GM, are there any tracks or disturbances on the floor that Sam can see?

Sam leans over to inspect the floor of the tunnel, but he sees no tracks or disturbances.

Hawkes nods left.

The group bears left, Kruhl remaining ever vigilant towards the back. Ahead, they can see light cascading in through a demolished section of wall. On the floor at the end of the tunnel, Sam can see what had previously been the grate of the floordrain. It is clear that this is at least one way the interlopers breached the temple. The party draws near enough to get a peek inside...

They see a Mindflayer with his back turned, as he faces some sort of altar or table to do his work. On the floor below his platform, there is another floater taking stock of the other, stranger, forms in the room. As far as the group can tell, there seems to be 7. They move slowly, some on patrols around this grand and spacious room. They appear to be semi-formless globs of flesh, eyes, tentacles, and mouths.

If there are any issues with sizes, colors, etc, I am happy to share the PPP of this encounter for modification or stewardship.

Sam will cast Invisibility on himself and then move into the room, unless something happens to make him stop.

Joe, I can't make out the where the mind flayer is, exactly. Can you post that? (Sam's movement is pending on that)

He is the enemy at the top of the map. M32.

ok, Sam will work his way towards the Mind Flayer. A double move is 60'. I believe that gets him to P-15. Sorry, having some trouble seeing the map really well (due to the debris).

I assume he will need a stealth check:

@Josh - you can def try that if you like. Just to be clear, rubble like this is difficult terrain, so it would take at least 3 if not 4 full rounds of movement to get to the upper platform. Not to mention avoiding notice by all the patrols and the floater, but you sure can try it if you'd like.

damn, I was afraid of that; that would have occurred to Sam as well. Scratch the casting of any spells yet. Let me think on this for a minute

Sam could serve as bait in the middle of the room but the problem is the Mind Flayer, ranged attacks and all that...

Sam just can't teleport quite far enough to get to the Mind Flayer

Kruhl is built to be the bait\target\aggro magnet
he is happy to go first, if that is the plan and everyone is ready

uh, player to player - no. Sam isn't suicidal. The Mind Flayer can attack him before he can teleport.

give Kruhl the Inspiration dice for a saving throw if needed and he will go in as bait


Kruhl will stow his warhammer and carry a torch w\ shield. He feels confident that his new friends won't just abandon him and run.

Kruhl makes his way cautiously down the ramp. He does not give any indication that he sees the strange tentacle-mouth things.

It looks like he can make it to Q-3 with a double move? I think that would give him a little cover from that large rock at Q-5 while still allowing at least 1 or 2 to see him.

Ready, though to be honest, I really can't differentiate much with the small map.

Not stalling, nor do I mean to belabor the point...

But if anyone has issues with the map or visibility thereof, let's handle it now before the fighting starts.

My old eyes can't distinguish much. It's just too tiny. Unfortunately I've no solution, at least in using power point. If we keep a running tab of every piece's coordinates, that might help.

I always use the desktop site view in a smartphone. Then I can zoom.

When I zoom in, the figures become all blurry, so that doesn't seem to help.

Naw, let's make it so everyone can see well enough to play. Chris, can I recruit you to fix the mapping so it is readable for everyone? I can send you the grid map and tokens tonight after work.

sorry for the delay, I had a 3 day conference in Westminster for work.  The family came along, which was awesome, cuz I played hookie half the time.  We did go-karts\bumper cars, Denver Zoo, Dave&Busters, ate some great food!

all I did was cut your map in half, stretch each map to fit a full slide and then stacked the 2 images in the forum to make it a large scale map

I sent you back the ppt with the newly sized 2 slides. You can add the tokens back on as they move and you need to update the map
