Then get him some Starfinder stuff and blow his mind! At present, SF is the only Paizo line I'm interested in. It's space fantasy setting and the system is backwards compatible with PF and 3.5 stuff. PF2.0 isn't so much backward compatible. No doubt it's probably a good system, but I have more than enough fantasy RPGs to whet the appetite.

There's lots of cool 3rd party settings coming out for 5e too.

PF2 said it was designed not to be backwards-compatible. They felt hamstrung in PF1 by trying to make it BC to D&D. They wanted this to be more of a stand-alone system.

I am really enjoying it! Combats have been challenging and different. Social encounter with Mr. T&L was memorable.

FUll trailer is out! I am cautiously excited. The look (as you said) and the scale is right. Massive, dark, wild, and mysterious. Not at all cartoony. Just hope the script is on par with the visual.

I recognize the salute that Paul gave Duncan - it is the Kali\escrima salute from Philippine stick fighting. We make it in the opposite direction to mean "I have the knowledge of the weapon and the heart to use it." I would take their salute as, "I have the will and the knowledge to use the criss blade"

Song choice is nice, I think the movie itself is scored vs soundtracked, but for a trailer "mini movie" its awesome. Although Id be down with a rock and roll soundtracked version ALA Heavy Metal.

Interesting spot on the Kali/Escrima salute. I could see the style being highly applicable to the close melee combat that results from personal shield use.I bet its pretty heavy in the fight choreography.

SciFy channel did a decent telling of the first two books, two mini-series. Much more faithful to the source material than Lynch but their budget only went so far.

Think it would be hard to cast the Baron Harkonen better than the Lynch version, that guy nailed it. Not a huge fan of Momoa, never saw Duncan Idaho as "bigburly" and he is pretty flat as an actor IMO, we will see

interesting, I thought the Lynch's Baron was terrible and way too dumb to engineer anything like the plots in the books. I thought Giancarlo Giannini was a perfect Baron - devious, intelligent, scheming and cruel without being grotesque. The Baron was only fat because he could be and could flaunt it. And because villains were stereotyped that way.

The whole, Benegesserit disease thing wasn't in the original books. That came from Kevin Anderson and Herbert Jr.'s later books, which is what Lynch picked up on, if I recall, though I could be off on the timeline.
