So this is about 30 yrs in the past or so.... pay attention to the young girl named Satele, she is the current Jedi Grandmaster of the Council. The young pale Sith is Darth Malgus, not the Sith Emporer but the head of the Dark Council.

The red skinned Sith is actually Sith race, just so you know what they look like and their planet of origin is the one you see, Korriban.

a more recent event: The sacking of Coruscant

this lead to the "Treaty of Coruscant" which is tenuous and barely holding together a ceasefire between the Sith Empire and the Old Republic. Lots of action going on, fighting, etc just not direct conflict on a large military scale.

(behind the scenes) reasons each side signed:

Old Republic got caught way off guard (as usual) and took heavy early losses, need time to regroup

Sith - conducted Blitzkrieg of planets, but didn't have the infrastructure to hold it all. Not enough manufacturing, supply, etc. They actually need the ceasefire too - as they expended most of the resources it took them 300 years to build up in secret on their initial attacks.

Besides a large number of fringe worlds, Sith sacked or occupied several key Republic Core worlds:
Coruscant - sacked, Jedi relocated to ancient temples at Tython
Corelia - sacked, looted, occupied (barely)
Balmorra - conquered and occupied
Ord Mantel - sacked, conquered, abandoned - currently in total unrest
Alderaan - current Civil War for power between House Organna (Rep) and House Thul (Sith backed)

In 3,681 BBY, a Sith Empire under the leadership of an immortal Sith Emperor returned to the larger galaxy and launched an assault on the Galactic Republic, sparking the Great Galactic War. The conflict lasted for a total of twenty-eight years, with the Sacking of the Republic capital of Coruscant forcing the Republic to submit to the Empire's demands and sign the Treaty of Coruscant. The galaxy then enters a tense Cold War, with the Republic rebuilding and the Jedi Order retreating to the homeworld of Tython after the destruction of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant while the Empire secures their domain and prepares for the eventual resumption of hostilities.

By 3,643 BBY, the tensions between the Empire and the Republic have begun to boil over, and proxy and side conflicts occurring across the galaxy only serve to inflame these hostilities
