = 8R.

    Ghost dices the spider bot into tiny pieces!  It fails to complete it's mind-wipe data-transfer with the golem.

    Mask is dead.  

    The 1 remaining spider bot, finished it's MWDT and jumps over to Menkaure.  It jumps onto the big cat's head and uses mini laser to drill through his skull.

    Menkaure needs to make an INT save DC 12

    Menkaure is up, but needs to make his save first.  If he succeeds, you can move, if he fails, then I need to make another roll first.

    Menkaure makes his save, so the spider bot is climbing on him, but not actually engaged with his mind attack. If it was a dagger, I would be fine with it, but given the size of the sword, I think the attack would be at Disadvantage. Please roll 1 more time and take the lower of the 2 rolls. if you miss the spider bot, you might hit yourself Twisted Evil

    Menkaure carely impales the spider bot climbing on his head.

    at 8, Goggles\Robot realizes that he is on the losing side of this exchange.  He steps away from Mime, who doesn't have a melee weapon out for AoO.

    Wut-chut-chut



    His robotic exoskeleton transforms again from the large clawed appearance to a VTOL-drone (reskinned druid again).  He flies away at top speed.  Everyone gets 1 action to shoot at him, if you want, if you have a ranged weapon in hand.  casting a ranged spell is also fine.  1 action


    The asuran cops stun and immobilize their 1 converted officer.  The converted Golems slump over into low power mode without an active controller (spider or Mask).

    combat will end, after we see if you can stop Goggles from escaping or not

    Ghost's SMG is slung over his shoulder. He had already grabbed his katana. If he is unable to switch weapons, that's fine. If you'll allow it, then Ghost is happy to fire a parting burst.

    Do the rules say you can't make a grapple attack as AoO?

    Generally, no, unless you are a monk or can make unarmed attacks as "armed" attacks.

    I wanted to double check 5e, since my mind generally thinks in PF....

    O p p o r t u n i t y A t t a c k s
    In a fight, everyone is constantly watching for enemies
    to drop their guard. You can rarely move heedlessly past
    your foes without putting yourself in danger; doing so
    provokes an opportunity attack.
    You can make an opportunity attack when a hostile
    creature that you can see moves out o f your reach. To
    make the opportunity attack, you use your reaction
    to make one melee attack against the provoking creature. The attack interrupts the provoking creature’s
    movement, occurring right before the creature
    leaves your reach.
    You can avoid provoking an opportunity attack by
    taking the Disengage action. You also don’t provoke an
    opportunity attack when you teleport or when someone
    or something moves you without using your movement,
    action, or reaction. For example, you don’t provoke an
    opportunity attack if an explosion hurls you out o f a foe’s
    reach or if gravity causes you to fall past an enemy.



    G r a p p l in g
    When you want to grab a creature or wrestle with it,
    you can use the Attack action to make a special melee
    attack, a grapple. If you’re able to make multiple attacks
    with the Attack action, this attack replaces one o f them.
    The target o f your grapple must be no more than one
    size larger than you, and it must be within your reach.
    Using at least one free hand,[u] you try to seize the target
    by making a grapple check, a Strength (Athletics)
    check contested by the target’s Strength (Athletics) or
    Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (the target chooses the
    ability to use).


    since Mime had 2 pistols out, he can't attempt a grapple here

    Mime doesn't see any swoops, so he opens fire

    Mime already used his Bonus action this turn.  You only get 1 bonus action per turn and this is already kind of an "extra bonus action" to shoot while departing.... nonetheless, Mime tags Goggles twice and his drone form spirals into a nearby shop, exploding on impact.  Nice job!  you guys did some fast damage there  cheers

    Combat is over.



    The Asuran cops detain their converted office.  One of them approaches the party, "Thank you for your help, citizens.  (he nods at Mime) You were most accurate in your assessment of the spider bots.  Tell me, how did you know about this threat?"

    The party notices the 1 civilian that didn't flee.  He was watching from the back of a kiosk.  He appears to be an older Asuran. (not holding a gun)



    He is still watching....

    "The suspect with the mask pushed a button on his gauntlet moments before your evidence collection droids deviated from their program and attacked your golems. I suspect it was signal jamming technology coupled with a corruption virus. I think if you check his wrist you may find some compatible hardware. I would advise using a closed circuit computer system to examine it. If that virus gets into your mainframe or internet you will have a really big problem."

    Cion, the crusty old asuran engineer tells Menkaure, "these bozo cops don't know what they're facing.  that gauntlet was just a remote control, not the main antenna itself.  there must be a master control relay somewhere around here.  if we can examine the gauntlet, I might be able to triangulate it's position....."

    before he can finish that thought......

    one of the cops, a younger one named Blidd, takes off his helmet and begins taking notes of Mime's statements.  he appears to understand the techinical nuances.



    the officer in charge, who initially questioned Mime, scoffs at his suggestions, "Thank you, we'll handle our own investigation."  He stomps off towards the body of Mask.  He takes out an evidence container to collect the gauntlet.  As he pulls it off Mask's arm, it explodes brilliantly, killing the Sargent and destroying 2 nearby golems.  No other civies or cops are injured.

    Emergency alarms sound in the marketplace from the explosion.




    Blidd, now the highest ranking officer on the scene, looks at Mime, "You guys better clear out, unless you want to be detained for questioning.  I know you weren't involved and were just trying to help.  Get lost before I have to do more paperwork."




    The old engineer Cion shakes his head as to say, "I told you so".  He turns to leave, so as to avoid questioning himself, "I might, MIGHT, be able to trace the signal from my lab.  If you are interested, follow me."

    REWARD:  for helping the Asuran police, the party gains FAVOR with the asuran police, especially the new young sargent Blidd (battlefield promotion), who is now considered an ALLY for all.

    study the party has some choices here....

    1) continue on your main quest.  head toward the border of Asuran city and Sky Maze, probably rest

    2)  follow Cion to his lab, stay in Floating City, and try to help find the master control tower to help the Asurans (earning more local favor, contacts, allies, possible clues to connection with Gith)

    3) anything else you want
