    Sorry guys.  I missed that I was up.  Hawkes wants to follow the path from A-13 to chase the giant that is not in a bubble.  He momentarily ponders the unusual nature of the thought and then shrugs it off.  If he has a shot, he will use the bow.  If not he will dash. I can count out movement in a bit if necessary.

    no worries! I figured we are all busy over the holidays

    Laughing giants, being chased by a horde of kobolds and their friends? scratch



    Hawkes could take a shot with the Longbow, but lets check the range

    longbow is 150/600
    anything up to 150 is normal attack
    150-600 is at disadvantage

    I count roughly 100 ft, after a move to E-13, so within normal range

    given the relative sizes, I figure the trees would grant him 1/2 cover (+2 AC) though

    Actually, if you recall, Hawkes mentioned bringing it with for hunting and specifically asked if there were arrows...

    The arrow strikes true and the giant flinches from the cold! (Vulnerable, double damage)

    Slingers advance on a double move. They are out of range with slings and though they run along, they are still reluctant to actually attack their cruel overlords.

    Sam winces at the thought of how this next bit could work out...

    Sam will move up and Sneak Attack the giant's leg

    So, I'm just making sure I have this right... it only says that you have to attack with Advantage, which I believe being Invisible grants.

    Does this then satisfy Magical Ambush? - Disadvantage on saves vs. magical attacks while "Hidden"

    Just need a ruling on this and then Sam will complete his turn

    GM - how much distance between the giant closest to the boat and Renda? I can move up to 90 ft and deliver attacks. If that does not get him into engagement range for melee, he will make a 90 ft "PathofLeastResistance" move.

    thanks for asking, it is a squirrelly count for sure! I count anywhere between 85-95 feet, mostly just due to not having imposed a hard grid over the maps (my fault) but that made the maps really hard to read.

    Let's not worry too much and say Renda can make it to B-9 on the Beach map with 90 ft cheers
    I am ready for more fighting and less chasing (though this was fun to try)

    Renda's fangs find hard metal plate covering most of the Fire Giant's legs, but he manages to taste flesh with both!  (2nd one just barely)

    Shaman and his guards move up

    Bubble Boy can't do much but enjoy the view

    Fire Giant turns his attention to Renda as the most proximal threat.  He swings his greatsword down twice like a child whacking dandelion heads

    Hawkes advances and fires 2 shots.  Apparently, he can't hit something bigger than the broad side of a barn

    Crispy flies up and out almost to the shoreline

    at 18, the Slingers advance 60ft which would still be at Disadvantage if they were willing to let loose their rocks, which they are not brave enough yet to fire on their master.  Most of them seek cover in the trees and 1 ducks behind the giant scorpion.

    with 40 spd....

    I count Sjon could reach the beach @ A-X (11,12,13) with just a move, using diagonals, he only has difficult terrain at the end.

    Is Sam moving and if so, where does he move to?

    The spell would have Sneak Attack if he is in range, as he would attack unseen. If Sam is moving first, then you are correct that it is not a SA.

    I will give you the SA because Sam was hidden, the Giant turned away after chopping up some bug bits, then walked off. He never saw Sam hiding and had turned away by the time Sam emerged

    Sam gets the Giant's attention with another well placed shock!

    Renda started at B-10  
    55ft of movement puts him at M-10

    does Renda have any sort of Reach?  if not, he would not be close enough to hit the FG, which means the rest of the post doesn't work

    Respectful appeal, Gm.

    A large create occupies a 10x10 square (PHB, combat). You have the "rightward" limit of the giant clearly aligned with the edge of the "O" axis, and the "leftward" clearly extending into the "N" axis. That would place Renda adjacent and able to strike with a 5ft reach. A potential issue might also be his approach vector, if the giant's 10x10 is located further "down" than "up". We must determine exactly where the giant is in correct proportions to make the calculation.

    fair enough, you make a valid point.  I think the left side of the map has slightly smaller boxes, so my giant size didn't get adjusted as he moved.

    as for the 10x10 square - you are absolutely correct

    the giant should look like this




    however, I thought that looked really small for a giant that stands 18ft tall

    so I initially made the token to represent his height, which also made him look cooler IMHO

    the result is that the FG has a larger "hit box" than he probably should, but looks better as such (now adjusted to properly be 10ft wide)
