Sharn senses a great disturbance in the Force. No, wait... just a bit of indigestion.

Re: Adrift in a sea of stars
HOLY CRAP, didn't see that coming! But its ok, because there was probably Gree there.
How many XPs is destroying an entire Republic fleet and capital planet worth?!?!?!?!
LEVEL UP!!! ROFL!!!!!!!
"The engines are now functioning at greatly increased levels of efficiency. We must now proceed to locate advanced warp field communications arrays."
SDX makes careful notes regarding the nature and results of his experimental tinkering with the primitive technology. It has not escaped him that he has discovered both a means of propulsion, and a powerful weapon to be used against the Gree...
Out of curiosity, is all of the matter (that was formerly Corsucant) that got sucked through the quantum-collapse tunnel rocketing towards us from behind the ship? Because perhaps we best get out of the way!!!

Strange tidings of late, Sharn wonders. We were supposed to rescue Rakhu, and yet there was no sign of him. And who is this peculiar red mandalorian anyways? The wookie must know...
While Red is busy checking the starcharts and plotting a course in this faraway sector of the Delta Quadrant, Sharn sneaks up behind and--- quickly unmasks him!

Rakhu wore the Red Mando armor at the end of your last adventure. Sharn has no reason to think it is not Rakhu.
just saying....
whit10 wrote:uh, I think Shivak is smart enough to try and stop the engines...
Shivak throttles the engines down. The loud hum goes quiet. As the engine noise fades, so too do the rest of the ship's systems. The crew finds itself aboard a dark ship. There are no lights, no active systems, even the air processors have gone quiet.
The silence is eerie. The blackness of space is all around you. You cannot see any nearby stars or planets.
You are adrift in a sea of stars.

Okay, then nevermind. I thought it was some big mystery.
Sharn will help reroute power as needed. He is intrigued and excited by being so far deep into space. Memories of watching holo-vids of ST:Voyager and Lost in Space enter the wookie's mind.

Re: Adrift in a sea of stars
SDX - there are plenty of windows and turrets. SDX does not see a wave of matter about to crash into the ship. SDX theorizes that the matter was probably "crunched" into the collapsing field and the excess energy pushed out the other side, thus creating the wave which the ship rode. Theoretically, anyways. SDX is a master of Trigonometry (waves and energy) but he underestimated the reptilian's eagerness to "punch the engines" within the atmosphere. Prime always engage Quanta-matter drives beyond a planet's gravity well, every kinder-primer knows that. The Prime have land-based gates for movement inside gravity wells. Without a fixed point on the other end... bad things can happen.
Sharn - no worries, that was over 1 year ago
the red mando armor was what the real Tarro was wearing when you fought all the mandos in the canyon back on Kintan. Tarro was the punk captain who was training his team for the Great Hunt. You met his father, Ionus Jerr (old mando) afterwards. He is the one that recruited your help to find Rakhu. Rakhu had taken Tarro's armor and talked about impersonating Tarro in the great hunt (1 year ago). Maybe Ionus thought this Tarro was Rakhu? This is all you know, what he told you:
Tarro, Shivak and Sharn all get to work on the ship. Bos (NPC until if\when Bronson returns) will act as Commander and coordinate the repair efforts.
After about 10 minutes of diagnostic checking which has to be done manually since there is no power, the crew comes to following conclusions - SDX rerouted the hyper matter through the ion engines. Venting the hyper matter that way may have caused the singularity behind the ship, the resulting wave of energy flowed back into the engines (the wrong way) pushing the ship forward. It completely burned out the ion engines.
The power surge fried every system on the ship that was active at the time: Life support, engines, hyperdrive, sensors and the Cloak. Engines are the most damaged; they are physically burned out.
The ship is out of hyper matter.
Systems that are offline (no power) but appear undamaged: all weapons, shields
Without shields the temperature is dropping quickly. Without air, the crew will only last a few hours.
Tarro's roll is enough to restore power to the shields, at least enough to block the radiation and keep the crew from freezing to death.
Be creative and give me any knowledge\skill checks and your plan for fixing the ship.
You have a couple hours of air to decide your priorities and effect repairs.

Ionus tells Sharn, Bos and T'son, "We don't have much time. Rakhu is walking into a trap. He is matched against an assassin droid designated C3PX"
Ionus continues, "C3PX was always dangerous, when he was unique. Recently he has gained the ability to control other Protocol (C3P) droids. He must have received some kind of alien technology that is beyond our understanding. Droids have unique processing cores and restraining hardware to prevent such control. As a Mandolorian, I cannot directly interfere with the Great Hunt, but I can even the field. C3PX has Rakhu's ships surrounded and his crew pinned down. We can't risk a direct approach to the landing pad, but I can get you in behind it. Rakhu is docked on an open-air platform in the Migrant Dock Workers Guild section of the lower levels."
"You can sneak through the building and enter from the East. Meet me back on Nar Shadda, with Rakhu and his trophy. I shall await you at the Palace of Rakhu's sponsor, Zhu-jinn the Hutt."

You need an actual repair-to-fix roll, not just a reroute power check for life support.
Most systems are both damaged and without power. The weapons and shields were just without power, but undamaged. Tarro restored the shields, which was easier than fixing a damaged system. It may take a group effort.

"Calculations did not include variables for actualities of reduced primitive logic. Noted."
Take 20 (for a total of 36) on repair/construct Prime devices.
SDX hangs back and lets the creatures with knowledge of these systems take the lead in repairs, providing assistance when knowledge of higher science would be helpful.

Re: Adrift in a sea of stars
Taking 20!
Sharn and Irwin set to work on repairing the Life Support systems. It is no easy task as the power surge basically fried all the wiring that connects the various parts: fans, air processors, temperature\humidity controls, waste management, urine recovery, CO2 removal, O2 production, N2 control, sanitation (showers, sinks), and venting.
There literally isn't enough spare wiring on the ship to rewire all the systems. SDX assists by introducing nano-tech components that begin to fabricate their own wiring using scrap bits of laminoid and duraplast. SDX is able to design nano-tech factories which used an Prime version of a 3D printer to manufacture the parts.
This task takes many hours (x20), but they manage to get the air components online first and then the water systems later in the day. Shivak acts as a helper and quality tester.
Tarro works outside the ship cannibalizing the engines as best he can. The ship is still drifting from momentum.
Does Tarro have mag-boots or is he using a tether or some other way to avoid floating off into space?
Perception check for Tarro

mag boots = boots of spider climb
Tarro feels no effects of deep space, his Adaptation item protects him well. Tarro is tethered to the ship by a long cable from the outer hatch that stretches 10-12 meters back to the engines, with another 5-10m of slack, so Tarro can move around freely.
Tarro begins ripping apart the engines, trying to piece together enough parts for 1. Tarro is out in space for several hours and is getting tired (it was a long day already, big fight, no rest).
Tarro takes a moment to enjoy the view of deep space. The stillness and quiet are unsettling. Tarro blinks his eyes.... is that a flicker of movement? How far away is it?
Tarro isn't sure what, if anything, he is seeing.....

As Tarro watches, he sees more of them - hundreds, maybe thousands of those whispy filaments drifting towards the Wrenvenge. Tarro notices that they seem to be drifting from a particularly dark and star-less patch of space. Tarro wonders if they are some kind of space dust or debris.

In response to Tarro, Shivak goes to a window and sees the approaching cloud of wispy particles. Shivak calms his mind and reaches out with the Force.....
Shivak can sense a very weak connection to the Force in the wisps individually.
Tarro and Shivak both see the closest wisp display some sort of luminescence.
The wisp, now more visible, is clearly moving like a life form. It appears to be swimming in the vacuum of deep space. In a cascade, the other wisps begin to ignite their bio-luminescence too. Soon, a swarm of thousands of glowing wisps, each no more than 1 meter are swirling around the ship. They are not acting aggressively. Shivak senses curiosity.
Bos calls out loudly enough for SDX and Sharn to hear, "Guys.... look at that! In all my years as a spacer, I have never seen anything like it"

and then moves towards the airlock, with the intent of positioning itself for a rapid exit or steady assist should the Red Creature need to help getting back inside.

In response to Shivak, the bio-luminescent wisps begin to scintillate their color patterns. They swirl around the Wrenvenge in a wave of 1000s, maybe millions of wisps.
They vary in shape, size and color
One in particular seems curious about the movement of the red being outside the ship
With their collective light, it is as bright as daylight and they block out the blackness and loneliness of deep space

You can always look stuff up online, even if you don't have the book. Just Google the .pdf, like here

Shivak sends calming emotions (no words) and feels like the curious, non-hostile, wisps have become "friendly".
Tarro is able to get back into the outer hatch without incident, though the one watching him took interest in his passage through the ship's door.
The swarm continue to ripple with colors and swirl around the Wrenvenge in a giant cloud.

Tarro very gently closes the hatch behind him. "Those engines are a mess. We should be able to limp along now, but let's sit tight until whatever this is passes."

I'm drawing a blank here for some reason. Is there a force skill that would allow Shivak to communicate with them? It could just be the insomnia

We're going to need sensors at some point so we can figure out where the hell we are... or, if there is a planet nearby to land on and maybe do better repairs?

Shivak throttles the engines down. The loud hum goes quiet. As the engine noise fades, so too do the rest of the ship's systems. The crew finds itself aboard a dark ship. There are no lights, no active systems, even the air processors have gone quiet.
The silence is eerie. The blackness of space is all around you. You cannot see any nearby stars or planets.
You are adrift in a sea of stars.
And don't forget to account for HP spent for your 2 Force Skill uses. No one has had a chance to rest (except Sharn for an hour or so), so HPs are where they were after the Coruscant fight

"Individual Designation Observer SDX. Individual Designation Piloting Creature Shivak. Contact formatted and Indexed."
SDX moves towards the communications array. "Request activation, Shivak."
SDX begins speaking the following message, in the following languages, in the following order.
Auran (flying creatures, air-based creatures)
Aquan (aquatic creatures, water-based creatures)
Celestial (angels and other good outsiders)
Ignan (fire-based creatures)
Terran (earth-based creatures)
"We are peaceful creatures happy to meet you. We are lost and looking for solid matter to rest on. Can you guide us towards a place that will be safe for us?"

The wisps react to the harmonic, almost hymnal, chanting that represents Celestial. They pulse and oscillate their luminescent lights in a definite pattern. SDX is able to determine that they are understanding his request and responding as best as they are able.
The wisps form up into a long cylinder around the Wrenvenge. They begin a cyclical pattern of movement where the lead wisps, at the front end of the cylinder, spin around in a circle and then retreat back down the inside of the cylinder. Each wave repeats this pattern. Much like air passing through a turbine, the Wrenvenge is being carried forward through space. The crew can really only see 'forwards' (out the front opening of the turbine, where the fan would be located) because the cylinder of multicolored wisps have enveloped the ship.
The ship is moving slowly, but steadily forward (about game speed 2). This pace continues for about 20 minutes. SDX notices a disturbance in the star pattern up ahead. He can see what looks like a ribbon-shaped mirage. The wisps appear to be guiding the ship towards it.

Tarro will get to work on sensors, "we need to grt a better look ahead."
Take 10=25 "gimme a hand" to anyone...
"Flyboy, what do you sense ahead?"
