I love all the questions and chatter, but now the 'house rules' thread is cluttered and it's purpose is for quick and easy access to rules. I don't want you to have to comb through pages of chatter, so please chatter here!

I am deleting all the other posts in the House Rules thread, but I will save Alan's narrative

remember, you get 1 Starship feat for free, 1 free skill (pilot) and 1 free knowledge (planetary sys).... so either of you can take all the pilot stuff and it wouldn't affect the rest of your build.
but no worries either way, you can all ride in the back of dirty twilek taxis for all I care
Rob's concept could easily include a pilot droid.
If no one wants to participate in space combat, that is fine, we can just taxi about, but it is skipping a big part of what makes SW unique, in my opinion. Space combat can be fun and is a big part of the movies. But up to the party

Sorry for the chatter.
If we ALL had ships we were piloting, which is often the case in the movies, space combat could be very exciting. If we decided as a party to ALL slot the skills to do it, that could generate potential for some serious action encounters....
Alan - I could see a whole book with "Johnson" as the central character. Not told from his point of view...but he is constantly being railroaded, cajoled, and pigeon-holed into doing dangerous and epic things by the semi-oblivious people around him. Somehow, he becomes the pivotal player in a fast moving, monumental series of events of historical proportions. The accidental hero...

Actually Matt, there's really only one skill and two feats for starships. There Pilot as a skill and Starship Operation (fighters, transports or capitol ships) There's also Starship Dodge for pilots but it's just a +1 dodge to evade fire. The ship thing is easily covered by the party regardless of how often we get involved in that sort of stuff

Re: SW comments
Josh is correct, which is why I gave you all 1 starship feat for free (cuz it seems everyone in SW can fly a ship, heroes at least) and the 1 skill for pilot\repair\computer, if you so choose.
I think Matt's point is whether or not everyone wants to pile into 1 transport class ship and act as gunners\crew\shield operator\repair or each pilot your own ship (whether that be starfighter or transport).
Being a crew can be really helpful, it is very hard to be a starfighter pilot, without a good R2 (easy) but also ALL the skills - computer use, repair and pilot.
read pages 224-225 for all the things a crew of heroes can do in space combat.
Matt, I don't know how you link the adobe pictures, but maybe you can paste those pages here or in the House Rules section?
A group of space ships would be lots of fun, though harder to do with a map. 1 ship with a crew is much lower maintenance.

yeah, those look like they are from a SW book. What is strange is that Radiance is an adobe file too and I can just directly copy\paste without any issues. I don't know why the SW books are different?
I guess I could copy out of adobe, paste into word, then save as a jpeg, then insert into here.... but that seems like way too much work.

Looks pretty solid. My only bit of constructive criticism would be in the choice of weapons. Why only slugthrowers?
That is the equivalent of playing a modern earth game and rolling a 'soldier' that uses a black powder rifle.
Blasters are superior in, almost, every way. I can think of a couple possible times a slugthrower is better, but not many.
I mean, gunpowder weapons have so many problems in a space game -
they don't work in space, underwater, in atmospheres without the right O2 content, etc etc. (blasters do)
your fire makes a lot of noise, even when you don't want it to
there is no stun setting
blowing holes in a space ship tends to depressurize the ship and kill everyone
blasters just burn the surface, they have no penetration or solid projectile, just superheated plasma\gas
they do 2dx instead of 3dx
why not carry a slugthrower or 2 if you like, but at least carry a blaster too?
I understand Hicks carrying a shotgun in Aliens. But as a soldier, he mostly used the best technology weapon available.

Agreed. He has no problem with blasters but theyre loud. His guns have silencers. Limited budget was the problem. Figured id get the stuff that might be harder to find first. When he needs a blaster there will be fallen enemies to take one from. Besides, did you see the enforcer? 2d6+4! And btw, any rule for hollow points?
The adventurer is his sniper rifle. May never use it. Will pick up a thumper carbine and a blaster cannon soon... ooh... and grenades!

Re: SW comments
sorry if I failed to mention this earlier, as far as budget goes, you can have any regular grade equipment you want. like you said, every dead guy will drop a blaster rifle.
I don't really want to get into custom ammunition (another nice thing about blasters), but if you want to take something like a Crafting skill (maybe with your free skill?) and make your own bullets, then we can discuss things like Hollow Points, Explosive Rounds, Flechette, Ceramic Rounds (break into dust when they hit solid objects like a ships hull, but would penetrate flesh), etc etc.
Grennades are plentiful as well, though not terribly effective against anything but trash mobs, due to Reflex save for half damage.
I recall making good use of mini-missles, instead of grennades (think Over\Under mounted like in Aliens). You might look into those, better damage, better range, probably the BANG you are looking for with Fifi, oops wrong guy that likes to go boom.
And before Josh chimes in..... you CANNOT throw thermal detonators. they are an explosive device, like C-4, but with an unstable liquid core that can detonate just from dropping them.

You just had to go there.... the rules state whatever they state, blah blah blah. Whatever.. no argument here.
... but since I can't let this go, if you can throw a satchel charge, you can throw a Thermal Detonator.
As for the "unstable core"... gee, that sound like the most worthless item ever made if they're that unstable.

honestly, the damage is probably too low, given the power of the device. that is why it got such a big reaction when Leia pulled it out in Jabba's palace. that 1 TD could have leveled the whole palace.

Arms and Equipment Guide, starting on page 21 with Projectile Weapons, goes from slugthrowers to dart\flechettes to Rockets et al.
mini missles are often like self propelled grennades, longer range, sometimes with guidance systems. damage output is usually close to grennade damage given size of the device

Yes. I can heal the whole party, though it is not as easy as channeling or anything like that. I believe that Rob has some healing as well. Since no one else is taking pilot stuff (that I'm aware of) it looks like I've been defaulted into being the pilot.

In all seriousness, how exactly are you going to carry a freakin' mortar around? Unless something has been significantly changed, it normally takes two or three guys to carry and operate one of those things
