On first glance Gaston seems unremarkable.  Were it not for his penchant for making friends everywhere he goes and performing whenever he gets the chance, he might go unnoticed.  As intended, no doubt, but the diminutive half-elf finds himself able to be the Robin to everyone else's Batman.  His strength lies not within his combat prowess, although he is no slouch in that regard, but in his mastery of social encounters, his capacity to control the battlefield, and his ability to make everyone around him more capable.

Gaston's earliest memories, although distant and vague, are of the performing troupe of which he and his entire family consisted.  His mother and father were madly in love with music, and they passed this on to his brother, his sister, and himself.  Together they were simply known as 'L'Vivre'.  They toured a bit, although not too far from their quaint village of Northpine.  Their bread and butter, however, was performing locally at the village inn almost every evening.

One night everything changed when the town was beset upon by a red dragon with a score to settle.  At first nobody noticed, due to the raucous laughter and merriment filling the inn, and so it was almost too late to do anything once the patrons became aware of the assault.  The dragon took several passes over the town laying heavy the buildings with fire from above, decimating anyone who dared to fight.  This included his parents, of course, who thought they could somehow help to protect their children and friends.  Amid the chaos and split up from his brother, sister, and parents, Gaston was whisked away to safety by a mercenary travelling through Northpine.  In an effort to spare Gaston the pain of witnessing what had happened to his parents they never returned to their once fair village, razed to the ground by a foul flying wyrm.

Gaston has always wondered if his siblings have survived all these years, and within him still is the shred of hope that one day he might see them again.  But for now, a guy's gotta work, and there is much to learn.

Flaws: A tragedy prevents me from ever going home again. That kind of trouble follows me around.
