A technically useful answer, yet I am not certain if it is a yes or no, lol!

I will proceed with my idea anyway...

    Lumenor Smith
    HP: 24
    AC: 16
    Move: 30

    RER
    HP: 12
    AC: 16 (+2 familiar bonus)
    Move: 10/ 40 fly

Lumenor throws a flask of oil with a loosened stopper at the pilot, attempting to douse him in flammable ichor...

    Ranged touch attack

Result of the throw of dice "1d20 +2" :

    18 + 2 = 20

    Flames erupt from the cockpit.

    What's the damage on that?

Ian doesn't understand geometry and can barely do math in his head, but he has spent many a night in a tavern playing billiards.   Ian takes a 5ft step to the SW, O-14, just south of the top.  He winds up his greatsword over his left shoulder, and calls out loudly, "Goblin ball, corner pocket!"

Ian is attempting to use his experiences with how the top reacts to being hit to direct it into the stairwell.  He is hoping that it won't fit properly and get stuck in the stairwell opening, given how it spirals.

2h, PA, flanking, Fury (from Lumenor)

It wasn't lit, he is just covered in flammable oil. That would have taken a full round to fuse up, so I am dousing him this round and will light him up with the torch next round.

That being said, the floor in his space may be considered pretty damn slippery, too!

Chef wants to try and prevent the goblin knight from freeing the monster. What does the monster look like? He interposes himself between the knight and the caged monster (move action).

Does he notice if either of them make a response to noticing him or his presence? Chef still has a standard action remaining...

The top skids in oil as Ian takes his at bat.  Ian drives the top into the stone door frame and it sticks like a recliner in a hatchback.

The goblin's and their creatures don't seem to notice Chef. The gate opens right through him and the monster stands and walks through him.

Theodras is up unless Chef has another action.

It doesn't seem to work that way.

Chef is whisked away from the tower.  Into the stars.  A massive purple comet hurtles through space.  It is headed to a tiny blue planet.  The world is round?!  Their faith in their magic and their technology.  They don't need their God, who wants to help and waits for them to ask like a Father watches a stubbon child.  "I can do it myself," Chef mouths the words.  He knows them well from his nephews.

The comet breaks up, but stays on course, crashing into cities and fields alike. Death and aftermath. Their God weeps.  But now they're beginning to ask him to help again.  "Daddy, you show me how?"

Theodras is up. His patient is stirring and mumbling feverishly, [insert cryptic chefism here].

Theodras looks up and sees the whirley top coming toward the stairs. He moves Chef's unconscious body down the stairs to the lower level in case, I don't know... it explodes in a ball of fire.

Tarek's blows fall short, but frustrate the pilot's efforts.  The pilot jumps up on top of his rig and draws a gadget.  He points it at Tarek, but nothing happens.  He taps on it angrily; it appears to have jammed.

Pilot appears to be wearing a light rubberized mail.

Tarek feels strange as a foreign surge of well-being overcomes both mind and body. He feels renewed and unburdened as never before. A blithe whisp of childhood tickles his soul for just a moment. "I knew you once, where have you been? Your heart still knows me; you will see."

Chef watches civilization rebuilding. Gnomes are the first. They build towers where the meteorites fell. Then humans, great Warrior Kings. The elves hide, the Dwarves dig deeper to escape the chaos. The gnomes seem to follow. Man rules and suffers and eventually... finally they seek their maker. But where are the rest?

Chef is yanked back into his body, he sits bolt up, gasping and blurts out:______________________! (Fill in the blank).

Should have Chef updated in the next 24 hours...

GM - will the wedged goblin top pose any obstacle to movement up or down the spiral staircase?

strategy - perhaps we should continue to push up? last time they kept dropping bombs on us, which we might be able to negate if get in their face. Ian can lead again to soak any initial damage.

The top is surely an obstacle, but passable with effort. Standard action to get through the doorway as is.

Will have a bit of time tonight to level up.

Any chance leveling up also counts as a rest period for getting spell slots back?

I'll go for instant video game power up, since I won't often level you up in the middle of a crawl.

    Any more free movement actions?

    DING!

Lumenor is leveled up. He has gained a new wandering spirit - aligned to the "heavens". A few new new spell slots, a new hex, and I even took a healing spell...though he is still mainly focused on burning and blasting.

Everyone should be fully healed and refreshed as if they had a good night's sleep. Combat is ended. The door to the steps up is still closed. I was wondering whether anyone has any actions before a new initiative order begins. If not, just give me a new initiative roll.

we need to decide on our plan. are we charging up the stairs or waiting for them to come down\drop bombs?

if we are going to charge up, we should remove the goblin top that is blocking the stairwell. if we are going to wait for them, we should leave it, as it will slow them down.

I say we wait for them.

Chef will position himself in front of the door, preparing to open it if needed, and is on guard for the monster.

Tarek finds an extra tumbler in the lock, which he might have overlooked if he were in a hurry. The key would ignore it, but a pick could arm the trap. No telling what it would do. He can pick the lock selectively.
