    The crew is watching the grey mouse creature and trying to decide what to do.....

    Suddenly, the grey mouse pops up and you can see



    it appears to be a kobold wearing a mouse-skin hide.  He waves his arms and shouts "Utinni!"  in Draconic.  (Let me know if anyone speaks Draconic)

    From all around the crew, primitive hunting blinds drop to reveal an ambush party!  (They saw you sail around the island and watched you land)

    The crew is surrounded by about 20 kobolds.  They are dressed in primitive-island fashion with bird feathers and bone jewelry.  The crew quickly notices several different types of kobolds in the hunting party

    Slingers



    Spears



    Shields



    Soothsayers



    and a Shaman



    map notes -

    the thick trees are dense jungle = partial cover and difficult terrain

    the hot sulphur springs is about 10 feet deep, it would provide partial cover if in the pool and difficult terrain to move through

    the stream is difficult terrain, but only 5ft wide



    Sam and Renda remain unseen from their excellent stealth checks and are represented as under that tree.

    The kobolds get 1 surprise round, but everyone should roll initiative

    surprise round results incoming....

    Yes, Renda got a long rest.  Only the 3 that were plagued by nightmares do not count their long rest and are at -5 max hp

    correct, at least as far as I am concerned here

    everyone got 1 good night of rest in Wyvern Bay - all cool downs refreshed,

    3 folks had nightmares during the first night at sea.  -5 max hp for those 3, general feeling of tiredness, no other game effects

    this is day 2 at sea. now on an island

    Magic flows through Crispy and manifests as deadly talons.  He misses the Shield at N-3, but connects with the other 2.  

    *Reaction* N-3 uses his shield to impose Disadvantage on Crispy for his attack vs Spear at M-3 (the crit)

    Shield M-3 cries out in pain, but his still up.

    Crispy still has a move and needs to resolve reaction issue

    Sorry I've been spotty. my grandpa got a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis a few weeks ago, so I am spending a lot of time going to down to Rockford to visit him and other family that has come.

He pulls one of the little monkey skulls given to him by an old voodoo witch doctor and tosses it into the middle of the cluster of little monsters (casting shatter). Result of the throw of dice "3d8" :
    Boom!
    1 + 1 + 5 = 7 sonic damage 10' radius (must've been a dud).
    "Dobo vache no koo-doo ni aho a ula. Boom!" Hawkes shouts in Draconic. ("I am the Thunder god and you have interrupted my vacation!"). Hawkes stumbles his way around the patches of grasping plants in hopes of helping sjon.

    "Dobo vache no koo-doo ni aho a ula. Boom!" Hawkes shouts in Draconic. ("I am the Thunder god and you have interrupted my vacation!"). Hawkes stumbles his way around the patches of grasping plants in hopes of helping sjon.

    The kobolds look at each other with puzzled expressions and wrinkled brows, clearly Hawkes does not match their image of a Thunder God.

    Point of clarification: Crispy used a reaction at the beginning of his last turn. Does he not get another reaction until the start of his next turn?

    He could jump it if he wanted to or it's just difficult terrain to wade through the water.  up to you.  athletics check to jump

    Both Soothsayers get toppled by the wave and look down for the count, as the GM's bad dice continue  No

    Only the water-logged spear man keeps his feet and his breath.

    The kobolds on the left side of the map can see the wave and the loss of their Soothsayers.  The rest are too engaged in the fight to notice.  The wave is reabsorbed by the thirsty island grasses, so the wheel turns.

    affraid ack, so sorry not to mention that in the update.  YES.  The grasping vines go limp without the concentration of the Soothsayers.

    Renda was not "restrained" as he made a save when they were cast.  I try to note conditions in the initiative block too for reference.  Either way, the spell is over, so Renda can move freely.

    looking at the map, Renda doesn't need to move to attack the nearest Shield kobold.

    Renda emerges from being hidden and the jungle itself seems to come alive to rip the nearest kobold to shreds!  

    The other kobolds in the northern group are SHAKEN by the sight.  (YELLOW boarder, like the western group that saw the tidal wave wash out their soothsayers)

    Renda still has a move if he wants to use it (remember, Dark Blessing takes a move or bonus action to eat).  The first attack alone wouldn't kill the Sheild, just FYI.


    as Round 1 closes, the crew hears a familiar "<SQWAK>!"  as Unfeathers (6) flies onto the map and lands behind Capt Hawkes.  He is breathing heavily, "<Sqwak>  Unfeathers.... good bird.... Unfeathers...... boat..... giants!  bad giants..... boat.... <sqwak>!"



    at 5 the Shaman makes a rallying cry to his kobold kin in Draconic, "Fear not, these false idols.  Firetail's plan has worked!   Scary Long Legs will smash their wooden duck while we die a glorious death.  Our place in the mountain of Cha Ra Mo Na Ah Na is promised!
