Re: Prison of the mind (Korvaq's cell)
The man replies, "I needed.... that was so long ago.... they wanted me to fight, not to give up on life. I wanted their help to.... maybe just their support?" The man seems lost in thought, "It seemed like there was a way we could actually fight both the cancer and the chemotherapy.... but it all seems like a dream now.... something about aliens, battles.... but it doesn't... can't have been real...."
The man's wife comes up to him and gently puts a hand on his shoulder, "Dear, you were in a coma for weeks. You may be remembering parts of whatever your brain activity was doing in the coma. You were never brain dead, which is why we hadn't shut off the life-support machines. How your cancer disappeared is a mystery, but one that I no longer care about. Stop dwelling on it."
She doesn't seem to see the you as the Observer

The man retells the same story but this time as the characters just experienced it: Aliens, heroes, planes hopping, black holes.

Ok, so let's review....
you have this fantastic adventure with aliens, heroes, portals, etc.
it ends with you being trapped in a place called "the prison of the mind" that looks like brain synapses and contains everything you just experienced
you talk to the man in Paradise (same man that was in the machine at the center of the prison of the mind). He tells you his 'real life memory' that is a parallel story to your fantasy adventure. cancer = xenos, golden dust = radiation, chemo = necrons, etc. he tells you that he thinks he is you. the last thing he remembers is falling into unconsciousness (parallel to you going into the black hole).
you made a perception check inside the prison of the mind and observed

Listen - you hear the low background hum of a machine..... you hear a rhythmic hissing sound with intervals about 3 seconds apart..... occasionally you a beep
Smell - none, in fact, distinctly sterile
Taste - plastic. something was in your mouth (Shivak removed it) it still tastes like plastic
Feel - whatever was in your mouth is also down your throat, it feels like a tube or a tentacle perhaps (see the pic). Temperature is comfortable, neither hot nor cold
Orientation - matches the picture of the man in the machine, which is suspended in a supine position. Shivak is in the same position, floating above it
You cannot speak out loud because something is in your mouth.
does the hum of machines, hissing sound at 3s intervals and occasional beep mean anything? think about a real life setting where a person would be lying supine and would observe those things

BINGO!
The Prison of the Mind is where you are trapped while your body is in a coma. This whole adventure has been your mind's fantasy, replacing real memories (the kids, the hospital, the traffic wreck, etc).
Main objective - escape the prison of the mind = return to consciousness
bonus objective - heal thyself = find a way to deal with the cancer (xeno) and chemo (necrons) destroying the body

Re: Prison of the mind (Korvaq's cell)
hmm... bring Shivak back to 'heal' the cancer through the force... basically by "ejecting" the cells? Or by healing them? Then the body should wake up?

WOW! nice idea. Shivak could manipulate the xeno\cancer cells and eject them from the body with the Force. very creative!
people sometimes "just wake up" but sometimes they don't. how could you help the man wake up? (almost there)

Re: Prison of the mind (Korvaq's cell)
Bring in the 'characters' from his dream (transposed with the children) - "Daddy, wake up, you're cured!"??
Cure it first and then wake him up. Let me know if you need rolls

Re: Prison of the mind (Korvaq's cell)
While in the coma, the man is in a state of pure consciousness, with infinite potential. He uses the inner characters that he has created over his lifetime to heal his body. These characters come from the Multiverse within himself.
The Multiverse is not born and cannot die, but has always been, and will always be, in a state of perpetual flux. This Multiverse is simply the current one. When it finally ceases to manifest, a new one will arise.
The Manreturns to his life healed, his last life in this manifestation of the Multiverse.
When the Man re-enters the state of pure consciousness, he will dream a new Multiverse. This new Multiverse is based on his story, which is now the Song of Creation. The Man assumes the role of Creator (Vishnu). The other characters become the Gods:
Argul - god of knowledge, diplomacy, magic and the mind. All libraries are towers that teleport across the lands.
Brick - god of strength, personal combat and vanity. In his constellation, Brick wrestles a giant demon dinosaur
Korvaq - god of fire, warfare and technology (forge)
Zang - flying metal god of the air, lightning and storms (water)
Skree - ferocious god of animals who takes the form a Velociraptor
Praxia - goddess of evolution and life (twin of Xenia)
Xenia - goddess of the demons and mutation (twin of Praxia)
Jana - goddess of travel, exploration, family
Rasso - the destroyer, god of madness

Re: Prison of the mind (Korvaq's cell)
The low hum of the machine grows louder..... slowly, the man opens his eyes. He is greeted by the tearful faces of his family: his wife Jan, Steve (dressed as Brick), Praxia holding Zang and Skree, Argul with his books and Korvaq.
Dr. Rasso informs them that the man is, somehow, miraculously clear of cancer after his coma. Dr. Rasso earns much fame as the "destroyer of cancer" with his radical coma-inducing treatments.
The man and his family retire to the house on the beach for the rest of their days
