WOW! The "thermal detonator" argument is OVER?????? What bizarre backwards dimension have I woken into ?!?!?!?!?!?!

On Mortars - Back in WW2, the Brits and the Japanese both used "knee mortars"; very small and easily carried and used by 1 man. With sci fi materials and manufacturing, this would seem to be a no brainer, easy as pie to make and the use weapon. Especially with repulsor tech.

T'son Hoil is finished and posted - lets roll!

It shoulda been over long ago had someone used logic.... Wink

Those mortars were pretty tiny though, if memory serves.... the more I read about the Brits and Japanese during that war, the more I think somebody brought a knife to a gunfight (except for their navies of course)

True, both armies small arms and armor were hopeless. They made up for it with excellent navies, aircraft, and tenacious commitment.

Very true.  Although, I do think we should throw any discussion of technological innovation out the window... its Star Wars, not Star Trek Smile

...or maybe it's just me that thinks the computer tech in that genre is just laughably primitive

Tech in general is laughable in terms of Science Fiction.  But it is important to remember that SW is really more Space Fantasy than Sci Fi.   It was created with more emphasis on the Force and as a family story than towards technology.

Technology, at least in the original trilogy, is represented by Vader and the Death Star.  And the story is, in part, symbolic of the power of the human spirit to overcome technology.  Vader becoming Anakin again (even if taking off the helmet meant he would die), Luke turning OFF the targeting computer to destroy the DS, etc.

I think Lucas had enough of these themes in mind to keep technology low-key and focus on the story's messages of redemption, faith in your friends and the power of the human spirit.

please take a look at the following pictures of miniatures and choose 1 for your character to be represented with on the battle maps.  Kudos to Rob for the idea of going "old school" instead of always using a power power.  I am going to try to use minis for combat, unless they are too hard to see. I have LOTS of minis and stuff - so I get to play with my toys !! lol!

Sorry to the aliens, there are just fewer alien minis made for any given race.  Matt - I included a couple non-gotals in your picture, since they only ever made 1 gotal mini.

Josh - I included a couple LOTR minis since Daxx doesn't do the robes and the mini of Theodan looks almost identical to the avatar picture you are using with the blond guy raising his lightsaber over head.

something I forgot..... everyone needs to chose their starting level of Force Attunement (see the Force House rules)

remember 0 = grey, neither light nor dark side attuned. there are 5 levels of each side, with steps in between each.

for example, there are 10 steps between 0 and either Light 1 or Dark 1. Anakin massacres 20 younglings and moves -10 down the dark path, gaining a Dark attunement level. Helping someone in a minor way, +1 step light side. Anakin's redemption +100 Light side points, Dark 5 to Light 5. And everything in between.

since you are all already 4th level and have made some choices in your past, you can start anywhere between -5 and +5. In other words, halfway to Dark 1 or Light 1 or anywhere in between. This goes for all characters, force sensitive or not (though it mostly important for force users).

please post here your choice, not in the Prologue thread, and mark it on your character. to avoid the "me too's!" I won't award points until after a scene is over.

Sgt. Rakhu isnt proud of anything he did working for the hutts in his youth.  -2 dark.  Since joining the republic, he has felt good about most of his decisions, though sometimes he may have reservations about how things come down through the chain of command. +3 light.  Totalling +1 light so far.  There is a story on his character thread if u havent seen it.

there are SOOOO many prestige classes spread through all the books, surely you can find something

but I would consider making it a FEAT since it is really a limited use ability, remind me the next time you get a feat or soldier feat from leveling up

To be honest, I'd need to know more about 'Margaret Weis Games'... never heard of it and the rules could be a cluster-fuck if they didn't use some version of d20

A good way to nerf stun grenade after a successful save might be to apply the "dazed" condition from d&d.elephant

Margaret Weis (with Tracey Hickman) was one of the authors of the orignial "Dragonlance" novels. Shes a gamer/author from the old school!

I'll have to dig some info about this here firefly game!

Chris, i was doublechecking the great force pike to add dmg info to my character sheet and found that it was designed for the empire. Should i nerf it to a regular force pike or could some form of 10' reach force pike still exist?
