the scale of the map is accurate, meaning that the unexplored areas are the right proportions on the map to the revealed areas.  You have cleared more than half of the Rotten Halls (level 1).  

This will give you an idea of how much is left and where you can go

I know the armor destroying statue only had it's power knocked out for a bit... I need to find that post to see if we can still go there safely.

We can search the natural caverns, or burn a dispel magic to go around, or try our luck down the stairs. I really don’t want to go down yet. I’m game for either of the first two.

Very clever, Blue, but the eyes awaken the wights. They have nothing to do with the window. "Don the masks or be seen."

There is a pretty simple way through it, that I am surprised Josh in particular hasn't suggested, lol

That's what I thought, he did not see any magical aura of any kind on the crystal window. It is just a mundane object.

there is no way to beat the room's puzzle if you break in from the outside, the eyes will see you as soon as you step into the room, you can't sneak around to the masks, barring using some kind of teleport or something clever

Adder has dimension door but that's only good for him and one other person

or am I being obtuse and you think Adder should use that to go through and see if there is a mechanism to open it?

We couldn’t break it before, but we can break it now as the threat is already neutralized. Tynman in the tomb with the flail.

It isn't easy to break, by any means, but after enough whacks with a bludgeoning weapon it finally shatters.


The window has AC 5, a damage threshold of 15, 10
hit points, and immunity to poison and psychic damage.

The pathway is now open between Obo'laka's tomb and the initial hallway

13. Stone Skull
A giant stone skull crusted with moss juts out from the end of the passageway.  A flame flickers within each of its eye sockets, and a view into a chamber beyond can be seen through its open jaws.  The skull’s jaws are
opened wide enough to allow a Medium or smaller creature to climb though.

And the view beyond?

Tynman can see a dark chamber with something in the center, possibly another sarcophagus.   He would have to get closer or get a light source inside the room to see anything more.

Remember, this is all total darkness, so dim light with Darkvision.  It is dim out here, dim in there... hard to see much except vague shapes and shadows.

How about a low-risk torch... Baldric has three left. He'll light one and throw it in the room (into a clear area so as to not start anything on fire though, if possible)

Baldric tosses a lit torch into the room beyond the stone skull.


14.  Tomb

Skulls crusted with dried mud glower from niches cut
into the walls of this tomb. A maze of tiny passages is cut into the walls beyond the
niches.  
A stone sarcophagus stands at the center of the chamber, its lid adorned with a
coiled serpent carved in relief.

Behind the sarcophagus,  resting atop a marble pedestal, is an ornate crystal box
with a small humanoid skull floating inside it.

Baldric doesn't recognize any significance to a skull floating in a box

Baldric crawls through the mouth of the Stone Skull.

Tynman, Blue and Adder notice that one of the flames lit in the skull's eyes goes out.  Baldric hears 2 separate things:  

A maze of tiny passages is cut into the walls beyond the
niches, Baldric can hear the faint yet grotesque scuttling of
insects from within.

The voice of a young girl echoes in your mind: “What’s happening? Why can’t I see?”

Baldric yells back out to the others "might be a girl in here; could use some help"

Are there any other sources of light that could be used? Other torches on the walls or anything like that?

Baldric doesn't see any other options for light sources.

Are the rest joining Baldric in Moa's Tomb?

Adder will hold up for a second and watch the lights in the skull as anyone else passes (just in front of it); ready to stop the next person if it looks like things are 'happening'

Tynman will go through

The rest of the party closes ranks at the Stone Skull.  Tynman crawls through its jaws.  Blue and Adder see the flame in the other eye socket go out.

Tynman and Baldric both hear a voice in their heads, it sounds more frantic this time,  “Where am I? How did I get here?  Please... I can hear you, but I can't see you...."  

ok, something is definitely up here... is there any "direction" to where the voice is emanating from?

Tynman points to the skull. “Ask her. She always tells the truth.”

He will summon Mage Hand and have it raise the torch up to near the top of the room. (see if that helps)

A glowing hand lifts the torch high into the air. The direction of the light certainly helps the party see better.

Is Nepartak one of the gods?  (sorry, can't remember which page that's on)

No, not one of the 9 trickster gods.

History check?

Baldric entering Moa's Tomb did not affect the torch he threw in earlier. It is still burning and now held up in the air by the mage hand. Nothing has changed in terms of the room or the light.

The only thing that changed was the 2 flames in the Stone Skull's eyes went out, 1 after Baldric entered and 1 after Tynman entered, but that is outside Moa's Tomb.

Tynman can also hear the insect scuttling sounds inside Moa's Tomb.

Blue will float up to eye level with the big skull. He lights the lantern and investigates the eye sockets.
Result of the throw of dice "1d20 +9" :

12 + 9 = 21

Neither the LoR nor Blue's skills reveal any new information about the eye sockets of the Stone Skull.

well, there's the thing about only speaking the truth but I have no idea here.... (ugh)

Remember, that came from your Religion check. That is Moa's motto. That wasn't written on the tomb or anything.

Perhaps you should check Acererack's clues?
