Re: OoG during Pirates
if you feel so inclined, please contact your legislators to voice your opinion (either way) about a new bill working its way through the Colorado system. Several key public defenders from the State Office got to influence this bill.
below is an internal email within the pubdef system, so it is clearly biased
SB20-217 just passed 2nd with strong bipartisan support! There were ZERO no voice votes! This powerful, inspiring coalition of change-makers, social justice advocates and community leaders did this… thank you for all the tireless work to get the bill this far.
And, the bill is even better with strong amendments pushed by the community including:
• Creates police officer duty to intervene to stop excessive force and failure to do so will result in discipline. In cases of serious bodily injury or death – permanent decertification.
• Strengthening the criminal legal standard to hold police officers criminally accountable for excessive force.
• Explicitly outlaws chokeholds.
• Protects protesters from police violence by limiting when and how police can use projectiles and chemical agents against a crowd (makes law portions of court order against Denver police).
• Penalizes officers who don’t activate body cams for failure to turn on body cam -- penalties, including discipline and potential loss of decertification, for officers who fail to activate body cameras.
The bill will likely face its third and final vote in the Senate tomorrow 6/8. Let's keep up this incredible, bipartisan momentum and get this bill out of the Senate. Urge your networks to contact their legislators, thanking them for their support of SB20-217 today, and asking them to vote yes on the bill’s final passage tomorrow.
For those not living in CO, perhaps your state could craft similar legislation to protect its citizens with your help

saw this earlier.
While I support most of it I think that there are going to be some genuine issues with a couple of those points, legally speaking. It will be interesting to see what happens with this

if you count having a spell active from concentration, then yes. otherwise you can only cast 3 - as Action, Bonus and Reaction
how do you see 4?

correct
PHB pg 190 = Your reaction resets at the start of your turn.

That's right. The damage Sam took from the Chuul occurred at the end of the previous round where he had already used his reaction.

For everyone's awareness - two side game/projects going on.
1) Chris is running an intro game for a few new players, that I will take over in a bit. Its going to take place in the same world as this campaign, same timeframe.
2) Meanwhile, I'm running a test with Rob and Chris to examine an alternate combat protocol for the forum. The basic idea is that all moves are declared and then resolved at once. I encourage everyone to watch the thread, and feel free discuss it in the OOG thread whether you are participating or not.

Hey guys, on Monday, June 22nd, our daughter Charlotte Josephine Young was delivered. She came early, but is doing well. Julie is still in the hospital with symptoms of pre-eclampsia. I've been really busy lately, but I'll try to stay tuned into the forum games as much as I am able.

Re: OoG during Pirates
WotC has jumped on the SJW bandwagon and I'm not surprised. While I'm more liberal-progressive than most, I really don't appreciate the whole "sensitivity edits" of published works, or the re-imagining of drow and orcs as morally diverse peoples.
There's a reason JRR Tolkien depicted orcs as evil; because they were, at their heart, corrupted by Morgoth. Drow were created by EG Gygax as a villain race, pure and simple. All the sensitivity training and cancel culture will not change my mind about it.
I fear D&D is tredding back into the stream of suckage, which TSR crossed decades ago when 2e was released. A regretful time when they took away our beloved half-orcs and assassins, and renamed demons and devils.
As much as Paizo might depict goblins as cute and cuddly, they really look best with their head on a pike.

Re: OoG during Pirates
Rob.... I couldn't agree more.
They already took care of this with the current game which allows you to play a Drow or Orc anyway that you want. You want it to be LG and a Pally, fine. Go right ahead.
You can even say that your dude came from a 'dissident' group of Orcs or Drow.
I get their point about the Romani. Hell, I figured that had been dealt with a long time ago and was surprised that it wasn't taken care of (but I avoid Ravenloft anyway... too cliched for my taste)

Re: OoG during Pirates
per Joe's comments
Tankard has a nice out of combat healing spell - prayer of healing only 2nd level
Prayer of Healing
Up to six creatures of your choice that you can see within range each regain Hit Points equal to 2d8 + your Spellcasting Ability modifier. This spell has no effect on Undead or Constructs.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd Level or higher, the Healing increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 2nd.
but casting time is 10 min
but I agree, a short rest is probably needed!

Re: OoG during Pirates
If anyone is looking for a distraction (or a throwdown!):
Just picked up the original Close Combat 2-5 Games on GOG.com for $10.76.
Supposed to come with a copy of the original, but it doesn't run on contemporary operating systems. All four fired up and ran fine on my Windows 10 system.
#2 "Bridge Too Far" - Playing as the allies in Market Garden offers some of the most challenging tactical play of the whole series.
#3 "Russian Front" - The king. I've still got a huge library of maps and mods to share. Supersoliders Ivan and Sgt Steiner unlock after you finish a campaign!
#4 "Battle of the Bulge" - Adds offscreen air/arty support and strategic level map
#5 "Invasion Normandy" - Refined version of the #4 interface.
They also have "Close Combat: Modern Tactics" which is the civilianized version of the USMC's contracted training version from the early 2000s. Its weakness is lack of campaign play, but it adds modern weapon systems. At this tech level, armor is basically LOS kill on small maps, but the anti tank capability of the infantry squads makes it very easy to lose armor. This one is better for scenario and head to head play vs solo.
They also have the newer titles (Panthers in the Fog, Gateway to Caen) and the re-release versions (Longest Day, Wacht Em Rein, Cross of Iron, Last Stand Arnhem) which are all built on a highly polished version of #5. Their OK but the original engines work best for the game, IMO.
Regretfully, the newest version which attempted to make the concept work with 3d graphics seems to have flopped.

Re: OoG during Pirates
Early review...
They tried, on some level, to reinvent the wheel. They (sort of) copied some design ideas from D&D 5E.
Armor and Shields still have damage thresholds and HP; weapons have other odd additions
Tons of feats for everybody. Everyone gets a ton of ability boosts at 5th level, 10th level, etc.
Basically, it's a number crunchers' wet dream for the most part. I love PF on one level... but it's a bit tiring to have to figure out all of your numbers once you get up to certain levels. The combat system looks a bit messy but I could easily be wrong.
