Re: Revolution Calling
I will post later today. We had 17 inches of new snow and Evan's 7th grade BB tournament this weekend. His team took 3rd and barely lost to the team that ended up winning (and was undefeated during the season).

Re: Revolution Calling
Coffin hustles to F-4 for some more cover as he advances. He insults the British Officer from his new position, "Hey there Captain Codpiece... are you sure you want to continue fighting? Most officers have an aversion to embarrassing themselves in public!"
Vicious Mockery cantrip
Vicious Mockery
You unleash a string of insults laced with subtle enchantments at a creature you can see within range. If the target can hear you (though it need not understand you), it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or take 1d4 psychic damage and have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
He gets a Wisdom save vs my CHA DC 14
Result of the throw of dice "1d4" :
1
If he makes the save, I am finished.
If he fails the save, Coffin will use
Dread Reprisal
Starting at 2nd level, your words deliver bitter denunciations
that throw your foes off balance. When you deal psychic
damage to a creature you share a language with, you can
spend 1 resolve point to weaken it. Until the start of your
next turn, the creature doesn't benefit from any condition
immunities it has. In addition, the next weapon attack that
hits it ignores all resistances to damage and deals an extra
2d4 damage.

Rolling line 1 : 1d20 + 3 to total : 10, + 3, TOTAL: 13
do'h! Just missed it.
He takes one Psychic damage (which he would normally have Resistance to) and has disavantage on his next attack.
The other thing applies on the next successful hit.
Next round, Jeaupear is up.
Current map: (I have removed the dead for the moment) the two guys that were in the carraige have gotten out and grabbed muskets.

Re: Revolution Calling
Coffin reloads his dueling pistol and calls the irregulars over from the woods.
Coffin has this ability from being a veteran
Campaigner. You have proficiency with the
munitions kits. At the site of a major battle—recent or
historic—you can spend 1 hour scavenging enough
discarded shot to make up to 10 cartridge rounds.
Obviously, this wasn't a "major battle" but I would think the same logic still applies. He wants to instruct the irregulars, "Gather up the rifles, powder horns, ramrods, bayonets, tin cartridge boxes, flints, and grab their haversacks." Coffin directs them with haste in his voice. He then tells Crotxon the location of the "dead drop" spot he found earlier. "Store the extra munitions and supplies there. It is a known location to the Sons of Liberty. And get your local butcher out here before the crows feast on the officer's horse. We take EVERYTHING from our enemy, not just their lives!"
*player note - the irregulars can have whatever we don't claim as loot, obviously

Re: Revolution Calling
Prior to starting the process of transferring the silver into the water craft, King will pop off a Fog Cloud Gambit at 2nd level, creating a 40’ radius sphere. (Assuming in the nonmagical world this is braziers of wet leaves fuled by lamp oil or some such)
Fog Cloud
1 conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Target: A point within range
Components: V S
Duration: Up to 1 hour
Classes: Druid, Ranger, Sorcerer, Wizard
You create a 20-foot-radius sphere of fog centered on a point within range. The sphere spreads around corners, and its area is heavily obscured. It lasts for the duration or until a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses it.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the radius of the fog increases by 20 feet for each slot level above 1st.
With his actions obscured, King will begin transferring silver to the skiff to its capacity, then split the remainder between the two canoes.
He’ll hold back 100 silver coins for the irregulars to stash amongst themselves.

I love seeing non-magical explanations for spells!
Coffin takes a moment to soliloquy on his knowledge of whales and whale oil in particular to anyone that cares to listen. He is happy lecturing to himself,
"There is actually a good bit of processing of whale oils. The blubber would have to be boiled in trypots, to get the oil out, then the barrels of oil would be left outside in the winter until they congealed, and the congealed mass pressed to extract the liquid, which would be Number 1 Whale Oil . This would have a slightly fishy smell and be used in lamps.
If it was a sperm whale, the head or "case" would supply a much lighter oil, called Sperm Oil. This was very fine, and for the 18th century, it was the best oil for lubricating watches and other fine machinery. The oil that did not make the grade of Number 1 would be mostly used for soap making, having too much fatty acid to be stable without spoiling. If somebody tried to use it in a lamp, it would likely smell very strongly of fish, and tend to solidify in the cold.
Note that seals were also hunted and turned into oil: this was often mixed with whale oil and burned in lamps, and it was impossible to tell if this had been added."

Re: Revolution Calling
In addition to the 2000 pounds of silver, there are several dispatces meant for the British represenative in Albany (I will address this later) and 2 good bottles of Port. There is a set of, essentially, +1 dueling pistols and a fine rifle (Pennslyvania Rifle). There are also the weapons from the fight.
10 muskets, one coach gun (18th century shotgun - double barrel) and two dueling pistols. Plus 80 rounds of ammo and 10 powder horns and assorted British infantry gear.
I know the prisoners were bound and so forth, what do you plan to do with the two of them?
The volunteers have drifted back to your position.

Re: Revolution Calling
We should take:
several dispatces meant for the British represenative in Albany (I will address this later) and 2 good bottles of Port. There is a set of, essentially, +1 dueling pistols and a fine rifle (Pennslyvania Rifle).
And
one coach gun (18th century shotgun - double barrel) and two dueling pistols.
And a third of:
Plus 80 rounds of ammo and 10 powder horns.
As to assorted gear, are there any belts with “belt loops” or other “Wargear” items? Jeaupear would like a new set of pistols (or at least one) and something to holster them in.
Also have interest in the coach gun but don’t want to be greedy.

Re: Revolution Calling
Coffin agrees with JP and proposes the following split:
King - Pennslyvania Rifle (3d8!) and a dueling pistol +1
JP - coach gun and both regular dueling pistols
Coffin - dueling pistol +1
Coffin doesn't have as much use for guns with his Gambits. He can have first dibs on something else later.
We can always sell the wine for wargear or use some money we find just lying around

Re: Revolution Calling
There are holsters on the officer's horse and on his person. He also has "Belt Loops" on his waist. There are 10 sets of British redcoat uniforms and one officer's uniform. There are two horses that are still alive from the carriage (out of 4).
There are ten cartridge boxes among the dead soldiers. Your volunteers are looking like they would also like to pilfer the dead, after you of course.
Also, there are 10 pairs of hobnail boots and one pair of riding boots. Look at the Officer and Foot Soldier in the book, pretty much all of the gear that is shown on the templates is there for the taking. Although several dead redcoat uniforms show blood stains and some holes.
The documents (for when you get a few minutes to read through them) are fairly mundane except for one.
There is a military looking seal on this scroll.
"Major Hastings, I have dispatched the 9th Grenadier Battalion a few hours behind Lieutenant Forbes' column. This should allow you to crush any rebel resistance along the road from New York City as well as in the vicinity of Albany.
I will be sending a special secured carriage the following day, send Lt. Forbes to meet the column as it arrives at Kent's Crossing as I cannot spare anymore forces for the moment. We have captured a certain rebel spy that I would rather have imprisoned as far from New York City as possible. He is a member of the Sons of Liberty and I know your special talents in interrogation will prove useful. Interrogate him vigorously!
General Howe is planning on dispatching more forces to Albany over the next two weeks. A move against the rebels in the north of the colony is being planned. Cooperate fully with any orders from General Burgoyne in Quebec.
Colonel Townsend"
(for those that might not know, a battalion is roughly 300 men)

“Agreed. The British will sack this town when they learn what’s happened here. It might be best if they evacuate to the outlying farms.”
King pauses to survey the carnage around him.
“There are certainly British sympathizers about. The longer we stay here the greater our risk of being identified. We must be on our way gentlemen.”

Croxton surveys the scene as well as his men give you a hand.

"We should take the officer uniform and the 2 cleanest soldier ones. Mr. Croxton, I do not envy your position. I hope that you are able to clean this up and the British march past your town. I leave that decision to you and your men. You may also want to prepare for evacuation. Your best defense might be to blame a group of revolutionaries and hope you can play off as innocent bystanders. We must leave. Godspeed to you."

Also downstream to the Hudson and then on to Coffin’s safe harbor.
We have 8 hours before the canoes break down.

I hate to do this but I'm going to need a minor retcon here. You are supposed to meet Hawkins after going to King's safe harbor (after all, the point was to get the money and get it back to him to help the Cont. Army)
You are moving through the creek towards the Hudson with your loot and gear.
Any actions as you leave?

Chris wrote:Whitey wrote:King ponders the issues at hand, thoughtfully stroking the three days stubble on his jawline. “Main road to Albany follows the Hudson….perhaps there is yet to be a naval angle for us to exploit Captain.”
Coffin's bushy white eyebrows perk up and he gives his mustache a gentle tug. His grey eyes stare 1000 yards off across the Inn as if scanning the sea for a whale's exhale plume.
"We could disable both the road and the wagon then and slip away by boat with the silver. That would leave fewer clues for the British afterwards and we wouldn't need to take such care in our tactics. We would need a small skiff capable of carrying 3 men and the silver. There are small farming communities all up and down the Hudson. Claverack Landing is about 10 families. I only know it because its one of the bays off the Hudson river that is deep enough to dock a whaling ship. I docked there a few times to take on supplies. I haven't been there since '74 when the Colonies banned trade with Britain."
He refocuses his eyes and addresses the Frenchman, "Et vous, monsieur... quesque tu pense, eh?"
note - Claverack Landing would eventually be renamed to Hudson Bay and the home of the Hudson Bay Whaling Industry after the war.
Not sure a retcon is needed? Were we not meeting Hawkins in Claverack Landing?

King notices movement on the western shore. He sees movement by at least 4 people that are trying to remain hidden, but seem to be following your group as you move south.
