    Marvin wishes he had less to drink the week he was learning about life in the underdark. He recognizes it as a type of dangerous mold, but that's about all he can recall.

    Given his love of booze, Vasyli remembers that this particular type of mold can be killed not by fire, but by alcohol!

    As soon as he says this, Marvin remembers the Dawi talking about it being such a waste of a good drink.

    The tunnel is tight, but you could make a path through adjacent spaces. I would say 1 wineskin per corpse would be the right amount to soak it adequately.

    Ok.... How about this use of Vasyli's vast tool arsenal.

    The Right Tool for the Job: You've learned how to produce exactly the tool you need: with thieves' tools or artisan's tools in hand, you can magically create one set of artisan's tools in
    an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you. This creation requires 1 hour of uninterrupted work, which can coincide with a short or long rest. Though the product of magic, the tools are nonmagical, and they vanish when you use this feature again.

    A set of tongs should be in one of those categories.. smith's tools maybe?

    Then we use the tongs to pull one of the bodies out of the way... though this will take a while.

    Vasyli can certainly create tongs or other Tools. Are you sure there isn't something else more useful?

    Huh... spores. That deserves an inspiration point!

    Warhol hasn't tried a Nature check yet has he? He could use that IP to offset the DIS on a Nature roll.

    Disturbing the bodies (and activating any spores) was something I was already thinking of... Tongs were just an idea but I'm too blown out from today from work to think of other tools....

    The rest of the party is welcome to chime in on that one. Vasyli can pretty much make any tool there is

    Still think the Jump idea is a good one.

    Warhol remembers that alcohol isn't the only thing that can kill the mold. But he just.... can't.... remember what it is. Its right on the tip of his tongue (dc20). Dont't forget guidance next time Wink

    I guess it would probably help to see the layout of the corpses and empty spaces. I will work up a quick map for it. Warhol can fly over, if doesn't need a map. Tunnel is roughly 10ft tall in this area.

    Hopefully this helps you plot your movement a bit more easily, sorry it is a little crude.  Red circles are the moldy corpses.  The glowing green crystal is nothing, just on the tunnel map, its not really there.  The party is still operating just with darkvision, so its all B\W.   You don't have to be standing exactly in those places either, I just put you all on the side of the map.  I know you need 10ft for a running jump.  But you were still 50ft away and that just messed up the scale of the tunnel for the jumping part.  You can plot your course as if you were off the map or whatever you want.  Movement only really matters when it comes to calculating your jump distance vs your speed.  (see below)

    What Dreams May Come - Page 3 Mold10



    here are the jumping rules for reference.  jump spell triples jumping distance.  let me know if you need anything else or have other questions


    Jumping
    Your Strength determines how far you can jump.

    Long Jump. When you make a Long Jump, you cover a number of feet up to your Strength score if you move at least 10 feet on foot immediately before the jump. When you make a standing Long Jump, you can leap only half that distance. Either way, each foot you clear on the jump costs a foot of Movement.

    This rule assumes that the height of your jump doesn’t matter, such as a jump across a stream or chasm. At your GM’s option, you must succeed on a DC 10 Strength (Athletics) check to clear a low obstacle (no taller than a quarter of the jump’s distance), such as a hedge or low wall. Otherwise, you hit it.

    When you land in Difficult Terrain, you must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check to land on your feet. Otherwise, you land prone.

    High Jump. When you make a High Jump, you leap into the air a number of feet equal to 3 + your Strength modifier if you move at least 10 feet on foot immediately before the jump. When you make a standing High Jump, you can jump only half that distance. Either way, each foot you clear on the jump costs a foot of Movement. In some circumstances, your GM might allow you to make a Strength (Athletics) check to jump higher than you normally can.

    You can extend your arms half your height above yourself during the jump. Thus, you can reach above you a distance equal to the height of the jump plus 1½ times your height.

    Marvin gets a running start....  he plants his foot at G-5 to launch and just as he does, he feels thin wisps in the air at G-5 (within 5ft of a moldy corpse).  Both corpses at F-4 and H-4 release a cloud of spores in a 5 ft radius around them.  

    Its like the feeling of a hair in your mouth that you can't quite find, but all over your face and exposed skin.  Marvin can feel the spores as he jumps over C-2 (still within 5ft) which also releases a spore cloud.  

    He lands at A-1, which is out of the spore cloud.

    Marvin needs to make a CON save for the spore exposure.

    ok then, Vasyli casts his two Jump spells on himself and Marvin.

    Question - should we try the lantern to see if there are other dangers or signs that we are missing, and risk the possibility of detection?

    and now that I think on it... Vasyli will light the lantern and attach some rope to it (for retrieval) unless there are objections. Are there rocks or something that he can run the rope over so that it won't disturb the bodies when he goes to retrieve the lantern?

    Where are you getting a +10 on your CON save? I see Marvin having a +2 on his character sheet?


    Nothing is revealed as invisible by the lantern.  Having real light does help everyone see in color.  The light also makes it easier to see the spore clouds, like headlights in a snowstorm.

    The mold has a russet color and irregular texture.   The corpses are covered in short growths that resembled hair. They stand upright and slowly wave back and forth. The mold varies in color from gold-brown to rust-red.

    Marvin's total is now 14.  I don't see that Warhol has anything he can use as a Reaction.

    ouch, that just missed the DC


    The spores quickly take root in their victims, inflicting 2 points of Constitution damage per round. A new CON save can be attempted each round to halt the growth.


    Marvin's CON is now 11.  His current and max HP drop by 9 (1 per level) his CON saves are 1 lower, etc.

    We are now in a pseudo initiative, since Marvin has to make a save every round or take -2 more CON damage.  He effectively has 6 rounds to live unless he makes the save (delaying the spread for that round)

    Warhol and Vasyli each get 1 turn, in any order

    So I didn't say anything on Marvin's turn because all he did was run and jump.  Remember that the Jump spell x3 the distance you can jump, but that doesn't mean it triples your total movement speed.  You are still limited to your movement speed for any given jump.  

    I assumed that Marvin used a Dash action to make his movement speed 50 for the round.
    10 ft running start
    x3 of his STR score of 13 = 39 (40ft)
    50 total, he made the jump fine


    Vasyli has 30ft of movement
    10 ft running start
    x3 of his STR 14 = 42 ft, but he only has 20 ft of movement left

    Lesser Restoration is a Touch range spell.  He can't get close enough to Marvin unless he uses Dash action, in which case he can't cast the spell until next round.


    Does that make sense?   Or maybe you have some other way around the rules that I am not thinking of.  

    And yes, let's hear it for CON saves!   Puny spores don't hurt big Vasyli.

    using Dash or not?

    just count 30ft if no Dash. I would say that puts V somewhere in the D2-3 area.
    if using Dash, 60ft is enough to clear them all


    I can update the map, I just didn't know where you wanted to land and end your turn.

    Marvin still feels terrible and very weak. His CON is still 9. Marvin feels like he needs a 2 day nap.

    Its hard to tell in the darkness, but Vasyli thinks Marvin's eyes look darker than usual.
