And, on a related note, I can’t for the life of me find the thread where we named the damn boat. What did we settle on?

Re: OoG during Pirates
Gents, I've been experiencing some "technical difficulties" with OCD. I just realized last night how long it has been since I checked in here. Really sorry about dropping off the end of that encounter. I think the stress of trying to get back on my feet, watching the virus spread without being able to do anything for a few months, then it hitting just as I was starting to get things moving again...I ended up down a rabbit hole for a while.
Could I ask for your help? If I disappear from the forum for more than 2 days without warning (Stated Im going on a trip or something) could someone check in? I feel like having a signal to ping may help me avoid the more extreme far orbits.

Thanks guys. Was just about to break out from a few years of self imposed isolation when the C19 isolation hit. I'm having a lot of trouble focusing on anything, I fixate on a topic and can't let go of it and then it crowds everything else out for a while. Just need some navigational aid for a while to get the power steering realigned.

Re: OoG during Pirates
To be fair, I hear that from a lot of people and have felt the former part myself. The first couple weeks were rough, but it has slowly gotten better over time for me and the family. We have learned our new routines and patterns. I can remember the day of the week now, which was a struggle initially.
It might be helpful for you to create some daily patterns of behaviors that can keep you grounded. One thing we did was come up with different activities for each night of the week. For example:
Monday - movie night
Tue - gaming (yahtzee, D&D, Catan, etc)
Wed - reading
Th - gaming
Fri - movies
Sat - boys watch cartoons in their room
Sun - free choice
As dumb as that seems, it provided a mental anchor for me. "Oh, yeah, its Tue because we watched Star Wars last night. "
Also, make specific times for activities, for example, I work from home now (as does Jamie), but I don't turn on my work computer until 7am and I turn it off at 4pm. I try to get dressed by 7am (most days, lol). We take a family walk at 11am and after dinner.
I don't check work email anymore than I used to at home, which is to look at the subject line on my phone and as long as it isn't an emergency, I don't read it until after 7am the next day.
The old boundaries and markers for the day are gone. So I had to create new ones for myself.
Think of them as self-grounding rituals.
YMMV

Re: OoG during Pirates
As Chris said, establishing a routine is key. For me it was maintaining the morning ritual of alarm, shower, breakfast, then a “commute” to work, which has typically taken the shape of a half hour or so on the front porch reading or catching up on the news, before I dive in to my regular 8-5 workday. Evenings almost always include a happy hour of some kind, which is the “commute” back to non-working home life. Plus a cocktail or two definitely takes the edge off. :-)

Grid was on the water background already, I laid in the cog and matched grid, then added alphanumerics on the borders. I’m working with pro design software, but just wanted to make sure it was coming through for everyone on their devices

I suspect the superstition was created to avoid the practical issues of jealousy and fighting that would occur on a boat full of horny men with 1 woman around.

Hello Again Gentlemen!! It's been a long time! I hope everyone is safe and well. Mr White very observantly caught on to me having a little extra time on my hands these days, so asked if I'd be interested in jumping back into the fray. It is greatly appreciated and hope everyone feels good about my rookie ass jumping back on. Let's adventure!! Hazzah!!!

howdy Trouble Mike!
We are well here, thanks. I get to work from home, as does my wife Jamie and the boys have virtual classes. I am actually kinda liking it, to be honest.
I was sad when you stopped playing before, you added a very theatrical presence to the group.
Any idea what you are going to play this time?

hey guys,
I just wanted to share something that was sent out by a social worker in the State of Colorado to our agency, the Public Defenders, in regards to dealing with covid19.
I am not trying to be parochial or anything, but it helped me (especially that last line) and I share it with the hopes that maybe it helps someone else

Kruhl could really use something like a Pearl of Power (uncommon) or Ring of Wizardry (rare). They both basically do the same thing - one extra spell slot of 3rd or lower. Some of the higher power rings give extra slots of 1st, 2nd, extra, but those are probably too strong for our level, in all honesty
Or a Ring of Spell Storing, which is even cooler!
https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Ring%20of%20Spell%20Storing#content
what is really cool about that, is that somebody else could put a spell into it, then Kruhl can cast it at a later time. For example, Crispy could load up a Fireball or Scorching ray or fly on a day he doesn't use all his slots, then Kruhl stores it up and can cast it later

I'll get back to you then Joe. I can't think of any minor items at the moment but I'll look again.
Sam also has one item that he hasn't used at all and someone else can have it if they really want it:
Saint's Amulet of the Hulk
Grants advantage vs. effects that inflict curses, diseases, or levels of exhaustion.
Once per day, you may grant yourself advantage on any Intimidation skill check.
I'm not saying I don't like it; just trying to be helpful to the party

@ Mike - do you care if I switch characters at this point?
Hawkes just confused the shit out of me and Kruhl
Kruhl would leave the party booty - the warhammer +2, the demon 1/2 plate +1 (+2 initiative) and take only what he started with as magic items.
I have kinda been itching to try a pure cleric - either life or tempest. A dwarf is a perfect choice for either option. Kruhl would offer his services to the Caliphate and perhaps they could get exchange a cleric in return?
I don't care what the plot device is, so whatever works.
I can keep playing Kruhl too, if you prefer for plot purposes, but he will insist on being a member of the crew, he won't continue in this weird limbo of being a passenger without a say

Totally open to you changing characters Chris, and now's as good a time as any. I did have plot ideas for Kruhl, but that was a ways out and can be absorbed into something new.
Dwarven Tempest Cleric was a ton of fun for me when we did Rob's campaign. Lends itself well to the setting too... go for it! Get it rolled up and I'll figure out how to work it in.

oh snap! I forgot about that guy
I am envisioning a Falstaff-ian cleric, both a drunk and mischief maker in his downtime, which is most of the time.
He probably wouldn't fit well into a more serious Caliphate, so they might be glad to be rid of him?
I will think about his character and get the stats up by tonight
