Re: World Map and info
The Seven Kingdoms of the Anglesey Isles.
Note: It is almost 400 years since the collapse of the Latinum Empire that once controlled most of the known world. That empire is entirely gone from the Isles and the vast majority of its former centers, buildings, etc. are in ruins.
Wealth is a relative term – seen through the eyes of merchants, rulers and the powerful.
Capitals are marked with ‘star’ and other major cities are marked with a black dot. This is a very non-urban society… castles and fortifications are often made of timber rather than stone.
Abbysaid:
King: Yusuf ibn Al-Hamar (Human)
Capital: Corduba
Composition: Human, Gnome, Minotaur
Society: Well organized and strongly ruled. Abbysaid is the second most powerful and wealthiest kingdom outside of Merciana. Very similar to Moorish society in 10th century Spain. Strong armies and navy.
Alban:
King: Fergus II – only recognized by the Humans and Half-Elves or Half-Orcs
Capital: Theransia
Composition: very loose confederation of tribes – Human, Orc, Hobgoblin, Kobold and Goblin
Society: Very loosely organized with very little “wealth.” Abundant natural resources but a very cold and trackless land.
Arcadia:
Queen: Kwentrith (High Elf)
Capital: Corialanus
Composition: Mix of High Elves, Humans, Firbolgs and Fey creatures
Society: Moderately wealthy society due to trade and ship building/metal industry. Arcadia is the only power to have any sort of trade with the island of Tennebras
Dal Raida:
Queen: Shava (Wood Elf)
Capital: Caernarfon
Composition: Almost entirely Wood Elf – many Fey creatures
Society: A relatively poor country that is entirely covered in forests, valleys and hills/small mountains. Trackless and lacking in roads or ports. The “Queen” is a nominal title that is not always recognized by her subjects.
Koroth:
King: Osric – High Thegn of the Holy Mountain
Capital: Gordrun, at the base of the ‘holy mountain’
Composition: Hybrid of Dwarves, Humans and Halflings. All “Underdark” creatures under the mountain range.
Society: Extensive agriculture, intensive mining and trade. Koroth is one of the wealthiest kingdoms due to its resources and mining output. The mountains, while nominally controlled by the Mountain Dwarf clans, are rumored to possess giants, mythical monsters and ancient ruins thought to be several thousand years’ old. Koroth is in the midst of a 20 year war with Merciana.
Merciana:
King: Arcadius III – Human
Capital: Lundenwic
Composition: Mostly human with pockets of High Elves, Hill Dwarves and Aasimar.
Society: Highly militant and aggressive. Merciana is wealthy, well-populated and militarily strong. It has been involved in a long-term war with Koroth for 20 years. Merciana is also the only link with the great Latinum Empire of the distant past (which only survives on the main continent to the south).
Scyllis:
King: Archon the Usurper – Half-Orc
Capital: Oppsala
Composition: Mostly Human and Orc with many Half-Orcs.
Society: A somewhat poorer kingdom, Scyllis is home to many ‘dark regions’ that are avoided by the more superstitious. Scyllis has very few settlements that are larger than a typical village. Only its agriculture is significant. Free-booters, mercenaries and robber bands abound.
Tennibras
King/ruler – none
Composition: unknown but rumored to be all sorts of fantastical beasts and creatures (for game purposes, all races not mentioned above originated here).
Society: very little is known about Tennibras among the peoples of the 7 kingdoms. Arcadia has some trade with small port towns but the rest of the island is a mystery to nearly all outsiders.
