Tynman, Blue, Adder and Baldric rest up and feel empowered by their success in the Rotten Halls.  They make their way safely out of Wongo's tomb and back to the atrium area.  Just as they are getting ready to descend the stairs down to level 2, Tynman's alert sensors hear a noise coming from the hallway by the entrance.

The party sets up an ambush at the intersection of the atrium and hallway.

Everyone can hear human-sounding voices speaking in a strange dialect and making little effort at being quite

man2 "aaahhh hhhaaa, yeu mahka zeee goood pooint, mon amiiii! mummm iz dee woord."

Tynman can see 2 figures down the hallway, the loud one is holding a hooded lantern.  He is wearing hide armor with a large furry cap.

The other one is crouching in a cover position with what looks like a heavy crossbow (maybe).

    An unexpected interlude Wester10

the gunslinger shoulders his rifle, "Well then folla me outside, pardners!  Just mind the steps in the hallway, Jack here got a bushel of arrows in his butt."

The gunslinger leads the way out of the tomb, with his furry friend behind him.

The party notices that these innovative gentlemen have painted the trapped tiles a bright red in the arrow hallway.  They easily avoid them this time and walk out into the sunshine.  The bright light and warm humid air are a welcome relief from nearly 2 days in the dark, dusty tomb.  Perhaps life will go on afterall?

study  friendly reminder, the Trickster God items cannot yet leave the duneon (ring, mace and staff).

Anyone who does go outside is greeted by an unusual sight!

    An unexpected interlude P9kti110

Olistaff, a well-dressed wizard is setting up shop in front of this colorful wagon, which is really more of a house-on-wheels that also doubles as his arcane factory.

    An unexpected interlude Oli10

A dapper-looking young wizard greets you, "Ah!  Someone is alive in there, wonderful, wonderful.  Come this way my friends, I have scrolls and potions for resupply.  I am also a collector of the strange and arcane.  Do you have anything to trade or sell?"

Adder carefully places the one trickster god item that he has in a nook of the stone work inside the tomb, then he'll go out.

    An unexpected interlude Oli11

Olistaff snaps his fingers and the magical hut opens on all sides, like a puzzle box!  Shelves and displays pop out loaded with peculiar items from all over the multiverse.

He gestures for the party to inspect his wares, "I will buy or take any items you happen to find in exchange.  I can also craft specific items, at the buyer's request, for an extra fee of course."

study  ok, so here is how this will work

Oli sells the following, at all times:

    any +1 weapon or armor = 500gp
    any +1 shield = 450 gp

    any 1st level scroll = 100gp
    any 2nd level scroll = 500gp

    any common potion = 80gp
    any uncommon potion = 300gp

Oli can craft common and uncommon items, but he needs time.  1 hour for a minor common or minor uncommon.  It takes 1 day for a minor rare or major uncommon.  Special orders costs double.

Oli will take any item for full value like this - gold tankard embossed with a sad face that smiles when the
    tankard is filled (250 gp)

Oli will take equal rarity magic items for 1/2 value or 2:1 in trade.
for example:  2 minor uncommon items for 1 custom minor uncommon.  Or 1 minor rare for 1 custom uncommon.

Oli will buy non-magical stuff for 1/2 value.

    Minor common items = 200gp
    Minor uncommon items = 1000gp
    *time still applies to craft

which is the same as what I listed in the Loot thread

    Chris wrote:looks good!  cheers

    re-sale value of non-magical items is 50%

something like the smiling mug is worth the value listed 100%

modified or damaged stuff is just junk with 0 value

party masks, since they come from the tomb, like a collector's item, lets say 10gp each

remember, the Ring and Staff CANNOT leave the tomb
the boon comes from the god within and are not tied to the item.  So Tynman could give the staff to someone else, but he keeps the boon.

Adder, who resisted, does not have the boon, so the next person to touch the ring has to resist\fail and can get the boon.  He could even give the ring back to Adder after he has the god within

nope, you're broke as a joke. maybe that's why you are going into the tomb?

check page 38 of the DMG

characters starting at 9th only get 750gp and 1 uncommon item - that's the HIGH magic world too.
so you guys started with way more value in magic items.

then we should probably just stock up on potions. I'm not convinced this broke-ass lich has any loot beyond the random items and the 9 gods items.

(it would be just like the guys that wrote this thing to NOT have all that much loot in here beyond the specialized items. lol)

the disk tightly in their stone paws, so that it can’t be pried
free without smashing the statues. Each statue is a Large
object with AC 17; 45 hit points; immunity to bludgeoning,
piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks; and
immunity to poison and psychic damage.

that could be done, with effort, I suppose.

Olistaff considers the collectable value of such an object.  "It would make a good conversation piece at parties, I suppose.... I would give you 250gp for it!"  he exclaims triumphantly!  "Neraka, we need some heavy lifting, please".

A large half orc dressed in tribal fashion lumbers out of the woods.  Nobody had noticed him earlier.  He must be Olistaff's muscle.  He shape shifts into a large wolf and helps Tynman roll out the disk of eyes.

somewhere deep in the tomb, undead dwarves curse under their breath at having to roll up another 250lbs bronze hunk of junk up 4 flights of stairs

@Josh check out page 135 of Xanathar's guide, which is what we actually used, as a reminder about how the devs re-thought the loot tables after the DMG, which we all agree is too low Wink

at 10th level, the party should have 28 minor items and 6 rare items in total

    you guys got per player

    Chris wrote:reposting here

CHOICE (better than random loot rolls) of the following:

3 major uncommon items (adding Armor +1 to this table)
    1 minor rare item
    3 minor uncommon items
2 common these are basically just cosmetic items or potions of healing (2d4+2 variety)
*1st level scrolls are common items*

5 minor items and 3 major items each so 20 minor and 12 major for a party of 4

not to mention, you got to CHOOSE them, as opposed to random rolls on a table

so you guys started out ahead of the curve, now with +4 minor items from the 1st level

and remember, there is a specific explanation from the devs that all CRs are built assuming 0 magic items. this isn't pathfinder or 3.x that built magic items into the CRs.

oh, I knew we got different and I'm not actually complaining at all; I was totally fine with it. That page in Xanathar's makes it far more sensible. Didn't realized that they had actually revised it already. Thanks for that chart!

My apologies if that seemed like pointless bitching. I'm happy we got the opportunity to get a couple other things; I'm assuming we have you to thank for that.  Thank you!

Alan, are you ok with the 700 gp we have and something in trade (or many things if needed) to get that Rod?

We have 250 more from the disk of eyes. So we’re at 957. I just want a +1 weapon for Tynman. He has to craft the rod, so can we put the rest of what we have down in the rod and come back after we score more loot?

@ Josh - no worries, game on!

I think you can sell the masks. If you really need them, you can buy them back from Oli as he isn't going anywhere.

yeah, I kinda doubt we need the masks, they can go.

so... are we just getting the Rod (when we come back) and armor for Tyn man now? I was slightly confused (but I'm ready to go nevertheless)

Blue hands over 5 masks but keeps one for now. He also keeps his crap studded leather. “We’ll take a break today while you work and go back in with the rod. Though since we broke the window again, we should ambush those undead dwarves tonight and go back in tomorrow.”

Ok, so the plan is to take a short rest, ambush the tomb dwarves, take a long rest and then go to level 2 with the Rod?

    If not, please correct

If so, please state how you want to set up your ambush. I guess the first question is for map making - do you want to set up around the atrium stairs area or around the area where the window will be repaired?
