Re: Broken Face - Goliath Barbarian
It will be ugly!
The first build is all Barbarian, the 10th level build is Barb 8, with the townie class "Ruffian" providing the other 2 levels. He'll use "fearful strike" on every single foe he hits!
Ruffians
are adept at intimidating the weak. They may have some
aristocratic blood or be knavish pretenders.
Bully: If you beat an adjacent person’s Fortitude, he loses 1d6
vitality and either moves back 5 ft or falls prone, as you desire.
Cruel Prank: Once daily, an adjacent sentient foe is dazed
for 1 round by your prank or stunned for 1 round if you beat its Will.
Costs 5 vitality.
Fearful Strike: As a swift action, a foe hit by your melee
weapon must resist using Will or flee in fear for 5 minutes. You can
target a particular foe only once daily.
Romantic: Apply a +5 bonus on Diplomacy checks, or +10
in romantic situations.
Swashbuckler’s Mark: As a move action, you leave a
lasting scar on a dazed or defenseless foe.
Humiliate: This improves Bully such that the person loses
4d6 vitality, or ½ that amount even when he resists, and also suffers
1 wounds, bursts into tears, and soils himself.
Trusted Weapon: Select 1 specific Light or Medium
melee weapon such as a longsword. When using this weapon, apply a
+1 bonus to attack rolls and +1d6 damage.

Re: Broken Face - Goliath Barbarian
"particular foe only once daily".
So - EVERYONE I hit in melee, I get a single shot at it. Not vitality cost, swift action.
Plus - Bully/Humiliate. No vitality cost. Maybe a full round action, not sure. But anyway - still worth it. Debuffs enemy vitality, and delivers choice of prone or 5 ft pushback, PLUS with humilate - enemy "suffers
1 wounds, bursts into tears, and soils himself."

Re: Broken Face - Goliath Barbarian
lol!
So how did that work? Was it a full round action to perform the bully/humiliate?

see the whole sequence in the next post. My Drack was already grappled, so it seems like it was just a standard actionMAS wrote:lol!

also good to remember is that Rob allows AoO to be ANYTHING.
Robyo wrote:
I think an AoO can be an ability. Otherwise it's unfair to characters who rely on their abilities and don't use weapons (monk, mage, etc) There's no full-round actions. Only a divided round of: Standard, Move,(X3) Swift.
A mage could use shocking grasp, for instance.
Rapid Attack is also allowed.

"Stay where you're at, Sarge," the Bossman calls back. "I can handle this!" Biggs grips the marshal in a bear hug like a vice. He growls into Auren's ear, "So dragonborn, you think you can come onto my land and try to arrest me? Wantonly kill my men with no warrant and no probable cause? You're a puny weakling. A little snake with a tin star. I'll show you what it means to be a man!"
Humiliate:
18vsFort (Auren resists, thus only takes half damage) = 8 Vitality and 1 Wound. Auren also bursts into tears and soils himself (seriously, it's part of the ability).
Auren is up...
Sobbing and blubbering like hatchling Auren replies, "It's... it's called a Warrantless Affadavit... you.... fat... lying...." Auren gathers his wits and courage and attempts to head butt Mr. Biggs, though he kinda feels sorry for hitting a guy with his greathelm in the face.
Move action = combat focus +2
Rapid Attack = -2
Swift Action = Power attack -2\+5
Result of the throw of dice "1d20 +7" :
6 + 7 = 13
if that hits
damage
Result of the throw of dice "1d3 +15" :
1 + 15 = 16 +5 vs evil aligned
2nd head butt
Result of the throw of dice "1d20 +7" :
20 + 7 = 27
max damage is 18 +5 vs evil aligned, no DR
Greathelms - more than just medieval style! At least the others can't see Auren crying behind his faceplate
Robyo wrote:Okay, I'll allow it. Great Helm isn't usually considered a weapon, but I guess it can be so in a dirty fight!Chris wrote:1d3 + 5 str, + 5 blessed wpn, +5 power attack = 18 + 5 if Bossman is evil alignedRobyo wrote:
First headbutt was a miss. How are you computing damage? Basic unarmed strike is 1d3,+STR mod,+5 Power Attack.
unless I am misinterpreting it, I get that bonus for any melee attack. the other two, from fighter and martialist are wpn specific (greatsword), the Paladin one is any melee
Auren's headbutt connects with Biggs' face and teeth fly out of the ruffian's mouth. He gurgles on blood, trying to say something, then loosens his grip. Norman "The Bossman" Biggs slides to the ground dead.

Re: Broken Face - Goliath Barbarian
Awesome roll up, Chris, thanks!
This fits perfectly with the concept - Broken face has such a fearsome reputation, and is so terrifying when raging, that it takes a special kind of mental fortitude to even remain in his presence.
This is basically a riff on a Barbarian character from an excellent trilogy I read recently - Logen Ninefingers aka "the Bloody Nine" (from 'The First Law' series by Joe Abercrombie). If your looking for an unusually well done fantasy series, it delivers!

Re: Broken Face - Goliath Barbarian
and the beauty of how Radiance works.... you get to make an attack vs both their Fort and Will with a single melee (best) strength-based roll.
I can't wait to see this party in action!

Re: Broken Face - Goliath Barbarian
me three!
Nice build, Matt. You guys will be crushing.
Thanks for making this topic, Chris. I don't think all the threads got copied over yet.
I believe the party consists of:
Grippli-Witch
Goliath-Shifter (werewolf)
Goliath-Barbarian
Pygmy-Ranger
Definitely have the martialist end of things covered. Hope the witch can hold down the arcane needs that will arise. Ranger can cover for rogue pretty well.
Oh but wait, Chris is spamming some new builds. What is a GM to think?

Re: Broken Face - Goliath Barbarian
sorry for the character spam, I just like messing around with Radiance
I think I am going with the Witch-doctor (witch + druid multi).... but ya never know!
I thought I copied all the character threads from "general discussion" that related to your game. I didn't comb through the "What's next" thread as that had both PP and WoD and lots of random arguing, jabbering, etc. I am just using [quote] and sticking it in a new thread, so anybody can move something, if you find something else I missed.
