*Advertisement*: I'm rebooting The Scourge campaign (medieval zombie apocalypse). Will be using Radiance rules. 10th level PCs, begins in the Underdark. We'll be playing at my house on New Year's Day, 12pm-4pm. If any of you fellas wants to play, being in the local vicinity or we could do Skype as well.

Hey guys!

We have FINALLY gotten Nicole's mom moved, and she did the final paperwork to sell her old house this morning, mission complete! This afternoon we have her side of the family's "Christmas" and then we will get to head back up to Wisconsin (at long last!).

As far as timing of this project - I had kind of envisioned it as a side project, but would be willing to run the first encounter as an "inbetweener" as we transition main campaigns. Im flexible on it and don't want to derail anybody else's already scheduled action (primal planet, for example).

I would love to join on the New Years day action, but we have to tear down Festival of Lights displays for my Grandfather (back down to Rockford again). Since my travel days are over in 2014 (YEAH!!!) I am hoping to be able to actually be able to show up for some face to face gaming now and then!

As far as Primal Planet goes, I'm still willing to run it. I just figured Josh was running his Pathfinder thing next. Because I'm really looking forward to playing my paladin divine-archer. But I suppose I could bump her up to "mythic" for Matt's champions thing...


And of course, I'm happy playing SW for however long. Even if Sharn dies (though I like him), I do have another character in mind.

I am 99% sure Josh decided he is not running anything, so I think it is either (or both) Primal Planet or Mythic Heroes. A paladin divine-archer could be fun at 16th!

I'm going to run any PvP stuff in the "Arena"... already have some ideas for this.

I'll think about running something else in the future. Matt is doing PF for this Epic campaign stuff so I might look at a different system.

Well, I must admit, I'm bummed Josh isn't running his proposed campaign. It sounded like an interesting setting, anyways. I'll look into converting my paladin for Matt's game. Might take a minute, since I've never messed with the Mythic rules in PF.

For myself, after further reflection, I don't feel it would be wise to run two coexisting home-brewed campaigns. Being one for my tabletop group and another on the forum. The amount of writing and organization that's involved is heavy and I can foresee myself stressing out, trying to keep up with both. Pile on that, the other things I need/wish to accomplish in life and well, yeah, I don't see it happening.

But probably, when I'm more in-the-groove with one campaign, I'll feel comfortable starting up another. But at this point, Primal Planet will stay on the back-burner. I need to write more for it anyways. And put up a Background synopsis so you guys can compose your One Unique Things.

So I was thinking, I could maybe run a published module on the forum. In fact, I recently ran an excellent 4e one for my tabletop group called Reavers of Harkenwold. It's levels 2-4, with a pretty decent story that's not too rail-roady. The setting of it is medieval high fantasy, so no guns. Rule set I'd be willing to try it with: 13th Age or 4e. Converting 13th age would take more work on my part, but it would be a chance to try out a new system.

And also down the road, I'm still open to run Weird (wild) West, sometime in the future. I already have a lot of adventure seeds and intrigue planned/written for that one. Being another homebrew, I wouldn't want to run it just yet.

So I guess, if I were to DM next week, we could roll pretty easily with Reavers. Alternatating that with Matt's Champions or Chris' SW...

I vote for Weird West again over anything 4ed. Just chiming in. Sorry that the Primal Planet is getting dropped, understand though...

I totally understand and I hope that we do get to either return to WW or try out a new PP. I am sorry too, if I took too long with SW and threw anyone's schedule off. I always underestimate the slow pace of forum gaming.

Short of PP, I would vote for Matt's Mythic next, if he can get it ready. 3 of us have 1+ characters done and ready to roll. We all know PF and seem excited to play high-end challenges.

I have never played either 4e or 13th age. I remember reading through 4e and not really liking the direction, but that was a long time ago.

As far as SW goes, we have the post-fight wrap up with the Mandos and I expect another rest period. Then the grand finale in the Tuskbeast den fight, which will have some RPing intro stuff and of course a post fight wrap up, which ties into the wrap up for not only Kintan but the whole saga so far. This will likely be a couple long posts from me, tying up lose ends and a RPing choice on the PCs part.

Okay, I posted options, but Josh couldn't pass the opportunity to crap on my idea (naturally). WW and PP are not doable at the moment, so if no one wants to do the module, that's fine.   

When SW wraps up, I'll be taking a break from the forum. Don't the see the point on wasting more time on PF builds that end up going nowhere.

  sorry to hear that, just remember we are always here and chucking virtual dice if you change your mind. Hopefully these mythic PF builds get used or someone is going to get a visit from a mean little goblin in their sleep

It's cool. I wasn't trying to be harsh. Just kind of disappointed at the change of plans. And I'm certainly enjoying playing SW (for however long). I understand Chris' point about difficulty in predicting length of encounters/scenes. It's also true that GMing on the forum is real commitment to time and energy, even more-so than just being a player.

I'll begin work on making Zaya legal for the champions set. Try to get that up this week.

I don't like to be harsh but I thought that was uncalled for. The World of Darkness campaign got shelved a couple months ago, maybe you didn't realize that, if so, my apologies. Since we're on the subject though, I might re-visit this idea later on. It would probably be lower level though since Matt is running epic stuff soon here.

Like I said, I am flexible and comfortable with running epic or playing in any other campaign/adventure next. The epic stuff sprang up out of a few brainstorms and a sidebar discussion, and I know it wasn't on the table when we discussed our "next games".

Chris/all - I'd be happy to finish up the SW prior to starting anything else.

Rob/all - i'd be happy to play Primal Planet, and put off epic for a while, or run it on the side for those interested. To my understanding, there had been no change of plans, just additional opportunities put on the table.

all - Its hard to choose when we have so many great stories, ideas, and talent!

So - to my knowledge,

Chris wants to finish the SW story arc.
Josh's WOD is off the table.
Rob's Primal Planet is still on the table and slotted to be next (unless he chooses to pull it).
Epic is on the table as a transitional encounter episode in between games or as a sidebar.


Does that summarize our current position?

As I said before, PP and WW are postponed, until I have more time to devote to them. Maybe in a few months... Right now, I'm  running an original campaign for our tabletop group. That takes up enough time. So I was willing to run a module for the forum, but that didn't fly. For now I'll just be a player. We'll see what happens in the weeks/months to come.

I totally understand your reasons. I'm looking at maybe revisiting things so that everyone else can play for once. Since I'm old and un-interested in going out tonight, I'll look over some stuff when I get home.

... Matt, I just stated about one post above that WOD is NOT off the table, it will just have to be changed if I run it. And I just might.

I plan on finishing SW, I have it all written and stats for the encounters and even my hex maps are done.

I suggest we do Matt's mythic next, since Rob is running his tabletop stuff and Josh pulled WOD months ago.

I still want to play WOD, but I think to be fair it should enter the queue after Mythic, which we have all made characters for and are closer to being play-ready. Matt hasn't really ran anything yet either, just a bit of Throne, so Rob and I still get a GM break.

Matt, that was always my intention.  It's one of the reasons why I scrubbed the earlier idea.  I have different idea that I want to try to figure out.

Chris, points on the pic and I heartily agree!

WoD was a great concept that had a absolutely awful mechanical system.  It was made more for storytelling than hard-core gaming or crunching, not that there's anything wrong with that.  I always got sick of the piles of dice thing every time you made an attack or check or what have you.  The rule of one was also completely stupid.  If that game can be somewhat adapted somewhat, to PF or Radiance (which has Werewolves, Mages and Vampires for all intents and purposes) I think that could be a good game.  

I'm also just going to go with basically Earth so as to make the background easier to work out.  You'll be mid level at best to start with too.

Pretty sure there's a d20 version. The c.o.'s that were gamers @ Dixon c.c. played it.

Radiance might be a fun option, since you could multi-class a Dhamphir to get a Vamp warrior\mage\etc or multi a shifter.  Radiance also uses has premade stuff for guns and higher tech than PF.  Just use the White Wolf books for the storytelling stuff, which they do very well.

Did we ever decide whats coming next? If we are going to try the "Epic" next, I'd like to target a loose start date so I can ensure that I have scheduled time for it.

CORRECT! It will be a big fight and then there will be some story-telling wrap up afterwards. Whoever is next, I think I can safely say that SW will run until at least the end of January. If we can start this fight in the next couple days, I anticipate, based on previous fights, it could take up to 2 weeks, which would leave 1 week for wrap up story.

I think we should do Epic next, if you have time. We all have characters finished, except Rob, who has said he doesn't have time for PP\WW. You seem more ready to roll than WoD, which is possibly going to change from PF to d20 or Radiance.

I may be taking on a 5th class, which is an entrepreneurship piece that walks me through authoring a serious business plan and also enters me into a contest for 5K in start-up money.

We'll know for certain by the end of January how my schedule will shake out, so that times out well. Meantime, ive got a decent amount of stuff together for the first epic encounter.

I thought rob was going to get his paladin transferred from WOD to mythic?

If he doesn't... I'm REALLY considering the Aasimar Pally that I made. Just an awesome visual and very much a 'Mythic' character.

Although the same could be said for the Magus I made or the Dwarf Monk I've been toying with.

I'm working on a sorcerer for champions adventures. An Ifrit fire-elementalist. He's mostly done, just working on his mythic tier stuff right now. Should have him typed-up and posted this weekend.


Drow-slayer paladin is for Josh's campaign. If he switches system I might build something new.


My homebrew campaigns are on hiatus for awhile. I'm willing to run a module, but I would prefer to run 13th Age system for that. The module is for 4e, but 13th age is much more concise, has some cool mechanics and story-telling elements, and there's a free SRD.
