    Go JOE! Please watch this video and then proceed to post. It should give you all the situational awareness you need to begin. Please let me know if you are unsure of anything (story wise) - sound off if you don't feel solid on who and where you are, why, and what you are doing.

    If/when we reach combat, it will proceed much as usual - except we are going to use the narrative movement style from the test. Describe where you are headed/your action, how far you are moving, just like you guys did last time. We'll communicate and avoid things that feel like "got ya's" - as long as it eyeballs fairly, it'll work.  The space/distances involved is prohibitive to using a grid, and you are going to have high visibility one where everything is.  

    Initiative functions as normal and everything else will proceed as usual. 

    It is useful to convey clock directions, in this case, from the nose of the vehicles as 12, which is typically your direction of travel upon contact. We will also designate UP as "North" for purposes of orientation. 

    Feel free to ask any questions you like about the terrain or any visible features. 

    You can request a specfic screenshot/view angle or even a POV from your exact position, looking towards an exact direction/target! 

    I encourage cross talk/roleplay off the bat. In fact, you don't have to wait until your turn to throw color dialogue or RP into the mix - within reason. No making complex plans, but banter and tactical cross-talk is welcome. We'll assume you are all on headsets and can usually get comms up to 1 mile LOS between each team member (local conditions permitting). 

    I dont have the custom Models done, but Ill keep pushing and Ill find something close for now if/when you dismount the vehicles. 

    Let's start out with some initiative rolls and questions, then we will move into declared actions by round, though we are not necessarily in combat. Will assign numbers to opponents when/if combat ensures.

    The team is experienced enough to assess the situation further, at a glance -


    What might be the sentry’s objective at the sight of trouble?  Call down more baddies? Rocket strike?  
    - It is common for sentries and lookouts to use phones or radios to pass information. This could certainly result in the arrival of more troops or indirect fire (mortars, rockets, etc). He could be communicating with the roadblock gunmen, or other people in the village. 



    What is the plausibility of an aggressive assent up the hillside towards the sentry?


    - Id rate that slope as difficult terrain, so itd be half speed going up. There is some cover and concealment from the sentry's position. If you made a b-line from the truck straight to his position, you have exposure to the roadblock gunmen from your rear. Conversely, moving directly towards the roadblock will leave the sentry at your back. Moving along the right hand side will put the farmer's in your "back ground" from the firing angles of the roadblock and sentry. Terrain near right to the trucks provides decent LOS blocking from the roadblock, but is exposed to the sentry. 





    That was your first glance as you brought the trucks to a halt. 

    The two closest gunmen begin to saunter towards the trucks (no position change, but they are looking at the trucks and stepping out. Weapons still at rest/ready.  

    The doors on the lead civilian vehicle are being opened by the gunmen as the shouting intensifies. 

    Lets get another declaration - if you guys want to decide offline feel free to table talk before making a move. 

    Stay in trucks? Move them? Dismount trucks?

    Docwagon pulls truck 1 foward as indicated on the map in chat. He will call out commands over the radio in his redneck encryption style, which the team knows well by now, "Well Friendo's, it sure is a hot day, whew boy, temperature is rising faster than a river in a spring. I might need to step out and take a smoke break in 3 minutes, if anyone cares to join me, grab a couple cigs from the back. Hoo-wee.... This here sure is a purdy valley! I would like to climb up that there ridge and snap a photo or 8. Anyone rec'on if them cowboys ahead of us are having car trouble? "


    Gecko will slip from the cab into the back of truck 2 and make ready to rush the hill.

    Mime and Bollywood both load smoke grenades below the truck doors. Mime is ready to draw and cap the closest fighters if the order is given or hostilities ensue.

    The team eases their trucks to a stop as they ready for trouble. 

    At the roadblock, two people are pulled from the vehicle. One, a local looking fighting age male in city clothes, appears to be desperately pleading his case. The second, a black haired caucasian woman, is yelling and gesturing back to the red Land Rover behind them. Some of the gunmen have drawn closer, and are beginning to hold their rifles at the ready.

    At the land Rover, a caucasian male wearing a non-official uniform of some sort exits the vehicle in combat gear, carrying an AK rifle He brings it to ready and starts shouting at the closest gunmen, motioning for the woman to move towards him. 

    Two gunmen continue to saunter towards the team's lead truck, and will arrive next round.

    Mime is considering the significance of a white guy with an AK.  Maybe he works for the western woman with her hair uncovered?

    Is the local guy being drafted?

    Can he make out any Farsi spoken?

    Mime is in the truck with Docwagon talking quietly only to him. His tone is a casual suggestion without assertion of urgency.
    “I can take them both at once if they’re close and then go left. Bollywood has smoke for the foreground ahead.  You will have to smoke the tree line.”

    Mime is ready to cap the guards upon their arrival, unless he is belayed. He can spend kata to shoot both if they are within 5’.

    Docwagon also keeps his voice down and tone casual, "Just breathe, pardners.  A mustang is meanest when it is looking right at you with its ears down.  Better to wait on a saddle throw until it gets distracted."  


    Docwagon is fine with Mime's plan to go left of the civ vehicles ahead while he and Bollywood make for the wreck of the russian military vehicle by the tree.  Docwagon is hoping that has enough armor to provide good cover vs small arms, while Mime and Gecko execute their sweep.  

    Gecko is ready at the back of the truck to jump on command or at the first sound of gunfire.

    He gives his Action to Mime (extra Action) and swaps initiative, if he is faster than Mime.  

    If both targets are down and we have smoke cover, he will use remaining movement towards the wrecked russkie tank.  If he is mid-field, he will drop prone. If no smoke, he will hold behind our truck, taking cover.

    Hope this clears up scale and distance. Any changes to your declarations based on map updates? 

    Note:

    The ranges listed are now considered yards instead of feet for firearms. 

    Shots beyond the first number incur disadvantage. The second number begins to stack penalties like cover/concealment, for an additional penalty range band. 

    U5 RAW lists Assault rifle as:
    100/400

    Plays as:
    Beyond 100 yards, shooter incurs disadvantage
    Beyond 400 yards, shooter incurs penalties akin to 1/2 cover.
    Beyond 800 yards, Shooter incurs penalties akin to 2/3 cover. 
    These penalties stack w/ existing cover/concealment penalties.

    Gecko will move and DASH towards the back of the nearest civilian truck. Gecko can move 45ft\15yds, so 90ft\30yds with DASH. I am not sure if he can reach it or not. By eyeballing it looks to be somewhere less than 40 yds, but maybe more than 30yds. Gecko likes to risk it, so he will run! If he doesn't quite make the cover of the truck, he will drop PRONE.

    No change to Bollywood. Mime only change is if he can’t get within 5’ of both gunmen will still get between them but within 5’ of #2. Then he cannot use kata to gain the 3rd attack but can use it to tumble if he is hit or fails a save.

    Clarification, It seems I omitted circling Doc's position in the overhead, and maybe the video didn't show well enough, so:

    Doc started the round at the back of the Truck, oriented muzzle towards the target he dropped.

    Doc is tactically competent, so when he bounced back from his shooting position to the truck, he recognized the distance to where he started, and the distance to a better pos oriented towards the remaining threats and under cover of the engine block were the same, so he moved into the beter pos - which is where you are describing wanting to move to. 

    I should have communicated that more effectively, and omitting Doc's position on the overhead didnt help, sorry. 

    Unless you are intending to move up to a similar pos on the land rover ahead?
