Some of you might remember the Pathfinder last campaign Matt ran on the forum.  We had really high level characters bouncing through the multi-verse.  I was playing a human sorcerer named Rasso.  We were in some crypt fighting undead warriors.  Rasso basically wrecked the encounter with a well-placed Evards Black Tentacles spell.  The undead had abysmal reflex saves and were completely neutralized by 1 spell.  Rasso, of course, went mad(er) with power and lipped off to the gold dragon quest giver, but that is another story.

Matt visited over the weekend and joined our table top game.  My boys play, as does my wife Jamie and even my brother Jon plays via Facetime.  Matt rolled up a Tabaxi sorcerer named Billiam.  Bill the Cat provided good comic relief.  Being Tabaxi gave him good movement around the battlefield.

At a key moment, the young black dragon landed near the Dragonsoul cleric for some healing and a buff.  2 of the hired demons, on loan from the Red Wizards of Thay, teleported over for the spells as well.  This is when Matt got his revenge!

Bill the Cat hit them all with.... Evards Black Tentacles!  The yuggoloth demons were able to teleport away, but the Dragonsoul cleric and the young dragon were RESTRAINED, granting the party Advantage on their attack rolls.  The rogue got his sneak attack on the dragon and Dragonsoul missed his opportunity to finally kill the party's cleric who was at 2 HP and the only source of resurrection.

I always wondered why Italians in Italian ristorante's like Lino's always mispronounced our name as a kid.  In fact, it was so common, that for a while I thought that my family was mispronouncing our name based on having immigrated from Italy so long ago (pre WWI).  It turns out, Carbone is historically correct as a Sicilian (Calabraise) pronunciation.  Carbone(y) is the modern Standard Italian (Tuscan) pronunciation that is used by Italians that came over post WWI

PF2 Core and Bestiary are out in the wild. Must say I'm not surprised Paizo is releasing more splats. Gamemaster Guide, Advanced Player's Guide, and Bestiary 2 are already slated to be released.

I play Raid and Age of Magic currently.  I played Star Wars Galaxy of heroes for 2 years (3 yrs ago) and Marvel Strike Force after that, Shadow of Mordor after that....   I like most of the hero collection games with turn-based combat.

It would be cool if we all found one we all liked and could create a clan  

I played DC heroes online for a bit but it got really irritating after getting to the point where you had to pay to get any more powerful.

After that, it seemed like a waste of time IMO

yeah, there is that. I just hope it's better written, script-wise. Last Jedi had good moments and good ideas but then they just got lazy and the script was a mess.

it has a few of the funniest star wars moments (Chewie eating porgs comes to mind) and several of the worst

my main problem with it is that it has 0 rewatchability

other than the throne room scene and a few bits here and there, the rest is just bad, like Phantom Menance bad


TFA is at least fun and rewatchable, if mostly for Han and Chewie.

I still like the Luke and Yoda part but yeah, the rest is just terrible IMHO.

Solo had real potential. The love story should have ended Early with darker undertones that burdened Solo without resolution, (until he meets Leia). Needed richer history with Lando. I liked the Chewbaca introduction. I liked Woody Harrelson.

Donald Glover stole the show as Young Lando. It should have been a Lando movie with bits of Han added in for flavor. Alden Ehrenreich just couldn't carry the character or the weak script. Glover could have carried a movie by himself and Han wouldn't have mattered as much being imperfect.

yeah, I wasn't impressed with Eherenreich, loved Glover. The script was pretty weak.

I talked with someone about this a while ago.... has Marvel studios just cornered the market on writers or something? Their movies are pretty well written (as much as they can be given the subject matter) but SW, GoT (from what those of you who watch it told me) and other shows/movies have just had CRAP for writing lately it seems like...

don't forget the god-awful X-men Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.  I started watching both and literally could not finish either they were so bad.  

Deadpool 2 was terrible

WW is the only decent (not spectacular) DC movie out of.... at least 5 or 6?

in all honesty, the early Marvel movies weren't that great either, not counting the very first Spiderman.
the second spiderman reboots were bad
Fantastic 4 was bad, F4 reboot was worse
hulk (eric bana) and hulk reboot (edward norton) were bad
ironman 2 and 3 were bad
thor 1 and 2 were bad
avengers 1 and 2 were just ok

TFA wasn't an original idea, but it was a good script and an interesting reverse-luke storyline
Rogue 1 had both an amazing script\story and cast
Solo and TLJ... not so much


I would say both Marvel and SW are about 50\50 in terms of duds and good movies.  It is just that most of the marvel trash was 3-10 years ago and their recent movies have mostly been very good.

I thought Iron Man 2 and 3 were mediocre at best, but I don't know about outright 'bad.' They had some good parts and fun moments, just weak scripts. You're right about Thor 2, I still kind of like the 1st one just from a 'splendor' point of view, but it's script is piss-poor, no argument there.

I'll always defend the first two Avengers movies. Yeah, I know Hulk shouldn't just be able to transform and there are some other issues but they're both fun comic book movies.

You can't do a Winter Soldier or Ragnorok (or Endgame) every time. I'd agree that they started out weak but my point was, why the hell is there this dearth of writers lately (seemingly)?

Hell, even Rogue 1 had to have some major re-writes and re-shoots. I agree with Rob that it's the best SW movie since Empire (RotJ just drives me crazy whenever I watch it now, it's just weak in too many places).

I won't even talk about the last few non-Marvel studios marvel movies... or most of them in general. Apocalypse was the height of terrible. I didn't even try to watch the second run at the Dark Phoenix saga. They fucked that up so bad the first time around that I didn't care.  Should have stopped after Days of Future Past. THAT was actually good!

yeah, Sony has Spidey and any associated stuff (Venom). Fox just sold all of it's X-men stuff to Disney, so Marvel has nearly everything back.

Josh said Marvel movies, so I was taking them as a whole, not just Disney's MCU which certainly represents the better half of them
