Unless someone else wants to GM, I am happy running this for a while.

I am curious to see what the crew wants to do next, as the seas are wide open to you with a few notable story hooks as possible options....

    • try to learn more about Verex\Elyssyss, god of the sea\rivers and plunder\hunger

try to find the lost city of Frostheim, home of Gundren's ancient line

try to find the lost treasure of Frostheim that went down with Rogan's armada due to King Dondren's curse

make repairs\upgrades to the ship, currently known as Grumsh's Eye

something personal to one of the characters

or literally anything else you want to do

    app builder, mod... whatever.

Not my game, not my call.

I won't bother with it but it sounds like the D&D version of Pathfinder's Hero Generator... if that's the case then yeah, very valuable for seeing how character builds can grow.

Sam would vote for finding more treasure!

jedi\sith not withstanding, the Paladin\Sorcerer combo looks really strong and like a fun multiclass option. Being able to cast in any armor with which you are proficient is a real game-changer.

Mtn dwarf starts prof in med armor, so a Mtn dwarf wizard\sorc could wear 1/2 plate, use a battle axe and still be a full class mage

oh, I'd like to see my former Sith guy from the last SW game under these rules.

I had an idea for heavily armed and armored force user under the old d20 rules. I bet he'd be just awesome under D&D rules

I'm gonna try a few versions of this build - might use it for "Adventurer's League" play. That is just such an ugly base for a wizard. I'm thinking a focus on touch attacks would suit, as the AC should allow it to hang in melee effectively.

That means he is probably healthy. If you them active during the daylight hours, or if they do not seem to respond much at all, it is usually rabies or distemper driving them to act "off-cycle". Being groggy and defensive that time of day is normal for them. I imagine he found a way in and was happy to discover warmth and shelter. Then less happy when the cave wall opened up and he got sprayed with water, lol!

hahaha! They are gifted thieves! At Ft Polk, they could unfasten all of the straps on a rucksack to get to your food without ripping or tearing anything - even if you had it cranked down hard and tied the straps in knots. Devious little bastards. The dogs will likely be unsettled as long as the scent lingers.

Hey! I'm still interested in joining Chris' pirates game at some point. Been trying to think of a good character. Alan described some of the story and the party make-up, and it sounds very appealing.

There isn't much chance of me resuming the Harkenwold game very soon. I've self-imposed restrictions on my online time. However I am focused on running a semi-regular Starfinder game in meatspace. Anyone is welcome to join, even if it's just for a session, so long as you're in town and want to slay some space goblins.

    You are always welcome, mate!

If you can get a character done, now 9th, standard pt buy, any race, quickly we could get you onboard before they leave Wyvern Bay. Otherwise, they can find you along the way.

Party is pretty balanced - not sure if anyone else has identified any glaring overall capability gaps? Maybe a dedicated healer, or crowd control/buff-debuff specialist? Anything will be welcome, of course.

    @Rob

the party is about to sail away from an easy location to join them. if you don't hop aboard now, they will have to find you on the way - ship wrecked, adrift in a life boat, etc

I don't care if have stats done or not, but even just a general idea to roleplay your way onto their ship is fine for now.

Two Kobold siege weapon crews would make sense... With Spears and shields to guard the ship when we are boarding or away. With our pretty bird to run messages between. They don't eat much...

Ok, sorry that encounter took so long, I should have used 2 maps, not 3. That just dragged it out with minimal fun.

This island represents a "dungeon". The dungeon alerted to your presence when you sailed around it. You saw bigger things moving in the trees, that was the Fire Giants mobilizing. "Firetail's" response is to send the kobolds to kill or at least stall the crew and 2 FGs to destroy the ship. Firetail will expect a response, but not for a few hours. So you have some time, but not enough for a full rest.

The crew no has 2 basic options:

    1) set sail and leave. You can do this before more enemies arrive

    2) stay and deal with the dungeon. You can take a short rest and get inside before the dungeon goes on high response alert. At which time, moving around the island or getting inside the dungeon will get much harder.

The kobolds say they can sneak you into the volcano (dungeon proper). They can give you basic info about what's inside, from their point of view, of course. They cant/wont do much more than cause some distraction, unless you come up with something more clever. Their help is Ewokian at best.

I know this is off the course of things nautical, but i wanted to offer it since you chose to explore the island.

Since this is table talk, feel free to ask questions.

If Sam hear's anything about "shiny things" from the Kobolds, he's up for exploring

    I love the term "ewokian".
I'm up for playing along, but a volcanic island crawl does sound mighty fun. Sjon's resources (hp, wild shape, spell slots) are nearly full.

Option C = sail off, convincing Firetail we left, get a good night's sleep, and sail right the fuck back. Twisted Evil

I am at about 50% resources, but am willing to take down this Firetail SOB. If we clear this island, we can keep it for a home base...

Any sort of heal would do Renda good.

Also - the map issue only added one extra round, in the end. It was just a busy time for folks and play was slower. No worries, great encounter!

    Thanks, Joe!

Kobolds tell of many shinies, yes, Grumpy Makers use shinies to build, yes, the We collects from many wooden ducks already, but the We keeps some shinies to Weselves

Options C, D, E as you see them are always open.

Btw matt, with a short rest I'm sure your hit dice can get you back to full hp, no?

Just to clarify, you may be able to rest again later. The time crunch is just to get inside the dungeon before the patrol is missed and Firetail goes on high alert, which would make getting into the interior of the volcano much harder.

Basically it comes down to sneaking in before they are alerted or fighting your way when their guard is up.

    Or an option C

    Totally your call

Right on, was under the impression we would not have time for a "shortie" but if we get inside quiet we could, so that is my vote, send all but a handful of the koblds to guard the ship and get inside.

Yes, see (2) above, sorry if it wasn't clear. You can take a short rest AND get inside before the patrol is missed. Anything longer and the dungeon will be on high alert

Sounds like 3 votes to explore volcano dungeon. Mike? Alan?

The depths of a volcano sounds just like the sort of place Crispy would quite like to visit. He’s a hurtin unit though.

"So what says the crew? If we leave and come back, we may lose the initiative, for surely they will watch for us after we've bested their Giants. Let us take a short rest and then take a vote."

Go ahead and do your short rest mechanics and post your vote, though it sounds like a consensus to dungeon crawl the volcano

Sam's out of his best spells (2nd level) but he's willing to give it a go.

    yeah, defense looked great.

Mitch is going to lose them a playoff game if he can't make better decisions though.
